1 March Newsle,er Celebrating God s Presence In Our Lives 2017 Our Vision Growing spiritually together in an open dialogue. Living our dual denomina7onal tradi7ons and making new tradi7ons. Energizing with a variety of dynamic worship services. Welcoming and including all and ac7vely involving inter-genera7onal members. Engaging our youth and growing side-byside with them. Leveraging our talents to benefit others. Follow Us On Social Media! Lenten reflec1on The Greek word Εκκλησία (Ekklesia) has as its simple meaning; church, assembly or community. IHC is our Ecclesia, our community of believers that resides in the Church as a whole. Every congrega1on represents the whole Church. Like the parables of Jesus, which are illustra1ons of the Kingdom of heaven, Jesus asks, here is the Kingdom of Heaven, can you see it? Like the parables, we have different lenses in which we view community. As Chris1ans, our community centers on the love, life, and teachings of Jesus. When we are assembled as the Ekklesia on Sunday mornings we represent a part of the whole that makes up what we call The Church. It is us and the Catholics, Methodists, Pentecostals, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and all the rest that assemble to become the Body of Christ. We have our differences, but what family does not? We squabble, but always unite beneath the Cross. This is what makes us different. This is what makes us unique. No secular community can compare. In this we are called to live both in the world and more importantly in Christ. In the good ole days we had a be,er understanding of this dichotomy of living. We were no less busy, we worked hard, par1cipated in sports, semifinals and finals were played, we had piano lessons and dance troupe, we had co1llion, we had studies and debate team, we had mortgages, car payments, bills and myriad other distrac1ons to keep us fully occupied. While we had all these things ea1ng up our precious 1me we most importantly had the Church. It was the Church that occupied the apex of our being, and no worldly distrac1on could keep us from it. Back in the good ole days a coach that suggested a Sunday prac1ce or game would be fired, tarred, and feathered and run out of town on a rail. What happened? How did our Ecclesia, our community, become second or third 1er in our hierarchy of needs? Has the Church lost its credibility to remain the apex of our being? Have we put God on hold while we live our busy lives? We hold that tradi1on is important to us. The Church is our tradi1on and Church is important to us because it was important to our parents, grandparents and beyond. As we begin our journey of Lent prayerfully consider these ques1ons. As we march towards the cross of Good Friday let our thoughts be of metanoia and recompense. Let us resolve to live, move, and have our being in the person of Christ and in His community, and remember we are only as strong as our weakest point guard. Peace and all good, George+

5 Adult Forum March Infrastructure is extremely cri7cal to our economic growth and yet America s aging US transporta7on system suffers from insufficient investment. Building transporta7on infrastructure isn t usually poli7cally controversial. It puts people to work in both white and blue-collar jobs. It lays the founda7on for economic development and reduces the poten7al for calami7es such as bridge collapses and everyday problems like airport conges7on. Yet, if this is so, why is it so hard to reach a consensus and move forward? This forum will look at Cincinna7 s issues from a city perspec7ve and the region s need for coopera7on. March 5 James Pilcher, inves7ga7ve reporter for the Cincinna7 Enquirer will examine the Brent Spence Bridge. He will outline the problems and tackle why it has taken so long to get any resolu7on. March 12 Adam Kressler Sr Manager at the Greater Cincinna7/Northern Kentucky Interna7onal Airport. In the Spring of 2016 the Airport embarked on a strategic plan to guide decisions and push the airport forward. The plan iden7fies specific goals that will define success. Adam will discuss progress being made at CVG to reach those goals and share what the airport is doing to con7nue elevate the service it provides our community. March 19 John Schneider Managing Member of First Valley Holdings LLC and was a board member of Downtown Cincinna7 Inc. Known to many as Mr. Streetcar John will address our streetcar, rail transit and walkable ci7es. March 26 Eric Thomas of Benchmark River and Rail Terminals and Execu7ve Director of CORBA. Eric will discuss the transporta7on system of the Ohio River. Come and learn how freight moves up and down our majes7c waterway.
