3 Christmas Food Bags The deacons are continuing to receive nonperishable food items for the Christmas Food Bags (19 Families). The deadline for donations is Wednesday, December 17th. Perishable items are provided though the monetary donations you give. This ministry is supported by the congregation to provide a Christmas meal for families in need in our area. We would like to have a pound cake for each family. If you can donate a pound cake, please contact the church office. The assembly and delivery of bags will be on Friday, December 19th. Christmas Card Project We have made it easy to send your cards to members and shut-ins here at CFBC. Just get a bag, put your name (no address needed) on the front, fill out your Christmas cards, place the persons name on the envelope, place them in your bag, and drop them off at the church. We have placed two boxes out for your cards. One is in the foyer outside King Memorial and the other is in the educational foyer. All cards must be in by Sunday, th. The youth will separate cards, place cards to you in your bag and you will be able to pick up your cards in King Memorial on Sunday, st Contribution Envelopes The 2015 offering envelopes will be available for pick-up in King Memorial on Sunday, st. These envelopes are to be used beginning on Sunday, January 4, Please do not use these envelopes for offerings in JANUARY NEWSLETTER Please have all information for the January newsletter in by Wednesday, December 17 th. Information is being collected early due to the office only being open 2 ½ days the week of Christmas. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Poinsettias In Honor & Memory of Loved Ones If you would like to place a poinsettia in the Sanctuary this Christmas season in honor or memory of a loved one please fill out the slip provided below and place it in the offering plate. Your information for the Christmas bulletin and your poinsettia will need to be in by Wednesday, December 17 th. Remember to place your name on your poinsettia. For those who can we ask that the poinsettias stay in place for the Candlelight Service on the 24 th. They can be removed after the service on the 24 th or they can be picked up on Monday, December 29 th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 4 Community Groups Community Groups are small communities of six to ten people meeting in homes around Clifton Forge during the week. The primary goals for these Community Groups are to help each of us live Christcentered, gospel driven lives by studying God s word together in an open and welcoming environment, creating community at CFBC through fellowship in an intimate setting, encouraging each other by becoming a part of each other s lives, and opening our doors to evangelize the lost. To begin this ministry there will be three Community Groups that will meet at the houses of three different leaders: Nathan and Ashley Smith, Richard and Tondalaya VanLear, and Dream Tyree and Gina Dobbs. There is no age differential place on the groups. You are encouraged to attend whichever Community Group fits best with your schedule. Throughout December there will be three sign-up sheets on the back table with the date and time so that you can easily be a part of this wonderful ministry as we grow closer together as a faith family. New Year s Eve LockIn What better way for the youth of CFBC to break in 2015 than at church? From 8:00 PM on December 31 st to 8:00 AM on January 1 st we will be having a Youth LockIn with tons of games, activities, food, celebration, and the sharing of God s great news! All youth ages 6 th -12 th are invited on the one stipulation that they come to a Wednesday Night Youth Group beforehand. This will be, without a doubt, a fun filled time for all who participate. Speaking of participating, Ashley and Nathan are asking for helpers to chaperone. With the first LockIn we had 32 youth and we had a few helpers throughout the night (thank you Kascsak s and Kelsey) which helped the night run smoothly. For the second LockIn there were 26 youth with only Ashley and Nathan chaperoning which, though it was a good night, made things difficult. If you can, please help Ashley and Nathan by chaperoning the New Year s Eve LockIn so that it will be the best experience possible for both the adults and for the youth. A Candlelight Service will be held on December 24, 2014 at. The service will include music, scripture, and the observance of the Lord s Supper. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend an inspirational service during this greatest season of the year. MOVIE NIGHT TONIGHT! Is there anything better during the Advent season than throwing a cozy blanket around yourself with a nice steaming cup of joe or hot coco, which gives feeling back to the tips of your fingers, and watching a movie that warms your heart with the joy and celebration of Jesus being born in a manger. Tonight you get the chance to experience that wonderful feeling with your brothers and sisters in Christ as we watch The Nativity Story. Make sure you find your way to King Memorial by! Being a Church Member There is a small book of only 79 pages written by Thom S Rainer that speaks to what it means to be a church member. The title of the book is I Am A Church Member. I want every single member of CFBC to go through this book in either a Sunday School Class or in a small group setting. It is important that we all go through the book in a group so there is discussion and learning. It is not in my nature to demand anything from anyone. We are all individuals and have minds of our own. But for the future of CFBC I believe it is imperative that we all get on the same page on what it means to be a church member. So I am strongly urging everyone to say yes when you are asked to come to a small group or Sunday School class to study this book. This is a broad general statement, but I do not believe there is a reason why anyone would not be able to go through this book in either Sunday School or a small group setting. You may have been a church member all your life or you may have only recently become a church member, either way I am asking all of us to go through this book together. I firmly believe that through this we will become a stronger, more mature church family than ever before.

Each month we will have a video series to focus on and with December being the month of Jesus birth giving hope; this month s video series has the same focus on hope. I want to encourage you to watch a six-session video series that speaks to the hope we have in Jesus our Lord and Savior from the perspective of the cross and beyond. This series does speak to the hope we have for our future with God in heaven, but mainly focuses on the hope we can have every day of our lives while walking on this earth. Wednesday Youth Meals Thank you to everyone who has helped with the Wednesday night meals for the youth. The youth and their leaders really appreciate it! A sign-up sheet can be found on the back table in the sanctuary for those who would like to sign up to fix a meal or donate the items for a meal. Also, thank you to those who have given monetarily to provide for a meal. Thank you for supporting the youth here at CFBC. Marion Fields Circle The Marion Fields Circle will be meeting in the home of Linda Rice (720 Commercial Ave) at 6:30 PM on Monday, December 22nd. Women interested in missions are welcome to come join us for the meeting. LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS At this time every year, we remember the Lottie Moon International Christmas Offering. The theme this year is ONE SACRED EFFORT; FINDING YOUR PLACE IN GOD S STORY. The focus scripture is Matthew 28:19-20, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. In today s bulletin you will find an offering envelope. Our church goal is $1,000 and will extend from now until the end of January. The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering remains the lifeline for missions overseas. As always, 100 percent of the offering is used exclusively for missionaries and their ministries. You may be asking, Who is Lottie Moon? Miss Lottie was born in Albemarle County, Virginia. After she professed her faith in Christ, she had a burning desire (a call from God) to minister to the people in China. The Chinese people did not trust her, but a door was opened when she began making cookies for them. She is referred as the cookie lady. Due to floods, famine and a war on the Chinese, Lottie became ill and on Dec. 24, 1912 she met her Savior. As you prepare for the celebration of our Lord s birth, please remember the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. When you pray and give, you support those who extend your outreach from your church to those without Christ. You become part of God s story around the world!
