Perhaps we need to look at the remodel as a gift to such a beautiful place of worship and fellowship. Thank you, Jan Plunkett, for pointing this out to me this past Sunday.

1 AUG 8, 2017 T H E C H U R C H V I S I TO R The BIG 50? Something extraordinary is happening this Sunday. On August 13, 1967 the first worship service was held in the Sanctuary we currently worship in. So that means for 50 years, this congregation has been worshipping a Holy and Loving God together in the Sanctuary we just finished remodeling. Perhaps we need to look at the remodel as a gift to such a beautiful place of worship and fellowship. Thank you, Jan Plunkett, for pointing this out to me this past Sunday. Thinking about those 5o years prompted me to look in the Historical Room and study some of the historical documents that tell the story of our family in faith that spreads across the years. It was interesting to see some of the articles and information about Rev. Hugh Baker. Very early on during his time here, he had a vision for a thriving and growing church and started planning and working toward that end. I hope some of you remember those days and know it is only through God s grace and love that we will be here on Sunday, August 13, o years later. Know that God still has plans for us and for His work to be accomplished through us as the Body of Christ. As we go forward, we continue to plan for the future and know that God holds us in His hands. Without God s help and direction, we cannot accomplish the redemptive work we have been called to. So, let us together press in towards God and study His Word and be guided by the Holy Spirit. With God guiding us and his Word granting us His wisdom, we will journey down the path as He leads the way. Study, Pray, Grow, Serve In the Gathering Area, the Bible study plans have been replenished. If you haven t started reading through the Bible this year, now is the time. Each Sunday before Sunday School at 8:45 to 9:15am, we gather for prayer in the Sanctuary. Prayer connects us to God like nothing else we do, so stop by and join us. In addition to regular Sunday school classes, we oﬀer other studies (Every member who has requested it should have access to RightNow Media) in order that we may grow together in this journey we share. Finally, let us each work to discover our gifts and use them to bring glory to God through faithful and loving service to each other. Sunday, August 13, 2017 Sermon Title: Church WHAT? As we head toward Back to Church Sunday and our Fall church season, we need to cleanup and get ready for our guests. It isn t always big stuff that needs to be done; oftentimes, it s things like un-cluttering and putting things back to where they belong. There are plants outside that need to be watered regularly and weeds that need to be eradicated. Call a ministry team leader and see if you can help them in some way. Church becomes a much better place when we take initiative and when we start doing and stop just observing. Think of our campus, and think how you would prepare your home if guests were coming. 6 SPLASH DAY FUN! RightNow Media It occurred to us recently that we have not men3oned this great resource the church provides in quite some 3me. Chris3an Ed made a decision a few years ago to invest in RightNow Media as resource that can be accessed from any smart device(tv, phone, computer) where you can look at a wide range of material--all Chris3an: Bible studies, cartoons, marital aids, conference presenta3ons, leadership development (great for work also), and the list goes on. Many of you signed up for it originally, but I have no way of knowing who is using it regularly. If you start looking at some of these amazing resources, you will discover just how valuable they can be. One of our members on Sunday shared with Pastor Paul that they had been looking for more resources for Bible study. They logged onto RightNow Media and found some great stuff. Take some 3me, check it out, and find the treasure that can be found. Currently, RightNow Media says they have 14,000 Chris3an resources. Sanctuary Renovation Breakfast and Work Day - Aug. 5 Many thanks to the DMF for providing breakfast before our Work Day last Saturday! Thank you, also, to ALL who showed up (around 25) to prepare our church for worship on Sunday, August 6th. They dusted, vacuumed, mopped, moved furniture, and placed the hymnals, Bibles, and offering envelopes in the pews. There is truth in: Many hands, make light work!
