COMING EVENTS Senior Seminar: On Monday, Jul 30, from 10 am to 1 pm, Congressman Eric Swalwell will sponsor a seminar for seniors in Eden Church's Oliver Hall. The day begins with a Senior Scam Stopper seminar and panel discussion from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a resource fair with a multitude of organizations serving seniors, their families, and caregivers. Backpack and School Supplies Donations: Eden Church and its partners will be collecting backpacks and school supplies to distribute to school age children in our neighborhood. This year's backpack distribution will be on Wednesday, Aug 8. New backpacks and school supplies can be dropped off at the Eden Church Office anytime during the month of July. To donate either cash or a gift card, contact Andrea Orea ChYLI Fiesta: The Cherryland Youth Leadership Institute (ChYLI), now in its seventh year of operation, is fully subscribed with 18 students. The 2018 session began on Jul 5 and culminates with the ChYLI Fiesta on Friday, Aug 10, from 6-8 p.m. in Oliver Hall. Traditional Mexican cuisine will be served. Tickets for the fiesta are $10/adults (children under 12 are free) and may be purchased online at and held at the door. 5 Concert in the Park/Benefit for FESCO & La Familia: On Sunday, Aug 12, from 1 to 5 pm, the Hayward Odd Fellows and H.A.R.D. present a Free Summer Concert at the Hayward Memorial Park located at Mission Blvd in Hayward (next to the Plunge Indoor Swimming Pool). The concert, a benefit for FESCO and La Familia, will feature Giant Garage Spiders with Sycamore 129 Blues Band as well as Celebrity Chef Hayward City Councilman Mark Salinas. Enjoy music and dance, play chess, and create chalk art! Bring a picnic basket (no alcohol). This event is FREE as part of Hayward s 9th Annual Music & Art in the Park! SMALL GROUPS Seekers Book Club: Our weekly book discussion group reading, Surprised by Joy by C.S. Lewis this summer. We meet each week on Wednesdays at 10 am in the Fireside Room. For more information, contact Pastor Pepper. Single Women s Group: Single women meet for fellowship and lunch on the first Friday of every month. The next meeting is Friday, Aug 3. Sign-up in the Church Office. Bible Study: Our biweekly Bible Study is on hiatus until the Fall. Plans are underway for a Spanishlanguage Bible Study as well. PROGRAMS & ANNOUNCEMENTS Summer STEM Class: The STEM Future Foundation and GME Corporation are partnering with Eden Church to host a 5-week summer STEM (science, technology,engineering, math) program called We All Win With Stem! for students entering grades 4 to 6. The program runs from Jun 18 to Jul 31 and meets Mondays and Tuesdays from 1:30 to 4:30 pm in the Jensen Room. There is no cost and STEM Kit Materials and snacks are provided..
