I m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger. (Luke : 10-1 The Message: The Bible in Contemporary Language) Talk about an understatement! A great and joyful event hardly does justice to the God of the universe, the Only True God coming to be in our midst, to live among us. But this time of year, words often seem inadequate to fully express all that we experience and share together. Yet, even though they are often inadequate, we still want to express the wonder and the awe and so we use words to do that. During Advent, the season of watching and waiting, we will focus our attention on small words. Words that are on the Christmas list of every person in the world in one way or another hope, peace, joy and love. The world as a whole and us as individuals who make up our world long for the hope, the peace, the joy and the love that was wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger. So this Advent, we watch and wait together to receive every one of our wishes as we unwrap the One who came, lived among us and offered us Himself. Words are inadequate but we use them anyhow to say, Thanks be to God for His Gift, precious beyond telling His indescribable, inexpressible, free Gift! NEEDS FOR DECEMBER As you know, we support the WHEAT (Western Hanover Emergency Action Team) food pantry specifically with canned fruit at BUMC and with pasta and pasta sauce at Rouzie's Chapel. During November WHEAT served 90 families which is higher than their usual monthly client participation. Therefore WHEAT is asking for some particular items for their giveaways on December th and 19th. Those items are listed below. If you are able to buy a few of these items and bring them to church for WHEAT, please do so. canned tuna canned chicken cereal green vegetables soup one-dish meals pasta and rice side dishes Hamburger Helper type items

What does Christmas mean to me? It means that God so loved me That He sent His only Son So that I could be set free.

It means joy and peace To all who follow after Him, And shun worldly pleasures That would lead one into sin.

Me: My car took forever to start. God: Okay. Me: At lunch, they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait. God: Hummmm. Me: On the way home, my phone DIED, just as I picked up a call. God: All right.

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning and I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that. Me (humble): Oh!

5 What does Christmas mean to me? It means that God so loved me That He sent His only Son So that I could be set free. To be set free From the sins of the world, And walk in His pathway Gladly, His banner to unfurl. It means joy and peace To all who follow after Him, And shun worldly pleasures That would lead one into sin. The world knows Him as Jesus; He is the bright and morning Star, Who brings sunlight into darkness, Leading wise men from afar. What does Christmas mean to me? Me: And to top it all off, when I got home --I just wanted to soak my feet in my new foot massager and relax. But, it wouldn t work!! Nothing went right today! Why did You do that? God: I didn t let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road. Me (ashamed): Okay. God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling you was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn t even let you talk to them, so you could be covered. Me (softly): I see God. God: Oh and that foot massager. It had a shortage that was going to knock out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn t think that you wanted to be in the dark. Me: I m sorry, God. God: Don t be sorry, just learn to Trust Me in All things, the Good and the bad. Me: I will trust You. God: And don t doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan. Me: I won t God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today. God: You re welcome my child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children...
