2 RUNNING FOR STATE OFFICE Have you considered running for a State office? WE hope you consider this life changing experience. Candidates For State Office A. A member who intends to run for the office shall submit a a statement of qualifications, a current photograph, a statement of endorsement by the Local Court of the candidate which must be woted on at a local court meeting and signed by a majority of the Local Court Officers and a consent to serve signed by the candidate. Five (5) copies of each shall be received by the Nominating Committee Chairman no later than February 1, of the convention year. B. Candidates may make known their intentions to run for office to their Local Court. C. Candidates may respond honestly when asked if they intend to run for office. QUEEN OF PEACE 2359 Shown is Marta Vielma, Regent Bette Acitteli, Bernie Rosenthal, Carol Scalise and Natalie Bialkowski Court Queen of Peace held CORPORATE COMMUNION on Sunday, Dec. 7 th at the 9 AM Mass. (See Photo ) Being Advent Season it is a good time to pray together and look forward to the Birth of Christ. It is also a good time to show the unity of our Catholic Daughter groups but show the strength that we have in our Courts. Court 2359 will have a Christmas Luncheon which will be held after our regular meeting on Thursday, December 18 th, in Room 213. Once again this year we will have our Auction to raise additional monies for the Court. This has always been fun in the past and many of us look forward to it! We may do a silent auction this year but you will have to come and see!! Please bring an item that we can auction in the past, we have had beautiful Christmas decorations, Southwestern items, cookie trays, jewelry, linens. Also mark your calendars for our FASHION SHOW March 17, Joyce Purdue and Pat Kubat are co-chairing and Joyce is already lining up her Committee everyone is invited to attend. 2

Father Romy personally welcomed us at our first official meeting there in October. We spent CDA Day on October 19 at the Knights of Columbus breakfast in Pope John Paul Hall at our new parish home. Thanks to research done by the History Committee for our 50th Anniversary coming up in February, 2015, we opened our event with "The Opening Ode" sung to the tune of O Christmas Tree and closed the event with "The Closing Ode" sung to the tune of America or My Country "Tis of Thee. Any of you remember those songs? As always, October is beyond busy also with Rosary Sunday and the W-R-A-P campaign. It is good that is finished for another year. All we need to worry about now is the busyness of the holidays and our 50th anniversary in February! This story can fit words. The subject matter that appears in newsletters is virtually endless. You can include stories that focus on current technologies or innovations in your field. You may also want to note business or economic trends, or make predictions for your customers or clients. If the newsletter is distributed internally, you might comment upon new procedures or improvements to the business. I hope you are all enjoying your time furthering the efforts of the Catholic Daughters In Unity and Charity, or as our new Court Regent in Court St. John Paul II says in In Unity and Charity and Fun. Yes Ladies it also had to be fun. The only way we can attract and KEEP new members is by showing our Unity and Charity towards each other, the Community and Parish. In doing so we have to show the Joy we have in doing our work and the Fun we have with each other. ALLWE DO MUST BE FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER. I have been privileged to attend many of your functions since September. I thank you for the invitations and the warm welcomes I have received. Casa Grande Court Daughters of St. Anthony held a Corporate Communion, beginning with the Rosary before mass and a luncheon afterwards at the Golden Coral. Court Queen of Peace had their Corpate Communion in Green Valley followed by lunch with the Knights of Columbus. Court St. Rose of Lima in Safford hosted a Mass for the parishioners who were 80 years or older and then held a reception for them in the Church Hall afterwards. This Court will be hosting their Christmas Tree exhibit for the Town of Safford and Thatcher beginning Dec 6th through Dec 12th. This is a big event. I plan on being there on one of those days. If you feel like a drive to Safford it will be worth your effort. Court St. Clare of Assisi has a fund raiser with a Concert by the Spanish Flamenco guitarist Esteban on Friday Dec 5th in Surprise and I am really looking forward to attending that event. On the first day of Advent November 30 Court The Daughters of St. Anthony hosted there second Advent by Candle Light A beautiful setting, with readings, singing and hospitality by the Daughters. I was also privileged to attend the Financial review for Ajo and Douglas along with District Deputy / Former State Regent Delma Araiza. I hope to visit other Courts not mentioned here in the future. We have had two workshops so far this year and another is planned for December13th. Fifty or so Officers and members attended the Retreat conducted by our State Chaplain Father Abran Tadeo followed by the workshop in October. It was hosted by Court Madonna in Sun City West a special thanks for those who drove from Lake Havasu to attend. Douglas Court St. Michael the Archangel hosted the Retreat and Workshop for the sixteen Officers and Court members in November. A special thank you to the Miami Court for attending, that was a long drive. We certainly appreciate the time and preparation it took for Father Abran too be with is for the Retreats. Also for the time and effort the host Courts put in to making them successful. On December 13th Court St. John Paul II in Tucson will host the last of the Retreat and Workshops for this year. We are expecting between 40 to 50 attendees. This year we have instituted three new courts. I was privileged to attend their Installation Ceremonies along with our State Officers and State Director Susan Mone. St. Michael the Archangel in Douglas, St. Clare of Assisi in Surprise, and St. John Paul II in Tucson Now we have them we need to support them in every way possible. The hard part now begins. The ladies first have to know each other and then develop a respect for those that have agreed to be the Officers in their Courts. We would ask that you keep them constantly in your prayers. 5 Coming Soon, Pro Life Billboard The Daughters of Anthony #2651 in Casa Grande have had an extremely busy, but spiritually and financially profitable past few months. In early October the group collected huge amounts of diapers and child clothing for the Casa Grande New Life Pregnancy Center. In connection with that, the Daughters held a Bake Sale and Pie Sale (over 200 were baked and sold) for the Respect Life billboard project. This is being done with the help of the local Knights of Columbus and will we displayed on Interstate 10 between Phoenix and Casa Grande. Advent by Candlelight was held the first Sunday of Advent in our Community Center. Around 160 ladies attended an evening of meditation, song and friendship in preparation for the holy season. Lastly, as was done last Christmas, the Daughters have purchased 500 copies of Did Adam and Eve Have Belly Buttons? by Matthew J. Pinto to be distributed to parishioners after the Christmas Masses. Last year, the group distributed Matthey Kelley s book, Rediscover Catholicism. ROSE OF LIMA COURT 2398 Safford had a busy fall season. Past President Deborah Gibbs installed new officers: Regent Kitty Avalos, Vice Regent Helen Romero, Treasurer Ida Sainz, Recording Secretary Carolyn Vessels, Financial Secretary Rosa Montoya and Chaplain Deacon Carl Vessels. Also, the Court honored senior citizens age 80 and above at a special Mass on Nov. 23, where Fr. Robert Rodriguez gave each a blessing; and all were treated to refreshments afterwards in the hall. State Regent Maureen O Reilly O Shea and Past State Regent Delma Araiza were in attendance. The Court is still reeling from the deaths of three of its members in one week s time and has been readying for the annual Festival of Trees, where they will be selling burritos, baked goods, boutique items and stuffed animals as they greet the community who stream in to the hall to admire the beautifully decorated trees. 5
