The catalog is full of ideas and gifts for the holidays! PCA receives 40% of every item and all proceeds go directly to benefit Princeton Christian Academy or for those students going to Washington DC in the spring and participate in this fundraiser their portion will go towards their trip! Customers also have the option to order online at where there are more things to choose from. The online orders began on Fri., October 27th. The fundraiser will run from October 20th November 10 th to insure that we will receive the order before Christmas. Again, all orders must be handed in on or before Friday, November 10th. Everyone of these shoeboxes in an opportunity for the Gospel to be spread and you are a part of that! Located in the school foyer across from the office is a bulletin board with boxes and the brochure explaining what can be put into the box along with the label of age appropriate gifts. Usually each class participates to fill their own box, but you and your family is also welcome to give. Once the box is filled, a donation of $9 is needed to cover the shipping and other costs. If you cannot personally fill a box, the office will accept monetary donations to cover boxes that may come in without money. For gift ideas and information on how to track your box, you may go to samaritanspurse.org/occ. The turn-in date for our school is Monday, November, 13th. What a blessing to give to others! Take your child, grandchild, nieces, nephews, mom, dad, whoever shopping and be blessed as we all learn to give from our abundance! OCC Testimony! 8 yr. old Paola in Peru attended our classes because she wanted to learn more about God s Word. As she studied, she shared everything she learned with six of her cousins and they all accepted Christ! What a blessing the transforming power of Jesus Christ is!! Bus students! Please note that there will be no bus service on Friday afternoon, November 3rd. PCA MISSION STATEMENT ~ To provide an excellent academic education with a Christian world view based on the absolute authority of God s Word, the Holy Bible.

From Mr. Odell s desk: (God s Word given to teachers each week and we want to share with you, also!) Romans 8: Therefore, brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs - heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. God s Word clearly declares that it is the Holy Spirit who works in us supernaturally to regenerate us, to give new life where there was only death, new appetites for God and his truth where before there were none, joining us to the death of Christ so that we might have the status of sons. And not only the status but also the experience of being God s children. We have received, as Paul says, the Spirit of adoption as sons so we can justly...cry Abba Father! The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God All of this, of course, is internal. It takes place in the depths of our soul and it encompasses all that we are. God is truly standing before us, who claim Christ as Savior, and summons us to come out of ourselves and know Him. Anything in our lives that is contrary to the heart and mind of God is literally choosing to live in the part of us which is dead. Let us respond to God in all ways that reflect the wonder that we have been adopted into God s family and which demonstrate the power of new life in Christ. For Your Information: On Monday, Nov. 6 from 9-11a.m., each class will be attending a Fire Safety Program put on by the Princeton Fire Dept. Ask your student what they learned during that time. Reminder that on Wed., November 8th, if you missed the school picture taken the first time or you do not like the picture taken, you have the chance to have retakes done on this date beginning at 8:15. The office has picture envelopes. School interviews with WUNT Radio Station 88.3FM Our local Christian radio station WUNT visited our school a few weeks ago and interviewed the students of what they are thankful for. Beginning November 1st and throughout the whole month, you will be able to tune in to hear these interviews at approximately the times of 7:15A, 3:45P, 6:00P & 8:00P. It was fun and we hope you enjoy them! 3 THANK you for all your help! A huge thank you to those who attended and to those who donated food items for the PCA Oktoberfest Supper last Saturday evening. Food was great and visiting with family and friends was a blessing! Thank you, Darin & Beth, for all you did in the kitchen along with many other volunteers! And thank you to Gary & Kim Forristall (Jared Zawistowski s (Kindergarten) grandparents and Mrs. Z s parents) for the delicious homemade ice cream that you made and donated for the Washington DC trip. It was a fun evening! And one more thank you! A big thank you to all who donated items for ort PCA holiday Sale. The students were thrilled with their purchases - faces glowed! A special thank you to Jan Skaggs, Joyce Imsland, Kay Huber, Yvonne Murray and her children, Samantha and Corwin, and Jeff Huber - all helped with set up, tear down, and/or running the sale. What a blessing they were to me! Dress for the weather! As the cold weather is upon us, please be sure to dress your student for warmth. We try to let the students go outside as much as possible. Heavier coats, hats, gloves are required and as the temps drop and snow comes, snow pants and boots will also be needed. If you would like to bring a second set of hat/gloves to be placed in the student s locker, it is a good idea. Thank you for your attention to this! We care that the students are warm as they enjoy the colder months of God s creation! TEACHER S NOTES FOR YOU! Band Beats Mrs. Marshall Beginning band is off to a great start! They will be playing at the junior high band and choir concert on Friday 12/15 at 6:30 pm. Advanced Band will be tested over concert Bb and F scales this week. We are preparing to perform on Veterans Day and for our Christmas concert 12/15. Get a glimpse into the marching band life! 25 News published a fantastic four part story on Peoria marching bands: Music Notes Mrs. Marshall Who knows? Your musicians may one day play in marching band! Yesterday we took time to talk about Veterans Day. We sang God Bless America and You re a Grand Old Flag together. I sent a lyric sheet home with each student. The sheet includes You- Tube links to kid sung versions of these songs. Your PCA Chapel Choir (all K-5 students) will be singing these songs next Friday 11/10 morning, at our Veterans Day Celebration! John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one s life for one s friends.

Sonshine Preschool Note ~ Miss Elisha October 30 - November 3, 2017 Theme: Autumn Fun with Scarecrows & Squirrels Bible topic: Families & Isaac Bible verse: Psalm 105:42: God remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. Letter: Ii Color: Blue Number: 9 Nine Shape: Square Kindergarten Tidbits ABC Bag/Snack Wed: Marshall (Bday Star Student) Fri: Mimi Mon, Nov. 6 - Odett Thanks to everyone who drove to Boggio s Pumpkin patch. It was lots of fun. The children loved it but were tired out. We have read books about pumpkins and did a welcome work paper on the life cycle of a pumpkin. I enjoyed our conferences so I could show and tell you how awesome your children are doing. We will start gathering donations for the two Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. We will fill a boy and girl box as a class. Please look into doing a box at home too. All donations need to fit inside the shoebox. Suggestions of donations include; toothbrush, toothpaste, wash rag, soap, Kleenex, pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, small notebooks, stickers, eraser, coloring books, a few small toys (girl or boy), hair accessories for girls and etc. Please bring in your donations before November 12th. This week we will be busy in Phonics as we add the letter K, k and V, v will be taught with the sounds, signs, blends and name of the letters. We will add the C, c blends with the K, k blends. The rule : K goes with i and e; c goes with the other three, a, o, and u will be introduced. Consistent review of all letters, names and sounds is important to keep us ready to read. The double consonant rule will be reviewed and practiced. If a word ends in c and k or a double consonant, you say the sound just once. In Handwriting we will practice J, j and complete a written evaluation. V, v and K, k formation will be introduced and practiced. We will write blends and words using these letters along with other consonants and vowels. Then we will begin reading a sentence and learn there are two important rules to know about sentences. A sentence always begins with a capital letter and usually ends with a period. We will practice the skill of tying our shoes which I am sure will be on going. The students will be drawing shapes on our writing papers and they will classify objects into categories and find the object that does not belong. We will look at what being thoughtful means and act out situations where we can be thoughtful. In Numbers the class will count to 59 and the 20 family will be reviewed. We will practice writing the number 9. Time to the hour will be shown as we move the hands on our clocks. The students will be introduced to 12 o clock and 12:00 written out. Our song poem O clock may help us remember time to the hour. The 30 family will be introduced. Keep working our the teen numbers at home. Samuel is grown in our Bible Time and he anoints two Kings. One King (David) loves and serves God but the other King (Saul) chooses to disobey. Obedience begins with the right choices. God sees right into our hearts and wants us to choose to obey Him. We will learn two new songs Love the Lord your God and Little is Much Our memory verse is If you love me, you will keep my commands. John 14:15

1st grade ~ Mrs. Wilson This week we will learn about Gideon. Our memory verse is The Lord is mt light and salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is my stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 We had a wonderful field trip to Boggio s with the Kindergarten Class last Thursday! A big thank you to all the parents that came along! We are still counting money in math (dimes, nickels and pennies) and reviewing counting by twos. We will introduce the 8 addition fact families this week. Please turn in your child s Book-It Reading Calendar no later than Wednesday, November 1st. Please remember to sign and return report cards to school. Thank you! Our class will fill two shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, one for a boy and one for a girl. Students can bring in items for the shoeboxes anytime! Thank you! 2nd grade ~ Mrs. Bickett 3rd grade ~ Mrs. Cleary In Bible class this week we are learning about Ruth and how she was loyal to her mother-in-law. Our verse is Ruth 1:16b, Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. We will recite this verse on Friday. Spelling test 9 will also be on Friday. We are continuing to work on our personal narratives and our unit on verbs in English class. In history we are learning about native Americans. In math class this week we will add three digit numbers, count quarters and combine them with other coins. We will continue to work on our math facts. We will be working on filling a shoebox for both a boy and a girl for Operation Christmas Child. We will need toothbrushes, washcloths, small toys, and school supplies for our boxes. Please do not send any candy or toothpaste this year, as they no longer allow it in the boxes because of shipping rules. Items will need to be here by Friday, November 10 th. Two notes are being sent home today. One about the 2 Christmas shoeboxes that the children are packing for Operation Christmas Child. The other is about plans for a field trip to Starved Rock State Park. We would like to plan for in two weeks Tuesday, November 4th. We hope the decent weather continues as we would like to hike to the top of Starved Rock and maybe one canyon! We will visit the center there and hopefully stop by the IL Waterway Center. This weeks lessons: Spelling - List 10 Test tomorrow Math - Division and times tables Science - Comprehensive test on Weds. chapters 4-6. We will move on. Chapter 1 on the Human Body in conjunction with starting our Health curriculum. History - Chapter on Pocahontas Health - We will begin our Health books! Bible - The Beatitudes - Jesus is our Rock!

4th grade ~ Mrs. Odell 5th grade ~ Mr. Clausen Our Scripture focus this week and for the month is I Thess. 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God s will for you in Christ Jesus. We are also memorizing Phil.2:5-11. Thank you for donating towards the caps and mittens and the shoe boxes. What a joy!! We are continuing our giving focus toward our community this week. We will be collecting money to buy gloves, mittens, and hats for needy children in our area. I am praying that the children will give from their excess or their own efforts rather than ask you for money. One suggested way is to give up a soda or candy bar and receive the money for the mitten can instead. We are learning about birds in science. We are also finishing our verb chapter in English. Math is keeping us busy dividing and learning about factoring which leads into fractions. Again, please practice facts at home. We will be testing on spelling list 10 Wednesday and then we will begin list 11. Have a wonderful week! Several 5th grade students have complained of not having pencils or loose leaf notebook paper. As we use these supplies regularly in class, please check with your student to be sure they are properly equipped. History test is on Friday. Missionary project is due in a couple of weeks. Please continue working on your Nation Notebook. If you are doing 2 pages a week, you now have more than 20 pages done! 6th grade Science ~ Mr. Cornman 6th grade: Strange Sea Specimens: sea anemone, coral polyp, jellyfish, Portuguese Man of War 7th grade: Health: outward appearance, good grooming habits, maintaining the face, pimples, dental care 8th grade: Erosion: by groundwater, caverns, stalagmite, sinkhole, karsts Mrs. Cook s Jr. High News: History: Students should be finished with the research phase and ready to begin building their Ancient (Architect) projects.
