1 Thoughts from the Headmaster Last week was an exciting week at Atlantic Christian Academy! It was our spring spiritual emphasis week. Monday through Wednesday, three inspiring speakers challenged our secondary students to examine the idea of God s calling in their lives. On Thursday and Friday, the elementary students examined prayer and looked closely at the Lord s prayer. Students were introduced to the prayer room on our campus where parents and students can come to pray on T uesday and Thursday mornings. Another part of the exciting week was the Parenting on Purpose seminar held on Friday evening and Saturday morning, taught by Dr. Bob Barnes. Dr.Barnes helped us examine our role as parents while teaching on the following topics: The Power of No, Discipline, Raising a Responsible Child, and What Every Child Needs to Know. The truths in God s Word combined with very practical parenting ideas further equipped our ACA staff and parents to help raise this next generation of Christian leaders. Dr. Barnes website, ParentingOnPurpose.org is a valuable resource for you to continue to use. You can download daily podcasts on key parenting topics. I also encourage you to catch his daily radio program by the same name. It can be found each day between 2:45 and 3:00pm at 96.7 FM or FM. The same message can also be found on his website. As parents, God has given us a wonderful opportunity and awesome responsibility with our children. A key part of our mission statement is the phrase...as we partner with parents in Christian education. This kind of partnering with parents is happening everyday as ACA teachers, administrators, and support staff work with Committed to glorifying God by discipling students in a loving community that pursues excellence as we partner with parents in Christian education. 2 Freshmen art students Holly Heers and Christina Inget had an opportunity to become chalkheads in this year s festival in Lake Worth on Saturday, February 21st. Even though they got rained on twice and ended up covered in dust, both were talking about ideas for next year s festival already. This was cool, but next year we ll do something even more 3D! said Holly. Wisdom Kids February, 2015 Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. 3 Spring Spiritual Emphasis Week Answering the Call Mon-Fri, Feb 23-27, ACA students experienced a series of chapel services that provided a wonderful opportunity to deepen their relationship with God. The first three days, secondary students opened with poignant worship songs led by Mr. Rios. They were challenged by JR Gamble of Redeeming Love Ministries, Phillip Harrelson of The Journey Church and Tim Aken from The Family Church. Notes: Day 1: God has a greater plan for your life. Every Christian must have a heart to please God. He calls everyone to two things salvation and service, not accolades and success. How do you know what success is? It is the fulfilling of the call of God on your life. How do you hear, recognize, and answer that call? Day 2: Paper airplanes were made and thrown, encouraging everyone to get off the bench and be a part of the team. No gamewinning shots, no game-saving tackles are ever made from the bench, Pastor Harrelson revealed. It takes risk it takes action. So, what is your holy discontent? Identify and rectify it! Day 3: The story from Luke 7 about the woman who attended to Jesus (washing drying and anointing his feet) was dissected and illustrated how Jesus calls all sinners to repentance, forgiveness and love. Those who have been forgiven much will love much. Thursday and Friday, elementary students met in the gym to get a better understanding about prayer from Michelle Federico, founder of the Community Prayer Room that we have on campus. She explained how the prayer Jesus gave the disciples when they asked him how to pray (the Lord s Prayer) was really a pattern of how to talk to God. Prayer should be a conversation with God, not complicated or fancy. When the students met again on Friday, they visited several spots set up in the gym that had various prayer focus points. There was even an area for students to write down their prayer request so others could talk to God on their behalf....and How do you answer the call? How do you understand God s greater plan for you? Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you

5 What an AWESOME season our winter athletes had! Both our Varsity Basketball teams earned the title of District Champions and our Elem Girls Volleyball team were PACC runners-up... and it s not over yet... Varsity Boys Basketball: They call us We started the season establishing our five day to day goals: 1. Respect and trust your teammates; 2. Have a positive impact on someone else; CHAMPS! 3. Dominate your opponent; 4. Be responsible and 5. Act like a champion. These goals came after our ultimate goal which is to grow in our walk with the Lord. These young men embraced these goals. They learned to love each other and to play for one another. In the end, we accomplished what few people thought we would. I want to go on record in saying that this team is one of the hardest-working and unselfish teams that I ve ever coached. I thank God that I was chosen to lead this group. They have taught me so much about overcoming challenges and adversity and I am tremendously proud to say that I am their coach. To all of the parents, administration, and staff, we say thank you for your support. Thank you to all of the assistant coaches who sacrificed time and energy to help our team. None of our team s success would have been possible without you! We love you very much. To my seniors, I m praying for your continued success in life. God has so many wonderful things in store for you. I m excited about your future. To all my players, you learned many lessons but one in particular: You must always finish and follow through with whatever task God sets before you. - Coach Gamble please Come Support Us! Baseball is finally getting into their groove! Visit the website for schedules. Track, MS Flag Football and Elementary Basketball will be starting soon! Leo: safe at first base. Whew! Team Dubinsky on the mound and at the plate. The elementary girls volleyball team had such a wonderful season! In nail-biting final tournament games, they came from behind to win the first round but fell to TCA by a mere two points. They dried some tears and brought home the PACC runner up trophy. We are so proud of you all! Celebrating a home victory 8-1 Thank you for partnering with us and supporting the ministry of Atlantic Christian Academy info@atlanticchristianacademy.org
