Summer 2015 is moving along much too quickly. Last week was Summer Bible Fun time at St Charles. Dozens St Charles kids had lots of fun: Scripture lessons, songs, games, and crafts made up the five day experience. So here s a Tip of the St Charles Appreciation Hat to Summer Bible Fun Director Martha Bellamy, Rel Ed Coordinator Paula Leigh, and Rel Ed Office Administrator Anita Wozniak and to all who worked with them. Just a reminder: if you know of a family member, friend, or neighbor who has moved to an assisted living facility or to a nursing home, please contact our Parish Office with the name of the parishioner and where they now reside. We keep a list of our elderly and we visit from time-to-time, but we only know who and where if you keep us up-to-date. Your help is needed and appreciated. I make the same request if you know of a parishioner family member, friend, or neighbor who can no longer get to Mass due to age or health. Please contact the Parish Office with their name and phone number. We priests visit monthly with Communion and we can arrange for a weekly visit from a Lay Minister of the Eucharist. We count on you to be our eyes and ears. The Catholic Universe Bulletin, longtime newspaper of the Cleveland Diocese, ceased publication on the first of July. Less reliance on the print media, higher reliance on electronic communication, the declining number of subscriptions, and increasing costs forced the issue. However, in the fall, the Cleveland Diocese will begin publishing in magazine format Northeast Ohio Catholic. All registered parishioners will receive their copy in the mail. The magazine will be published every-other-month. Each parish in our Diocese is asked to welcome a missionary on one weekend of the year. On August 8/9, we will host Sister Jacinta Kimaro, a member of the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary. That is the community of religious women that we helped to establish in Cleveland last summer. Sister will thank us for our generosity in renovating their convent, located in the old St Adalbert Rectory on East 83 rd and Quincy Avenue. Sister Jacinta will also ask us for our help with her Order s work: working with nomadic people, slum dwellers, HIV/Aids patients, single parents, and desperate youth. A few weeks back, in this column, I mentioned that as several parishioners had requested there would be a 2016 Irish Tour next summer July 31 to August 12. Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Donegal, Knock, Westport, Galway, Killarney, Kinsale, and Blarney have been suggested as stops. I would like to make some final determinations and then share the details with you. So, if interested, please leave your name, address, phone and at the Parish Office. No definite commitments or down payments due at this time; I am just gathering information. Family and friends from other parishes are also most welcome to join us.
