When taken to the American Legion (Ed DeKoekkoek is our deliveryman) they become part of a project that helps with children s medical expenses and equipment. Your tabs can be dropped off in the TRC kitchen in the marked container. Why not take a few extra seconds and be part of this worthwhile project? State Park Picnic: Join us at the Grand Haven State Park for a picnic dinner on July 13 at 6pm! Bring your dinner, beverages, and tableware and some friends for beachside fellowship. Feel free to bring a dish or dessert to pass, but don't feel obligated! July 22 is the Annual Senior Pontoon Trip with the Garbrechts and Musgraves! Watch the Sunday Paper and bulletin board for more details. Space is limited so be sure to sign up right away when the sign-up sheet is available!

3 Prayer Corner Colossians 1:9-14 Sometimes we want to pray for another person but aren t sure what to say. If you ve ever been confused about how to intercede for someone, Paul s prayer in Colossians is appropriate for every person and every situation. Because it aligns perfectly with God s will, you can ask these requests with confidence both for yourself and for others: To be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Not only do we need to know God s plan for our lives; we also require discernment to distinguish His guiding voice from our own self-directed notions. To joyously give thanks for all God has done for us. Believers should be characterized by joy and gratitude. Too often we focus our requests on temporal needs and miss the deeper spiritual work God wants to do. Imagine how effective your prayers will be if you ll shift the emphasis of your petitions to the Lord s desires. He will transform you and the people for whom you intercede. To walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in all ways. Our lives should be patterned after the One we follow, with a goal of glorifying Him. To bear fruit in every good work. Instead of being wrapped up in our own jobs, possessions, pleasures, and plans, we should be contributing to others lives. To increase in the knowledge of God. By reading His Word and applying it to our lives, we will gain a deeper understanding of the Lord. To be strengthened with His power so we remain steadfast. 4 ONE GLASS OF MILK One day, a young, poor boy named Howard Micum was selling some goods door to door to make money to help pay his way through school. He had hoped to one day become a doctor. He lived in a small town in Western Michigan and his family had very little money and he often went hungry. As he went about his way, he decided he would ask for a meal at the next house he saw, however, when he knocked at the door he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. The woman could see that he looked hungry so instead of water she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, how much did he owe her? You don t owe me anything, she replied. My mother taught me to never accept pay for a kindness. He said... Then I thank you from my heart. As Howard left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in mankind soared as well. Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The doctors at her local medical facility were baffled with her case and after a time sent her to a larger institution with specialists that might be able to better assess her rare disease. Dr. Howard Micum was called in to consult. When he heard the name of the town the woman was from he immediately went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor s gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day on he gave her case special attention. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Micum requested that the business office pass the woman s final bill on to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge of the invoice and had it sent to her room. The woman was very apprehensive about opening the bill, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay it off. When she looked at the invoice the handwritten note in the corner caught her attention. She read these words Paid in full with one glass of milk (Signed) Dr. Howard Micum Tears of joy flooded her eyes as she felt the joy of love that had spread broad through human hearts and hands. There s a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the waters always comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place. WOW is an unique experience that blends the music and passion of worship with the overwhelming beauty of God s creation. Sponsored by the First Reformed of Grand Haven, WOW is celebrating 71 years of ministry this summer! WOW is held on Sunday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm, at the Waterfront Stadium.
