Its mission? Culture? Historical Roots? All of these questions are answered in this pamphlet by ACA students. This information The Eighth Grade authors answers one overall question: What is Annunciation Catholic Academy? Pages 4-5 Pages 6-7 Pages 8-9 Pages Pages Thomas Bittenbender Brian Lasher Gabrialle Cerasoli Melanie Halem Cameron Ugan
Culture Across By: Thomas Bittenbender Generations The younger students were happy that they have fun and kind teachers. They were also thankful that they were able to attend Mass every Tuesday. One thing that all grades could agree on about the school is that they couldn't be happier with the culture and environment that they are a part of everyday at Annunciation Catholic Academy. Annunciation Catholic Academy imparts its culture across all generations. I interviewed ACA students from different grades to find out what they thought of the culture here at our school. The older students had a deeper appreciation for the teachings that they had received. Eighth grade students were very thankful that they were able to have a Catholic education and be open about there religion without persecution.
IDENTITY. By Brian Lasher Annunciation Catholic Academy has many things to offer for all interests. ACA has a lot of different children with different interests. Annunciation meets the criteria well of the aspect that there are things for everyone to do. If you are interested in athletics, ACA has a sports organization. If you are interested in the fine arts, ACA has music and art classes. ACA has also built time into interests. If you usually are always staying late in Extended Care, then there are after school extra-curricular activities for all interests. Annunciation also embraces the Catholic faith through many different ways. This is Annunciation Catholic Academy and this is our identity. Annunciation has many activities that all grades can enjoy. There are many sports that all grades can enjoy. In kindergarten to 5th grade students can participate in the Catholic Youth League. Elementary students can play basketball, flag football, soccer, and girls lacrosse. Middle school students can participate in CMAC, Catholic Middle School Athletic Conference. CMAC is composed of 4 sports, basketball, track, volleyball, and soccer. Students from 5th to 8th can participate in CMAC. Students from 4th to 8th grade can play in the ACA Band. The band is made up of two groups: the Beginning Band and the Advance Band. The Beginning Band is mainly made up of 4th graders or new beginners to the band. The Advance Band members are mainly made up of band players that already have 1 year of experience. In the band, you can play any concert orchestra instrument from brass to woodwinds to strings. Some students may have a very specific favorite subject that they would like to have more time in or learn more about. These are called after-school activities. Teachers offer classes to students, like art or music, where they can create more or learn more about that particular subject. These few examples of what Annunciation Catholic Academy has to offer is only the tip of the iceberg. There are many other clubs, activities, and social events. there are middle school dances that are only for the middle school students, socials for elementary students, and class parties celebrating different holidays. This is Annunciation and this our identity. Annunciation Catholic Academy is Catholic school located in Altamonte Springs, FL. The school has grade levels from kindergarten to 8th grade. Annunciation Catholic Academy is split into three colors. Kindergarten to 2nd grade wears red shirts, 3rd-5th grade wears blue shirts, while middle school wears green shirts. Annunciation teaches a wide plethora of subjects from religion to Spanish. Annunciation Catholic Academy is made up of 538 students. All in which have different interests. ACA has everything from poetry to volleyball. At Annunciation, there are many clubs, after school activities, athletics, and is constantly devoted to the Catholic faith. There are many clubs centered around academics. For example, you can become a Quill Society member. The Quill Society demonstrates a student's pride and devotion of writing. Here, he or she can talk about writing with their fellow Society members. Another club centered around academics is National Junior Honor Society. NJHS is a club that 8th and 7th graders are apart demonstrating high academic achievement. To be inducted in this club is very high honor and very hard. Some more clubs are centered around Catholicism. For example, you can be an altar server in the Church. These few clubs are only a very small taste of what Annunciation has to offer to its students and faculty. There are many clubs at ACA that are a very high honor to be apart of.
Student Body Gabriella Cerasoli This graph shows that 0.8% of our school body is black, 5% is Asian, 15% is Hispanic, 3% is multiracial, 0.1% is Pacific Islander, and 76% is white. Annunciation Catholic Academy has instilled a strong faith in all of its students. As the graph shows, Annunciation Catholic Academy has students of all ethnic backgrounds. Since the first Catholic school was made, our faith and education system has evolved greatly. This school works to strengthen all aspects of the Catholic student.
I ve come to appreciate how much a person s character is valued and how it impacts others. To be caring lets you reach out and help others. It is also the foundation for courage which you need to stand up for what you care about. Determination and hard work are needed to reach your goals which are fueled by ambition. Responsibility and honesty are essential for becoming a good leader. When you respect others, you can find the good in them. Service allows us to help those in need. The academy has helped me to learn the importance of my character and to develop it. Our Values By: Cameron Ugan The academy has taught why we value talents. We believe in students finding their hidden talents to make the world a better place. Those who excel in academics can bring us new technology and discover hidden information to move the world in the right direction. Athletes unite us and artists help us express ourselves. If you know what your talents are, you can use them to reach your goals. When achieving a goal as a group, it will be easier is you can recognize and respect the talents of others. This was instilled in me from a very young age at the academy. Annunciation has taught me very important lessons. If you keep your faith strong and put it first, everything will fall into place. It is important to develop your character for the better and to let it show. When you find your talents and respect those of others, you can achieve greater goals with more people.by using these lessons, you can make a difference. I ll never forget these lessons. Annunciation Catholic Academy s priority is to develop all aspects of its students. Throughout my years here, I ve been able to learn, understand and appreciate the values of the academy. Since I ve been able to do this, I ve been able to grow in these values. They are faith, character, achievement and use of talents. Being Annunciation Catholic Academy, faith is an extremely important part of who we are, and what we value. I ve seen this on the outside when we attend mass and receive the Eucharist. In class we re taught about the Eucharist and sacraments3, how to appreciate them, what they mean to use and the roles they play in our lives. This year I ve learned how the Catholic Social Teachings act as guide lines for making choices. We re taught and encouraged to evangelize through our actions and to live out God s plan for our lives. I ve learned how important my Catholic community is, but most of all, I ve learned how it is God s plan for a united church and how I m a part of that plan.
Annunciation Catholic Academy s Mission The staff and students work, to preach like our Creator, They work to live like God, our Heavenly Neighbor. The school will prepare us as Catholic beings, In this modern world, our faith we ll practice and favor. By: Melanie Halem The students will be taught to contribute by the school, To the Evangelization Mission of the Church, to all of God s souls. To spread the Word, and convert citizens alas. As new Catholic Christians, part of our Catholic Whole. Does Annunciation Catholic Academy have a mission? So what is our mission, that s the question you ask? It s the way we live, the way we complete each task. We focus on others, ourselves, and the unborn, We re Annunciation. We don t hide behind masks. Of course we do! It s important to us, too We stand in the open, like STARS we are soarin We are taught to love the poor, and help out the worn. Our mission, in short, is to be like Jesus Christ. To live like Him, so when He comes again, we re reborn! Annunciation has a mission to complete, To teach the whole school how to gain important feats. To be like Jesus, our Lord, God s beloved Son, So, at the End of our world, He and we will meet. The Academy and the Church will work as One, When they ve taught the Gospel and our beliefs, they ll have just begun. Begun to instill our mission to those children, Through all nine years, our school s work will never be done. With the Holy Spirit, our Academy, Will teach everyone in it, to try not to sin. To not sin is to be like our Lord, our Savior, That s what our school wants: to teach all to live like Him.
