Monaghan, a native of Ashtabula, Ohio, ordained a priest in 1907, founded St. Charles Borromeo Parish in St. Charles was just one of many first-ring suburb parishes founded in the Diocese of Cleveland in the years immediately following the First World War. Thirteen families constituted the original membership of the parish. 3

18 Christian Life Community A lay Ignatian, Marian organization founded in the year 1563 by Jean Leunis, S.J.. The St. Charles Our Lady of Guadalupe CLC was organized in 1962 as a men's Sodality by the late Fr. William F. Gibbons. As nearby communities diminished in membership we opened our community to women in the year Unfortunately, our community has also diminished to the point where only two of us have received permanent consecration. We cannot facilitate permanent commitment at this time, however we welcome individuals that belonged to CLC communities in college or other communities to affiliate with us. We would also invite those who have made the Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola to join our current 5 member community. We meet twice monthly on the second and fourth Thursdays from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM in the Parish Activity Center (most members meet only on the second Thursday). We continue to retain active membership in the Nick Rieman SJ. Region which presently consists of communities in Cleveland (east side), Toledo and Michigan. Bob Osterland Holy Mary s Rosary Makers We make rosaries at home for local hospitals, prisoners, and foreign missions. Pauline Fiegelist Holy Name Society A group welcoming men & women to aid in honoring Christ Jesus and His Most Holy Name by fostering knowledge, brotherly love and reverence. Blessed John of Vercelli, in the late 13th Century, promoted the Holy Name of Jesus and is our Founder. To this date our members urge canonization and sainthood for Blessed John. We feature Corporate Communion every 2nd Sunday of the month reinforced by selective meetings of current interest. Fred Hollman Knights of Columbus The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal men's service organization dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Our council is active at the family, parish, diocesean, state and international level. The Knights hold family picnics, a free-throw contest for the youth, help at the parish carnival, support those discerning religious vocations and show appreciation for those already committed to the religious life, support pro-life causes, and raise funds to support parish groups including PTU, and the developmentally disabled. Membership is open to all Catholic Men over the age of 18. Brother Knights and their families are eligible for a variety of insurance products including Permanent and Term Life Insurance, Retirement Annuities, Long-Term Care Insurance and Disability Income Insurance. Meeting are held on the 2 nd and 4 th Mondays of each month in the Parish Activity Center at 7:30pm. Meetings are preceded by the Rosary at 7:15pm. John McQuillen, Grand Knight Legion of Mary The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary s and the Church s work. The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of parishioners in hospitals and nursing homes and in meeting other spiritual needs of the parish community. Meetings are held every Wednesday at 9:15am in the Parish Activity Center. Christine Brindle Rosary Cenacle of Prayer A laity cenacle of the Marian Movement of Priests. We pray the rosary and other prayers for the Church and the whole world. We consecrate ourselves to Mary that she may bring us closer to Jesus and to live the Gospel. We meet Monday evenings from 7:45-8:45pm in Merici Chapel. Sandra Soresso S.W.I.F.T. (Spiritual Women in Faith Together) (formerly M.O.M.S. ~ Ministry of Mothers Sharing) This Ministry is dedicated to embracing every woman's individual journey of spiritual growth during the various phases of her life. Like Mary and Elizabeth, we gather together in friendship to learn, love, and grow in deeper relationship with Christ, which enriches our own personal growth, renews our spirit, and rests in the delight of friendships with other women of all ages and states of life. As such, the program promotes the values of Dignity of Person, Hope, Service and Justice to all those whom we come in contact with each day. Kevin Leigh, Athletic Director Children s Liturgy of the Word Liturgy of the Word is offered for children aged kindergarten to fourth grade at the 10:30am Parish Hall Mass every Sunday between September and May. Susan Mlynek Junior High Youth Ministry This ministry is for all seventh and eighth graders. Teens come together to participate in social, spiritual and service-related events. Through their involvement in JHYM, junior high teens create a more loving and peaceful world by strengthening their personal relationship with Jesus and by participating in service & outreach projects to help others. Sr. Denise Marie Vlna High School Youth Ministry All 9th through 12th graders come together throughout each month for events that are Christ-centered. 22 St. Charles Music Association The St. Charles Music Association is a parent-run organization formed to support the instrumental music program for St. Charles Borromeo School. The instrumental program includes operation of the school band, information on music lessons, and a musical instrument rental program.
