1 AUG 15, 2017 THE CHURCH VISITOR As we go forward, because of this new equipment, I think worship is going to get even better. I think as we are more faithful as a Body of Christ, God s activity through the life of this, HIS church, will become more pronounced and identifiable. And in that movement of the Spirit of God, we will offer thanksgiving, praise, and honor. God is worthy to be praised and worshipped. 50 Years and Counting This past Sunday we had a great worship - all of the new equipment was up and fully functioning for the first time! We had many compliments about the new sound system as well as the projectors, and the more we get used to the equipment the more we will be able to use its full capabilities. For the moment, we have state-of-the-art equipment to support one of them out important and public ministries.our Worship Ministry team. I think we will discover throughout the Fall season just how much difference this new equipment can make as we worship and head toward the Holiday season. I m sure 50 years ago when this new sanctuary was planned and built, that those involved would expect no less from us that to be up-to-date and relevant as church in the world today. Part of that is utilizing the best equipment and technology to make worship the best we can. In this, we have honored those that have come before us as well as those who will come in the future. We also honor God by giving our very best in our worship to bring Glory to Him. On Sunday I mentioned that we had people who helped here at church from 6 or 7 years old to 93. The greatest determinate of our participation is obviously our willingness. Be willing and get involved and see how even little things can make a difference. I m Not Going to Stop! I believe Bible study and prayer hold the greatest hope for the future of God s church here at RHCC. I believe the more that we participate regularly in these two areas, the more we will see God bringing others to our church. So, don t think about it and don t hesitate. Do your part and pray and study. Seek first the Kingdom of God

3 AUGUST CALENDAR Sunday, August 20 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (NIV) Tuesday, August 22 CWF Visitation Day - 9:30 am Sunday, August 27 CWF Tea after church BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES Sept. 17 is National Back to Church Sunday Let s Pray for 200 at Back to Church Sunday! August Birthdays Dalpha Lloyd Shay Lawson Jean Plummer Rosemary Pentecost August Anniversaries Paul & Lisa Klaus Things to be Done? As we head toward Back to Church Sunday and our Fall church season, we need to cleanup and get ready for our guests. It isn t always big stuff that needs to be done; oftentimes, it s things like un-cluttering and putting things back to where they belong. There are plants outside that need to be watered regularly and weeds that need to be eradicated. Call a ministry team leader and see if you can help them in some way. Church becomes a much better place when we take initiative and when we start doing and stop just observing. Think of our campus, and think how you would prepare your home if guests were coming. Most of the same things apply here. Thanks, in advance, for helping out. Sunday, August 27 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9 (NIV)

6 Quote from: The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer Thank You Note Thank you so much for the wonderful Sip and See held for myself and Baby Elijah last weekend. The shower was amazing. Thank you to all of my hostesses for their time, energy, and thoughtfulness. Thank you to my loving and wonderful church congregation for all the gifts and support poured out to the both of us. I can not wait to raise my son in the church in which I was raised with my amazing church family. Wonderfully Blessed, Rachel Walther Nominating Committee & Stewardship Campaign First, I want to ask you to pray how you will serve and how much you will commit to help the church financially in You see, serving and the level of that service are the key to what you will give. Generally, people who serve more give more. We are already putting together our budget for 2018, so that means our Stewardship Campaign will be around the corner. The Nominating Committee is being formed, so be prepared to do your part when called upon. All that we do and all that we give reveals why we believe about God. So, if God has given to us generously, we are called to give back of ourselves generously. Prayer O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus name. Amen. Quote from: The Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren For your church to be most effective in evangelism you must decide on a target. Discover what types of people live in your area, decide which of those groups your church is best equipped to reach, and then discover which styles of evangelism best match your target. While your church may never be able to reach everyone, it is especially suited to reaching certain types of people. Knowing who you re trying to reach makes evangelism much easier. Quote from: Moving from I to We by Dr. Paul R. Ford How well connected are you to other believers, regardless of how solid your knowledge of Scripture? Understanding and applying truth depends upon your body-life connections. In the iron sharpening iron process and the steps lived out in relationship, we must traverse the paths of life and work together. Are you full of answers, but not well tied into others who can train, counsel and encourage you with that Bible you know so well?

8 Letter from Wounded Warrior Project Dear caring friend, Few things are more vital than reaching out to America s wounded service members, as you did with your generous gift of $ in memory of Chris Kyle. For these troops, many of them young adults, your patriotic kindness provides a hand up as they begin new lives after sustaining severe injuries and trauma. As a partner in the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors, you help these men and women move back into the mainstream of the great American life they protected for you and me. As soon as wounded heroes leave the war zone and arrive at a hospital, you re at their bedsides, hand in hand with Wounded Warrior Project. Through a broad spectrum of WWP programs, you stay with the wounded throughout their recoveries. Many people use the phrase Support Our Troops, but you put those words into action with your recent gift. Imagine a warrior who sacrificed limbs or sight in Iraq or Afghanistan now skiing down the side of a mountain, starting college, helping a fellow warrior, or beginning a new job! These images come to mind when I reflect on the power of your recent gift to WWP. You have my deepest appreciation. Saluting Your Generosity, Michael S. Linnington Lieutenant General, U.S. Army, Retired Chief Executive Officer, Wounded Warrior Project Dear Christian Women s Group: Thank you so very much for the pillows you sew and make available through Texas Oncology in Bedford. My pillow is wonderful and very helpful in many, many ways. I have been holding onto these fabrics for some reason now I think it was to send your way. Thank you for all you do and your prayers. Gwyn Garner Footnote: Our CWF was blessed with some beautiful fabric from Gwyn for use of making more heart pillows to give to Texas Oncology! Thank you Gwyn!
