1 January 2018 Dear Friends, As we stand on the brink of a new year that promises to bring with it some change and new opportunies of ministry, I have become keenly aware that as a church family we need to enter this year on our knees. Much that lies before us will require help and strength which only the Lord can supply. For some me the session has been wrestling with ways that we can deepen our individual and collecve prayer lives. As a result, we began having elders available for prayer a"er worship on the second Sundays of each month. Many of you have taken advantage of that opportunity and we are grateful for the privilege of praying with and for you. We also changed the structure of the session a bit by assigning an elder specifically to the ministry of prayer. She has helped us become more focused in our praying as she has invited each ministry team to share parcular prayer requests that are then printed and distributed. There is also a small but faithful group of folks who have commi'ed to come together and pray for the church on a regular basis. I believe all of these are great steps forward as we seek to be more faithful in our praying. Our next step will be to enter into a church-wide opportunity that will focus on prayer. It is called, Forty Days of Prayer, and will happen during the season of Lent which begins with Ash Wednesday, February 14 th. During this me I will preaching a series of sermons on the topic of prayer. We will offer small groups that will focus on the pursuit of prayer. In every way possible we will aim at ways that we can enhance and deepen our lives of prayer. Even if you are not in a small group currently, we hope you will consider joining one for this six week period of me. We also hope that you will commit yourself to being in worship during the 40 days of this program if you are in town. We hope the combinaon of sermons and worship and small group focus will pull us deeper into our relaonship with God through prayer. Some special materials will be made available to enhance this experience and each small group will begin with a me of teaching by Rick Warren, Pastor of Saddleback Community Church. If you lead or are in a small group, plan now to join this church-wide study for the season of Lent. If you are not in a small group currently, be looking for the opportunies that we will place before you to join one. I believe this could be a pivotal me in the life of our congregaon and look forward to making this journey with you. Together with you in Christ service, Dear Triangle family, Diane and I consider it such a privilege to have served the Lord with you for now over 30 years. You have cared for and nurtured our family through the years and have extended God s grace to us in innumerable ways. We want to especially thank you for the many ways you have expressed your love for us this year and through the holiday season. We love and appreciate and thank God for you. With love in Christ, Ray and Diane Adult Ed Page 2 Calendar Page 8 Celebrations Page 5 Children s Min Page 3 Fellowship Page 7 Finance Page 5 Outreach Page 4 Youth Page 6

2 Adult Education JOIN AN ADULT EDUCATION CLASS! On Sundays at 10:00 AM there are a variety of classes open to anyone who is interested. Bible Class: Free to Run the Race Facilitators: Richard Rosenberger, Locaon: Room 100 This class will be based on the book by the same name by Gary Ventimiglia, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a psychoanalyst in private practice in Van Nuys, California. The class will explore what it means to shed those things from our past that weigh us down and keep us from running the race marked for us. HomeBuilders Class: Gracious Debates: Bridging our Poli0cal and Social Divides Facilitators: Harry Albert, Garry Crites, Sherene Min, Locaon: Fellowship Hall A In this world of divisive polics, we as Chrisans are called to rise above the rancorous discussions that occur in all facets of society and debate the hot topics of the day in a way consistent with Biblical principles. Using the early church in Acts as a model of unity in the body in the face of disagreement, we will learn how to debate like Chrisans by discussing hard quesons of our day. The focus of this study is not to determine the right answers on these issues but rather to be a witness to the larger culture that is paralyzed by parsanship and discord, maintaining unity in the face of faithful disagreement. Fellowship: Understanding & Applying the Bible Facilitator: Jeannie Phelps, Locaon: Fellowship Hall B We grow in relationship with God as we see him in a variety of situations. This study will help us to learn how to get the most out of reading and studying the Bible with the goal of getting to know God better. The Fellowship Class is a group that values conversaon and offers hospitality as they gather to study God s word. All studies are centered around group discussion of biblical topics. Bible Study will resume January 17 The Book of Luke Wednesday Nights at 6:00PM (except Ministry Team Night) Remarkable for its rich detail, precise language, and meculous research, the Gospel of Luke contains insights into the life and ministry of Jesus that only a master historian could have uncovered. Dive into this book and feel the amazement of the people in Luke s gospel as they encountered firsthand the Messiah of Israel. 2
