We are committed to responding to each other through communities and ministries of faith and love, addressing our spiritual, social and educational needs.. We believe that each of us is called to be a supportive, compassionate, and caring Christian witness in Mission Viejo, the Diocese of Orange and in the world. 2 Page 2 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time g{tç~ çéâ YÜA UÜâvx tçw YÜA ctâä Lord Jesus, we your people pray to You for our priests. You have given them to us for OUR needs. We pray for them in THEIR needs. We know that You have made them priests in the likeness of your own priesthood. You have consecrated them, set them aside, anointed them, filled them with the Holy Spirit, appointed them to teach, to preach, to minister, to console, to forgive, and to feed us with Your Body and Blood. Yet we know, too, that they are one with us and share our human weaknesses. We know too that they are tempted to sin and discouragement, as are we, needing to be ministered to, as do we, to be consoled and forgiven, as do we. Indeed, we thank You for choosing them from among us, so that they understand us as we understand them, suffer with us and rejoice with us, worry with us and trust with us, share our beings, our lives, our faith. We ask that You give them this day the gift You gave Your chosen ones on the way to Emmaus: Your presence in their hearts, Your holiness in their souls, Your joy in their spirits. And let them see You face to face in the breaking of the Eucharistic Bread. We pray to You, O Lord, with Mary, the mother of priests, for Your priests and for ours. Amen. A Prayer for Priests by John Cardinal O'Connor, March Celebrate PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY today by writing a note to our Parish Priests. You may place your note in the collection basket or drop it off at the Parish Center. PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY October 26, 2014 The Newly Ordained Choice of Jesus, clothed in Grace Summons his Lord in a sacred place. Lips now hallowed by miracled wine Speak with fervor of love Divine; God-favored hands still moist with oil, Pledged forever to priestly toil, Give us each day this great bequest The loving gift of His Body Blest. 12 Page 12 RESPECT LIFE MONTH Issue Domestic Violence 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time Peanut Butter and Jelly Domestic violence is a hidden scourge on our families and communities. Those who are victimized often keep it a private matter for various reasons: fear, shame, well-intended efforts to preserve the family. Aggressors, if they even recognize their problem, are not likely to have it addressed. It knows no boundaries of race, social class, ethnicity, creed or age. Statistics suggest one in four women experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Seventy five percent of Americans are reported to know a victim, though most episodes are not reported to the authorities. Domestic violence includes physical, sexual, psychological, verbal and economic abuse. For help, to answer any questions you might have, or to receive restraining order information, please call one of the following: 911 Local hotline Human Options National Domestic Violence hotline For more information, go to lifejusticepeace.org If you are interested in being trained as a parish volunteer to answer questions about Domestic Violence, please call Becky Davis at X210 The Peanut Butter and Jelly Ministry is in need of your donations of Sliced Sandwich Bread Jelly Peanut butter Please drop off your donations to the front office during business hours.
