Parents must be a registered members of the Church of Saint Patrick. One Godparent must be confirmed, practicing Catholic. Both must be Christian and at least 16 years old. Parents are required to attend a Baptism preparation program. Please call Annemarie Dirndorfer at for details, to request paperwork or to get more information. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is administered on Saturday 3:00 to 3:30 or you may call the Parish Office for an appointment. SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY: Archdiocesan policy requires couples to make an appointment with a priest or deacon at the parish at least six months before the date of the marriage. 3 Fourth Sunday of Lent Fast & Abstinence During Lent All persons who have reached their 14th birthday are bound by the law of abstinence. All adults are bound by the law of fast up to their 60th year. The current canonical discipline of penance for the United States, in addition to the general character of the Lenten season, may thus be summed up: Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of abstinence from meat and also days of fast; that is, limited to a single full meal. The other Fridays of Lent remain days of abstinence from meat. The Fridays of the year outside Lent remain days of penance, but each individual may substitute for the traditional abstinence from meat some other practice of voluntary self-denial or personal penance; this may be physical mortification or temperance or acts of religion, charity, or Christian witness. Gentle Reminder For sanitary reasons and being mindful of those with gluten allergies, we are not able to provide the opportunity for those wishing to dip the Holy Eucharist into the Wine. Welcome NEW PARISHIONERS: We welcome all new members to our parish family. Please complete a registration form found in the church vestibule or parish office. To participate in the Sacraments of Baptism and Matrimony or to be granted a letter of eligibility for sponsorship at Confirmation or to be a Godparent you must be a registered/active parishioner of the Church of Saint Patrick. If you have any questions, please call the parish office. CARE OF THE SICK: Please notify the Parish Office when a member of the parish is in the hospital or if someone is unable to attend Mass. If they wish to receive the Eucharist or the Sacrament of the Sick, because of a serious illness or major surgery, arrangements will be made when you call the Parish Office. St. Patrick s Eucharistic Ministry Our ministry needs a few more volunteers to visit the sick and bring Holy Communion to patients at Harford Memorial Hospital and Lorien Nursing Home. A visit from a Eucharistic Minister means so much to patients who would otherwise not be able to receive the Eucharist. Volunteers need to complete the Archdiocesan/hospital/ nursing home volunteer requirements. 4 m TREE OF LIFE The Tree of Life located in the side vestibule of the Church, was dedicated on June 12, 2010, as a lasting memorial for our Parish. You may wish to dedicate a leaf on the Tree of Life to honor a special person or occasion. The Church of Saint Patrick has many capital projects that require extraordinary financial support. You may designate the project you wish to support with your donation. Call the Parish Office for more details. Alzheimer s & Dementia Support Group. The Alzheimer's and Dementia Support Group meets on the third Tuesday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Convent on Stokes Street. REMINDER: Rosary for Life is the 2nd Saturday at 3:15. 5 Fourth Sunday of Lent SHIELD THE VULNERABLE FOR PARISH VOLUNTEERS Children s ministry has started during the 10:30 am Mass in the hall. Children who have not received First Eucharist and younger will be able to attend for the entire 10:30am Mass. Parents will need to sign their child in at the beginning of the session and sign them out after Mass. Parents have the option to have their older children come to children s ministry, we encourage them to return to Mass for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Children s ministry will encourage the children to know Jesus and to grow in a relationship with Him; by Bible stories, song, prayer and recreation to teach life lessons for the children. We will be working on the meaning of Mass and Liturgical events for the next couple of months with the children. LIKE MUSIC?! St. Patrick s Youth are generating interest in attending a CONCERT to see SIDEWALK PROPHETS, Friday April7th in Perry Hall, MD! ALL volunteers must be registered in the on-line compliance system in order for our parish to be in compliance w Archdiocesan youth protection requirements for volunteers who work with minors, employees, and clergy.
