2 St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church May 10, :30 worship GATHERING WELCOME Donald R. Frampton VOLUNTARY Steven B. Blackmon ANNOUNCEMENTS Mission Moment: PW Birthday Offering Ann Van Horn *CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive) Miles Thomas Everyone who has faith in Christ is a reborn child of God. If we love the One who conceives the child, we ll surely love the child who was conceived. The reality test on whether or not we love God s children is this: Do we love God? Do we keep God s commandment to love God and neighbor? The proof that we love God comes when we keep this commandment. Let us worship God! *prayer OF THE DAY *HYMN 475 "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing nettleton CALL TO CONFESSION Philip L. Stagg We have been called to follow Christ by obeying his one commandment: that we love one another as he has loved us. Let us confess how we have fallen short of that love. PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Loving God, we have not loved you or each other with our whole hearts. Neither have we led lives that have produced the fruits of your love and justice. Forgive us, we pray, and lead us toward wholeness, that our joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. SILENT CONFESSION KYRIE Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord, have mercy. DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS (responsive), based on John 15:3 Christ, the Son of God, loves us so much that he laid down his life for us and calls us his friends. If we can forgive our friends, how much more does Christ forgive us! Amen. THE WORD PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION (responsive) Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us, O God, in the reading of your Word, that we would hear what you have to say to us today. May your Holy Spirit be poured out upon us; through Jesus Christ. Amen. FIRST READING Acts 10:44-48 This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. *Please stand as you are able. Please silence cell phones during the worship service.

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
