This Thursday, November 1, is the Solemnity of All Saints and a holy day of obligation. For your convenience, here is the All Saints holy day Mass schedule: One Vigil Mass on Wednesday, October 31 7:00pm Four Masses on the Holy Day, Thursday, November 1 7:00am, 8:30am, 4:00pm, 7:00pm On Friday, November 2, we remember the Poor Souls. Those who have died in the last year will be remembered with special solemnity at the 7:00pm Mass on that Friday. Enter the names of your beloved deceased in the Book of the Dead at the Holy Family Shrine in our church. Those names will be remembered at all Masses during November and once-per-month during the rest of the year. It has been our custom for many years to lay in a big supply of treats and to invite our ghosts and goblins to stop by the Parish Office on Halloween. The candy basket is full and we will hand out the goodies (and enjoy all those great costumes) this Wednesday, October 31, from 6:00pm till 8:00pm. Daylight Savings Time 2018 ends in the wee hours of Saturday to Sunday, November 3/4 next weekend, So turn your clocks and watches BACK ONE HOUR next Saturday night before you go to sleep. November 4 is the feast day of our parish patron, St Charles Borromeo. We priests have asked our classmates, the former associate pastors, priest-sons of the parish, and the priests from neighboring parishes to join us for Evening Prayer at 4:00pm on St Charles Day. Parishioners are most welcome to attend. You will find a November Parish Activities Calendar in this weekend s bulletin. Please clip-and-keep it as a handy reminder of the many things planned for St Charles in the upcoming month. Make a note now to attend our Annual Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, November 22, at 9:30am. Because there is such great need, we moved our Annual Canned Food Drive from November to October. And you were particularly generous. We will continue to collect canned goods during these weeks before the holidays. We help many families and your gifts are welcome and needed. If you collect canned goods at work or at various organizations to which you belong, we would gladly accept those gifts as well during November and December. And now for some really Big News: For the last year, we have been working on bringing the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary to St Charles. The Sisters will be working as nurses at Regina Health Center in Richfield. The red tape and paperwork were more than you can imagine, but I am happy to report that Sisters Consolata, Jacinta, Assunta, and Rita are now on their way to Parma! They will soon move into the Convent at 6818 Charles Avenue and they will assume the expenses for that building. The Sisters will also, as able, become involved in parish life here at St Charles. They wear a distinctive light blue habit. The Parish Feast Day Dinner on Saturday, November 10 (5:00 8:00pm, Corrigan Gym) will be their Official Welcome to the parish. 5 St. Charles Borromeo Church October 28, WOMEN S ADVENT RETREAT Sunday, December 2 11:00am 5:30pm Join the women of St. Charles for a day of renewal, reflection, food, and community. Our second annual Advent Retreat will be held on Sunday, December 2 nd, after the 10:00am Mass in the Parish Activity Center. This retreat is for women age and nursing infants are welcome. 7 St. Charles Borromeo Church October 28, 2018 CYRENIAN MINISTRY Volunteers Needed to Make Sandwiches Sunday, November 4 th On Sunday, November 4 th, the Cyrenian Ministry is making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for three organizations who serve the homeless and individuals in group home living. We make over 500 sandwiches and deliver them to the organizations. If you would like to help, join us in the gym kitchen on November 4 th at 11:00am (after 10:00am Mass). BABYSITTERS NEEDED FOR IMPORTANT MINISTRY St. Charles Parish is proud to continue our Post Cana program for a third consecutive year. One of the elements of the program that makes is so successful is our offering of babysitting. This is where you can help! We're looking for a few Virtus trained adults to work with our babysitting coordinator, Emily Sequin. If you are willing to volunteer your time to help support this ministry, please reach out to Fr. Chris at the parish office The commitment would be from 6:15-8:45pm on select Fridays: 11/09, 12/14, 01/11, 02/08, 03/15, and 04/26.
