2 All Souls Catholic Church 2 M aking Dis ciples Greetings Brothers and Sisters. Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself to you this past weekend. Having been assigned 20 years ago as your parochial vicar here at All Souls Church, coming back is like "coming home to a place you never actually left." Delighted and grateful for Bishop Noonan and the Personnel Board s decision to be assigned here again is beyond my expectations. Your hospitality is remarkably motivating. I can never thank Fr. Gilbert Medina and Staff for a well-deserved smooth transition. He has left me with an able personnel sufficient to help me carry and fulfill the mission of the church in this historic and growing city of Sanford. I am very excited and happy to be here. As I mention last weekend at all Masses, the mission of All Souls Church remains to be, a community centered in Christ, committed to celebrate, nourished through the Sacraments and Teachings of the Church through Prayer, Education, and service to God and community. The Sa cr a me nts The Sacrament of Reconciliation: Confessions are heard each week on Saturday at the Church (SR #46) from 3:45pm to 4:45pm Learn more about this beautiful sacrament by visiting our website: The Sacrament of Baptism: Call the parish office to learn the necessary requirements and make an appointment with Father Kenneth Metz to have your child baptized. Ask us about the requirements for Godparents. The Sacrament of Marriage: Getting married? Congratulations! The process of being married in the Catholic Church could take between 6 months to a year to complete. Please contact Ann Cammarata at the parish office as soon as possible after your engagement if you would like to be married at All Souls Catholic Church. Anointing of the Sick: Please call the parish office. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. Did you know that the Sacrament may be repeated if the person becomes sick again? A person should be anointed before surgery when a dangerous illness is the reason for the intervention. Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick and Homebound: If you are unable to attend Mass, please call the parish office so we may assist you in having a visit from one of our ministers or one of our priests. Mrs. Barbara Schirard has been appointed Principal of All Souls Catholic School by Mr. Henry Fortier, Superintendent of Schools, with the blessings of Bishop John Noonan. Mrs. Schirard was a parent volunteer in 2002 when the opportunity to teach Pre-K 4 at All Souls Catholic School became available. She joined the All Souls teaching community and soon realized she had found her calling. There is no greater joy than seeing a child experience growth in academics and our faith; becoming young men and women who give back to their communities and share the Good News. To be involved in any aspect of Catholic Schools is truly a privilege, she said. During her years spent at All Souls, she was appointed Interim Principal, taught Pre-K, Kindergarten and middle school science and assumed many leadership roles. In 2013 she received the Distinguished Catholic School Educator Award in the Diocese of Orlando as Teacher of the Year. After leaving All Souls she went on to serve as middle school science teacher at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School, Orlando. Mrs. Schirard received her Bachelor s degree from the University of Central Florida, her Master s degree in Education from St. Leo University, and is currently continuing her Educational Leadership certification program through the University of Central Florida. Mrs. Schirard and her family have a long history with All Souls. Her husband Mike, along with all four of his siblings graduated from All Souls in the 70 s. She and her husband were married at our Historic Chapel, and both of her children Claire (class of 2006) and Maclane (class of 2010) were baptized, received first communion and were confirmed at All Souls Church; and they graduated from All Souls Catholic School.
