1 Inside this issue: Sunday Worship 2 Updates & News 2-5 Volunteer Schedule 6 Calendar 7 Birthdays & Anniversaries May 2015 Upcoming Events: May 2 Spring Cleaning May 3 VBS Meeting May 3 Bike Ride May 9 Great Giveaway May 17 Musical May 20 Last SPIRIT 8 From the Pastor On April 12, Kim Shrake our camping coordinator gave a terrific mission moment about the United Methodist Camping program. She highlighted the variety of camps available and encouraged all families to consider making camp a part of their summer plans. First United Methodist Church will pay ½ of the cost of camp. Plus, the Wisconsin United Methodist camping office has additional scholarship money (available upon request). Kim ended by telling folks the cost of camp should not be a deterrent in whether you consider signing up for camp. On the way out of church that day, Lou Rich told me that when her two adults sons visited recently, they spent a day at Pine Lake camp, walking around, reliving their memories of playing table tennis in the dining hall, sitting on the bleachers recalling what they d learned that day, etc. I too have many wonderful memories of camps which our sons have attended and which Jim and I have led, including Family camp, Youth Mission Camp (YO-MI-CA). Music and Drama Camp, and Special Needs camps. Make a memory for your son/daughter, and/ or your selves this summer! Don t hesitate to invite your child s friends when registering. You do not need to be a member of a United Methodist Church to attend camp. Camp brochures are available in the fellowship hall. To register, fill out the form in the back, include 50% payment (or scholarship request) and give it to Aimee in the church office and she ll handle the rest. You can also view the camping program offerings by going to Grace and peace. Pastor Marianne Hi my name is Elise Lewison. I am a freshman in high school and I have been going to church camp at Lake Lucerne for 4 years. This last year that I went to camp was called Senior High Alive and it was easily the most fun camp I had been to all 4 years I ve attended camp. A very unique thing about this camp was that the majority of teenagers that were there lived in Baraboo. As an incoming freshman that summer, I got to spend a week with many people that I would soon go to school with and build many friendships with them. In addition to the Baraboo friendships I made, I became friends with many people from out of town, and I still communicate with those friends to this day. At these camps, we also do many fun activities like swimming, horseback riding and campfire worship sessions to name a few things.

Prayers for Recent Earthquakes Please join in praying for the people of Nepal, India, and China, and all others affected by the recent earthquakes and avalanches. As we pray, we remember the families of those who have been killed or injured, and the many rescuers, relief workers, physicians, nurses, and other caregivers who are themselves risking their own safety to search for victims and to care for survivors. In the midst of destruction and pain, we look for ways to provide the tangible assistance needed in these times of disaster. As is always the case, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), will respond appropriately and work with other international organizations to provide help. To offer financial support, make out checks to FUMC, write UMCOR Advance # in the memo, and put in the offering plate.
