9 Building Community... Through Prayer They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2: 42 This week s prayer focus: March 25, 2018 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. ~ Philippians 4:5 Why does God want those He is working with to be concerned with how gently they think, act or talk? God is overwhelmingly gentle with us when we sin and need correction, and He expects us to be the same way with others. Gentleness shows the world that the way of violent encounters and situations ruled by emotion is not the better way. And God wants us to demonstrate gentleness because human beings require a gentle touch in order to truly change their lives and come to Him. ~ Eddie Foster Ask God to cultivate a spirit of gentleness in you and to make that gentleness evident to everyone you meet. Prayer needs in our church community: This Friday is the last day of our annual Homeless Program. Thank God for another successful year. Ask Him to protect the men who came to Cedar Hill throughout the winter, and to continue to work in their hearts and lives. Prayer needs in our local community: Friendship Ministries is an organization which seeks to support faith formation and congregational inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Since the early 1980 s, this program s vision has been to help these individuals to grow deeper in their relationship with God and each other. Since its inception, Friendship Ministries has grown into a ministry that works with more than sixty denominations all over the world. Pray for this ministry and ask that God will use it to show His children that they are all created in His image and have a role to play in His plan. Prayer needs in our national community: Being responsible for the education of young people is a sacred trust. Pray that God would raise up godly educators throughout our nation who are dedicated to their work and who can capture the hearts and minds of our nation s youth. Pray that they would look to God for guidance and wisdom and would be examples to their students.

10 Prayer needs in our world community: Pray for Lee and Emma DeHoog. They have been serving with Mission to the World since 1983 in France and North Africa. Pray for safety for them as they serve in a dangerous area of the world. Ask God to bless their ministry and to use it to further His kingdom. Prayer of Healing: Always keep on praying for all the Lord s people Ephesians 6: 18 Greta Botbyl had successful surgery on Thursday to repair her torn ACL. Continue to pray for patience and pain management through the recovery and rehabilitation process. Pray also for her parents and sister as they care for her. The Botbyl s thank everyone for their prayers before surgery as well. Congratulations: One of the most precious promises we receive from our heavenly Father is that He will be a God to us, our children, and our children s children. We rejoice in the birth of baby girl Kinsley Ellen Klingler on March 4, to Brittany (Faber) and Jordan Klingler; Grandfather Craig Faber, Aunt Victoria and Uncle Joe Macaluso, Aunt Ella Faber; Great-grandparents Beatrice and Pete Spalt and Jim Faber; Great Aunt Jo-Ann and Uncle Dave, Gabriella and Gianna Angelucci. Congratulations and best wishes to the entire family! Thank You: The Den Hollander Family would like to thank you all for your concern, prayers, and cards offered as their mom, Cornelia Hagedorn s, condition declined and when she passed into Glory. They have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love shown. May God continue to bless you as you have blessed them. Prayer of Sympathy: We extend our sincere Christian sympathy to Bill, Marilyn, and all the Bushman families on the passing of their brother-in-law Ben Essenburg, who was called home on Tuesday, March 6. We pray that God will comfort and sustain this family--jill, Benji, Jen, Julie, John, and the Essenburgs as they mourn the loss of Ben. Pray for those with ongoing concerns and those who are homebound: Bob & Gert Troast Jean Stonehouse Ruth De Vries Betty Szypiotko Bea Bushoven Edna Smith Hen & Dot Hagedorn Min De Witte Don t forget, you can call our prayer line at , ext. 2. The prayer line is updated as needed on Friday afternoons. You can also check our denominational prayer requests at 888-CRC- PRAY or
