A team from the University of Uppsala in the west of Sweden discovered Arabic script on the funeral clothes of 9 th and 10 th Century Viking graves. After careful examination of the stuff, made from fine silk, the word Allah was found to be embroidered into the burial cloth. 2 The amazing breakthrough was made by Dr Annika Larsson, who is a water archaeologist at Uppsala University.
