Thank you to all families who participated in our service project during the week of Vacation Bible Camp. Because of your generosity, we collected over $750 for the people of Haiti, sponsored by Catholic Relief Services through their CONNECTING KIDS TO JUSTICE program. What a wonderful way to spread the love of Jesus to our neighbors in need! Lisa Hack Mason-Dixon School Supply Collection The Mason-Dixon Community Services serves some of the poorest individuals and families in Harford County. We will be supporting them by collecting school supplies for children in need. Please bring supplies to either the outreach office or to Mass on Sunday. We will run the collection just a short time only August Your donation of any size will be most appreciated. Items needed are: backpacks, 1 1/2 and 2 inch binders, calculators (small), colored pencils, compass, dividers (5 and 8 pack), eraser caps, filler paper (college and wide ruled), highlighters, 3 x 5 index cards, marble Composition Books, markers (broad and thin tip), pocket folders, Post-It notes, report covers, hand sanitizer. Thank You from Our Facilities Department So what do you do when the mechanic tells you... he refuses to work on our old van he will not change the oil that it was beyond repair that the floor was totally rusted out... we decided it was definitely time... for a new van. Through the weekly generosity of our parishioners, we were able to purchase a much-needed new to us 2016 van for our facilities department. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 2 From the Pastor, As we begin a new month this week, I ask all of you to pray for each other. Sometimes we forget that all of us need prayers. We pray for the whole world, our government, all the poor, and those in crisis. However, sometimes we forget the person in the next pew, the senior person that we see every week with a walker, the family with a new baby or the person who sits alone every week. We all need prayers and sometimes it is those whom we least expect need it the most. So I ask that you pray for each other this week. Do what I ask our school children to do. Pray an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be each day for the members of our parish. We all need prayers. God Bless. In short, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey toward full communion in the Roman Catholic Church. It is designed for adults who are either unbaptized or baptized in a non-catholic Christian tradition who are interested in becoming Catholic. RCIA is also for people who are already baptized Catholic, but have not received the remainder of their Sacraments of Initiation (Holy Communion and Confirmation) or religious education. However, RCIA is about so much more than learning what the Catholic Church believes. RCIA is about sharing our faith both the beliefs and the lived experience with people who are seeking to enter into the communion of our Church family. Please consider volunteering in this rewarding ministry. Training and support are provided to anyone who has the desire to pass on their Catholic faith to the children of our parish. First Eucharist and First Reconciliation Preparation Children entering the first or second grade who are not attending Catholic school must be attending Faith Formation in preparation to receive their Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in the second grade. Please enroll your children into Faith Formation before the September 5 deadline. If you have questions, please contact Joan Brown at jmbrown@stmargaret.org. If you have a child older than 2nd grade who has not received these sacraments, contact Joan at jmbrown@stmargaret.org to discuss a plan for your child to receive. FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION Registration for the school year is now available on our parish website, Registration deadline is September 5, Ideas for Catholic Families in August Go outside to do some star watching. How many constellations can you find? St. Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers and has a feast day of August 8. Plan a cookout for your family (or invite friends too!) in honor of St. Lawrence, patron of grill cooks. (August 10th) Make a sacrifice this month that benefits another person. St. Maximillian Kolbe s feast day is August 14. Have some prayer time for family members that may have fallen away from the church. St. Monica s feast day is August 27. Work on memorizing one prayer or Bible verse with your children this month.
