This event was will attended and several mothers also expressed interest in joining the Adult Court. Irene Gamza and Lorie Holland, members of the State Court also attended the afternoon tea. The work began on making sashes for the girls by our own Mary Peoples who was willing to under take this task. After the tea, word was out about this new court and the number grew to 34 young ladies who wanted to join JCDA. Mary Peoples quickly returned to the sewing machine to make more sashes. 3 Court Queen of Peace #2359 Court 2634 St. Gianna Beretta Molla recently was granted space on the new K of C Sign in front of the Knights of Columbus Hall in Miami. National News Thank you all for all you do in your states. We would like you to add some information from the National Office to your communications with your Courts. Thank them for sending in their National Dues payments in a timely manner. We do ask that in the memo line on the check they put the invoice number they are paying. They do not need to write National Dues or to give us the breakdown of 25 members x $7.50! Some Courts - as you may know in your state - do not have any indication on their checks as to the their Court Number or State. Our files are processed as NY We have to try and read signatures to find the correct court. Thank you Rosters - Can you pass on information since we have had many surprising statements concerning them. Continued on the page 7 We are just beginning to catch fire as our winter members return to us. This year we have added a new charity to our giving. In keeping with the new Family Circle, the Court has voted to adopt Sr. Jose s Homeless Shelter for Women in Tucson. Money that we raise at our annual Court Christmas Auction will be given to the shelter as well as individual members giving gifts. Jenise Silva has volunteered to chair the Family and has asked members to bring nonperishable food items to the meetings. These will be added to the food items the Knights of Columbus collect. We also marked the passing of our sister, Josephine Vivaldi, a newer member of our Court but hard working. Three members and Officers attended a well presented Fall Retreat and Workshop in Casa Grande. Much information was gathered. 3
4 Court Madonna 2067 Court Madonna 2067 had a fun "getting to know you" after the October meeting which was followed by an ice cream social. Members brought all types of toppings for our ice cream sundaes. This month we are having a Advent Retreat which will be facilitated by Father Frank Bartle on Friday, November 13th, from 9AM to 2 PM. We are expecting over 100 women to attend. Then on November 23rd, we will have a mass in St. Clement of Rome Church, for the deceased members of our Court, and all deceased CDA members. December a Baby Shower is being planned with all gifts given to a home for unwed mothers. This gets our Court on a good start toward the coming year. Court 2359 in Green Valley During the November meeting of Court 2359 in Green Valley 3 new members were received into our organization. They are also looking forward to receiving two more at their December meeting. Congratulations to the Court and their Officers They are fast approaching the goal set by Regent Bette Acitteli to have 50 court members by the end of her term as Regent in May St. Rose of Lima Court #2398 St. Rose of Lima Court #2398 of Safford sponsored an event to celebrate the senior parishioners (over 80 years of age) on Catholic Daughters Day, Oct. 18. A Mass was held at 11:30 a.m., and all participants received a pin. Following the Mass, light refreshments, punch and water were served in the Volunteer 4
5 Court 2651 Daughters of St. Anthony The Daughters purchased six candlesticks for the main altar in church to match the ones that stand on either side of the altar. Father Ariel is shown blessing them on November 8th at the 10 AM Mass Left to Right Mary Peoples Court Vice Regent June Nunnink Court Treasurer And Lynn Wilson Past court Secretary. CELEBRATION IN WINSLOW On October 20, 1935 as the country was recovering from the depression, 38 women in Winslow, became charter members of Court St Mark #312 They were the roots that set the goals for the court that has weathered the growth over the years. On October 24, 2015, I had the honor along with State Regent, Maureen O Reilly/O Shea, 1st Vice State Regent, Irene Gramza, 2nd Vice State Regent, Marilyn Witte and State Treasurer, Carolyn Larson to join the 44 members of the court to celebrate 80 years of service in their parish and community. The celebration began with a very meaningful mass of Thanksgiving to the Lord for all the members past and present. At the end of the mass I read the original charter of the court signed by National Regent Mary Murphy. After mass was a wonderful, fun reception. Every member was presented with a Certificate of Recognition for their service in the court from a few months to 64 years. These ladies have continued to grow in spirituality and service which began so many years ago and their dedication as Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The court also hosts a very active JCDA Ct St Maria Goretti #312 instituted 3 years ago. Great job ladies. May Our Blessed Mother continue to guide you as your court serves her son in all you do. Be very proud of your court. God bless, Susan Mone, National Director 5
6 Junior Catholic Daughters New JCDA Court St. Rita of Casa Casa Grande Following the Corporate Communion Sunday mass at St. Anthony future JCDA members joined the CDA court Daughter of St. Anthony for breakfast in the Community Center Hosted by the Knights of Columbus. The court along with family enjoyed good food and fellowship. JCDA COURT SANTA CHIARA #2677 The girls of this court along with Court St. Clare of Assisi held their 2 nd annual Youth Food Drive to benefit the local conference of Saint Vincent DePaul. This was a 3 weekend event, with mass announcements, then passing out the grocery sacks with a list of needed items and finally the drive which resulted in the collection of 507 bags of groceries and $1, in cash donations. The girls are getting ready to visit a 15 year old girl with lethal stomach cancer. They will go to pray with her, take her a sashe and pin and make her an honorary member of the court. In the works, is a foundation the girls hope to start in memory of Damien Seran whose sister Isabella and mom, Delia are members. Damien 16 years old drowned at Lake Pleasant this past July 4 th weekend. Damien loved animals, therefore; the foundations purpose and goal will be helping HALO Animal Shelter, with dog accessories, dog food and cash donations. The girls hope to conduct an annual fundraiser. 6
7 Court Padre Kino New State Chaplin Fr. Ariel Lustan Fr. Ariel Lustan has accepted the request to be our State Chaplin. He will fill this position till Fr. Ariel is the pastor of St. Anthony of Padua, Casa Grande. We welcome you to the CDA. Court Padre Kino is ready to launch into the holiday season with our annual December potluck holiday meeting on December 2, 2015 with warm winter clothing gifts for the patients at Desert Vista Behavioral Center. In January we have Mary Ann Reuter from Resurrection coming to talk to us about "Right to Life" and February, being our 51st anniversary, we will celebrate with an exerpt from our history written and presented by Melanie Collinsworth. As a court, we are ready for the holidays to begin by remembering to "Keep Christ in Christmas" and practicing that the other 364 days of the year also. From Page 3 National News #1 - we do not charge for rosters #2 -Courts can request a roster at any time. They should especially request them before they have their bi-annual Financial Reviews. They should not request one every time they send in an address correction. #3 - they should have an updated roster at the time of their court elections. Some officer lists are sent in and some officers have never had their membership application sent in to Headquarters. #4 - Membership dates are based on the date of the Pledge being taken. In the past, the billing database would put 10/1 or 4/1 used for billing purposes but not the actual date. We now put the actual date after all National Bills are processed. Some dates show 2/1/1984 which was a default date used when they changed over computer systems in We would appreciate the update #5 - they can send s with updates and corrections at any time. They must give us the State, Court number and complete name of the member. "Please change the address from 25 Lexington Ave to 31 Triangle Place" does not help!! #6 - they should not update the PDF or Excel version and send it back. We would not be able to look through to find the updates unless they are marked as such. Our printers in the office are black and white. #7 - Membership, Transfers, and Renewals can be scanned and ed. They should not scan an application then send the original in the mail. This will cause a duplication which our system does not alert us to. Jesus disciples are called to this, even today, especially today: to bring people into contact with the compassionate Mercy that saves, Pope Francis 10/25/2015 Mary Impellizeri Executive Director 7

God Bless, Carolyn Larson, From Our State Regent It hardly seems possible but here we are at Thanksgiving. I hope you all enjoyed a restful summer. I know have been busy since then. Here are some of the things I thought you might enjoy reading about that I have totally enjoyed with some of the Courts over the past two months. On October. 11th I joined members of Court St John Paul ll for their Baby Shower weekend. They collected gifts donated by the Parish to benefit new mothers. after each Mass refreshments were served and games were played. The JCDA from Marana donated beautiful blankets to them. See picture. The weekend of Oct. 17th and 18th was a busy one in Casa Grande The Daughters of St Anthony hosted our Retreat and Father Ariel Lustan was the Retreat Master ( The high light of the day) The Board attempted something new for our program. A Computer, Face Book and Web Page class. Madeline Marcoux, Sarah De La Cruz and Carolyn Larson did a wonderful job, the only criticism was that it needed to be longer. We hear you ladies and will do just that. The ladies of Casa Grande provided a wonderful lunch. The other morning class and the afternoon was spent updating everyone on the new information from National. Our next Retreat and workshop will follow the same format it will be on January 16th in Phoenix. The following day Oct. 18th was Casa Grande Corporate Communion. 1st. state Vice Regent Irene Gramza and I attended. Father Ariel blessed all of the Catholic Daughters and the future JCDA members during the Mass, afterwards we attended a breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus. It was during this time I asked Father Ariel if he would consider being our State Chaplain and he did not hesitate to say yes. As you are all aware we did get the Bishops approval and sometime in the near future we will install Father Ariel. On October 22nd Court St John Paul ll Court celebrated their first year as a Court. Irene and I attended the Mass. The Celebrant was Abran Tadeo their Chaplain. a delicious reception followed. October 24th was a big celebration in Winslow. Their 80th year. The oldest Court in the State of Arizona. National Director Susan Mone, her husband Doug and granddaughter Cheyenne were in attendance along with most of the State Board and my husband Bill OShea. After a wonderful Mass and lots of pictures we enjoyed a wonderful meal, with fun and laughter and lots of prizes. The next day we were able to have breakfast at the La Posada Hotel with time to chat before we drove home. I have been Privileged to visit a few Courts this month. Court Immaculate Conception Ajo for their financial review and of course a delicious lunch, Court St Augustine and Court Queen of Peace for their monthly meeting and I plan on being at St. Francis of Assisi later this month. All Courts are busy getting ready for their fund raisers. It is still my pleasure to work with your State Board. We look forward to seeing many of you at the next Workshop and of course in Pittsburg for the National Convention in July 2016 I would like to thank all of the District Deputies who work so hard on behalf of us all. There attendance at your financial reviews and the reports that they send to me are so appreciated. I sincerely wish you all a very blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
