1 DEC, 19, 2017 THE CHURCH VISITOR A Savior is Born. Your Savior. My Savior. Everyone s Savior has come. The queseon is what do we do with that? Are we going to do anything with that? Are we going to Go Tell It on the Mountain that Jesus Christ is Born? To just know it is not enough! To tell the world is God s desire and plan for us. Jesus, in the Gospel of MaNhew, shares what His expectaeons and results are. A Savior is Born It s hard to believe that Christmas is just a few days away. Advent Season has passed us by once again, and we are on the brink of a New Year. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let s think about the days that are just ahead. On this Christmas Eve, we will be celebraeng two services: one at regular worship Eme on Sunday morning and then our Candlelight Service at 7:00 pm. I hope you make the Eme to come to both. It s intereseng as Lisa and I have been talking about, and working on, the final projects at the parsonage, we realized that we began the inieal tear out of the parsonage project 3 years ago on Christmas Eve. Three years of hard work to create something bener for us and for the church. The work we put into that house represents some of the best work we have ever done. AOer the first of the year, we will let you come and see what s been done. Now, except for a few doors, the parsonage looks nearly new inside. It s something we ought to be proud of, and Lisa and I are grateful for the resources the church provided for these projects. Matthew 10:32-33 (NLT) 32 Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. A Savior is Born. Right? Do we understand what that means not only to us but to every person we meet? Within us lies the hope of the world, but we have to choose to act. You see it is up to us. What are we going to choose to do? Are we going to tell someone, anyone about our Eme kneeling at the manger, or looking up to a Savior on the Cross and then set aside our insecuriees and do something, or are we just going to just wish others a Merry Christmas? A Little BRITE ness from Linda From Jesse W. Addison s book Where Will You Be When You Get Where You Are Going? Our dependence on God and others is quickly revealed in the Lord s Prayer. We are taught to recognize God in His holy, highest, hallowed post, and to ask Him to do His will in heaven and on earth. Come, Lord Jesus, Come! Our lament for bread today and tomorrow reveals how we are dependent on not only a full crop of grain but also the collective labor resources to shape the harvest into serving portions for our table. We desperately need God and other people. We must ask forgiveness for ourselves, and we must forgive others. We especially need God and people to protect us from the Evil One. Finally, we again acknowledge God and His almighty kingdom, unmatched power, and glory throughout all eternity. Jesus taught His prayer while simultaneously revealing His plan. It starts with a pure kingdom and ends with a pure kingdom, and in between, evil will be crushed to ruins. We are dependent on Him for all our needs, and we are dependent on others just as they are dependent on us. Recognizing the role of dependency in a Christian s life is vital to strong relationships with God and with others. (96) Blessings, Linda Barnette

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service Sunday, Dec. 24 7:00 pm We invite you and your family and friends to our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service this Sunday, December 24, at 7:00 pm. Pastor Paul will be giving a Christmas Message & Prayer, Communion will be served by intinction, special music will be provided, and the Light from the Christ Candle will be lit (at this time the congregation will turn on their candles). We will be singing familiar carols as the candles flicker throughout the sanctuary. Come early and enjoy some treats! Don t miss out on this meaningful service!
