All Souls Day, election, birthdays, Veterans Day, ID Drive, and Thanksgiving are all going to keep us busy one way or another; so I'm asking let's bring this year to a wonderful close. I cannot thank you all enough for the tremendous hard work and dedication you do to make our events successful. We have one more month and then we start taking things slow until the New Year so let's not lose our pace and continue this momentum. Thanks to Brother Mike Garcia and WDD Bill Uberti for joining me at the Holy Cross cemetery. Cleaning and paying our respects to Rev Msgr. Coughlan and 11 Augustinian Priests was very rewarding indeed. 4 Page 4 A Message from Fall Festival Chairman Jeff Dilick Brothers, The 2016 Fall Festival is in the books, and many of you deserve thanks for your support of this event. First, please allow me to single a couple of you out for your efforts above and beyond the call of duty.. 1. Of course, how can we not start this off without singling out Brother Bob Pratt for all of the time and effort he put into this event not just for the Knights, but for the Parish as well! I watched him closely during this event, because I'm always trying to figure out when he rests, and how he puts these events together. All I can say is that he is a MACHINE, and never seems to tire. Only he knows how many hours he put into this event, but I can tell you that it is likely his family has missed him for the last couple of weeks!!! The next time you see him, please shake his hand and say thanks what he's done for us 2. In addition to Brother Bobs efforts, a BIG THANKS from myself and the Council goes out to Brothers Bryan Dolejs, Tom Drzewiecki and of course John Giltner. Because I was the coordinator for the event I felt that I needed to be there as much as possible Literally every time I showed up, Brian and Tom were already there ahead of me. When I questioned them they would say "oh, I got here at 8:00 AM this morning" or "I have been supporting Bob throughout the day for the last three days"! Truly, what we were able to do at the tent was a direct result of the efforts of the "behind the scenes kitchen staff". 3. Another big thanks goes out to our "front man" Jim Fitzgerald for calling in customers from far and wide! "Get your full plate meals here, pizza, pasta, bread sticks." I also want to mention the hard working efforts of Chad Menges. Chad signed up and showed up for the last shift of the night as well as CLEANUP. His efforts at the end of the day when the work still needs to be done and no one else is around are greatly appreciated. Next, a big thanks goes out to all of you who signed up on the list and showed up. You are Paul Zadrozny, Mike Dunlap, Bill Uberti, Guy and Irene Caruso, Dan McMichael, Jeff Markin, Frank Vaplon, Mike Crean, Jack Peterson, Rick Ludwig, Sal Acampora, Bob Ippolito, Bob Ramsey, Bruce Koepke, Ron Goins and of course the WGK Phil Sibayan. For those of you who showed up early for each shift to keep things rolling, a thumbs up to you! For those of you who stayed after your shift to help out during peak times, a double thumbs up to each of you! If I have missed someone on this thank you, I'm sorry, but know that we could not have pulled this off without you as well. This was a huge event and very labor intensive, and you should all be proud of the roles you played in making this a successful event. Thank You, Brother Jeff Dilick

5 Page 5 Vocations Report by Chairman Ron Goins Brothers: Once again, we had the opportunity to present three seminarians each with a check of $500. Only one was able to be there to receive it at our Fall Festival. It was Matt Rossio, our former Youth Minister. Fr. Mel, Fr. David, and our Grand Knight joined Matt and I on stage in the Holy Family Center. We took the opportunity to inform the attendees how this money comes from their support of our fund raising events. Matt gave a brief introduction to his background, also allowing the parishioners to see that these guys are special, not just looking for a job. The remaining two checks were delivered to the seminary to be sent on to the others. Fr. Lauro was there, expressing his sincere appreciation of our efforts. 6 Page 6 Pro-Life Report by Chairman Roger Lopez Dear Pro-life friends, Thursday, October 13, was Day 16 of 40 Days for Life in front of Family Planning Associates on Miramar Road. There were many prayers from the 50+ people who came throughout the morning. About a dozen yellow-shirt "escorts" stood to the side, watching us in case some of the counselors tried to slip back into the parking lot, or perhaps they were there to protest our prayerful presence. Two undercover officers arrived, as well as two patrol cars. There were about the same number of women going into the clinic as last week. We continue to pray, and leave it in God's hands. From Page 15 of the Helpers book of prayers: "My child, if you come to serve the Lord, Prepare yourself to be tried. Set your Heart right and be firm, And do not be hasty when thing go against you; Hold fast to Him, and do not forsake Him, So that you may be honored when your life ends. Accept whatever happens to you, And be patient in humiliating misfortune. For gold is tested with fire, And men who are approved must be tested in the furnace of humiliation. Have faith in Him, and he will help you; Make your ways straight, and put your hope in Him. (Sirach 2:1-6) The Helpers prayer book is available for your use on the sidewalk Thursday and Saturday mornings during 40 Days for Life. Please continue to pray in front of this abortion center whenever you can. Report from Council 11632's Pro-Life Chairman Roger Lopez on last Thursday morning's 40 Days for Life prayer watch at the parking lot site at the Miramar Road Pyramid Shopping Center for 2nd floor Turning Point Pro-Life Pregnancy Resource Center which is located right next door to The Abortion Provider Family Planning Associates. This was followed Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM by Brother Knights Hugh Largey, Bill Uberti, and their Knights Ladies Laura Largey and Kathy Uberti, respectively. All prayed 5 Decades of the Rosary together for the babies whose lives were taken there earlier that day and holding "Knights Defend Life" signs seen by the busy traffic driving by on Miramar Road. Hugh Largey, Council Pro-Life Co-Chairman Largey.Hugh@gmail.com
