2 PAGE 2 Looking Ahead A Note from Pastor Nicole: Happy April, OBC Family! We ve celebrated our first Holy Week together, and now we head into the Easter season. Seven weeks of it, to be exact! We ve had a few snow showers, but the real spring IS coming, I promise! With spring comes new life all around us our days are longer, flowers are popping up from the ground, the trees are starting to bud, and we re seeing all kinds of birds return to our skies. The renewal of the earth reminds us of the Resurrection of Christ and our place in it. We have been charged with being caretakers of the planet, of its people and other living creatures, and being keepers of the Gospel and proclaimers of the Good News. May 5 Pastor Nicole s Ordination at Immanuel Baptist May 6 Communion Sunday May 15 Deacons Council & Trustees Meet May 20th Pentecost That s where we find ourselves today as a church, as a people renewed. We ve been given the gifts and grace we need to serve as the hands and feet of Christ. How will live into this call in the coming year? The possibilities for ministry are endless, and I m looking forward to continuing this journey with you. One final note: In order to accommodate the needs of the church staff and members of the congregation, I ve altered my office hours once more. Thanks for being patient with me as I continue to iron out the kinks and figure out how things work. Let s hope the third time is the charm! I ll be in the office on Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30am-2pm (except on the second Thursday of the month, then it ll be 12-2pm), and by appointment. I usually do not meet with folks on Mondays or Saturdays, which are my days of rest. I wish you a rejuvenating and restorative April! The service will be accompanied by three local church choirs; Ogden Baptist, Greece Baptist and Immanuel Baptist. All are welcome and please plan to stay and enjoy a reception following the service. Calling All Lay Readers Young and Old! Pastor Nicole welcomes anyone interested in reading scripture on Sunday s to sign up on the main church bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall! Save Your Stuff! Saturday, May 19th 8:00 am 2:00 pm OBC will be having a Rummage Sale that will include a plant sale and baked food sale. Any questions call Linda Benjamin Acceptable Items -Household goods in clean, good working order --Furniture in good condition or antiques --Clothing (in good condition, washed and no staining) --Accessories: Jewelry, purses, scarves, belts, ties, gloves, money clips, etc. --Any lotion, powder or perfume/cologne must be new and not used. --Books: Hard cover must be less than 5 years old, soft covers of any age are acceptable if in good condition --Children's Toys/Games (clean and in good condition w/all necessary pieces) --Linens: Item (such as drapery) should be clean, no staining, no tears and visibly marked with item dimensions. Bedding, sheets, towels, blankets, etc. should be in good condition. --Exercise equipment -Yard tools/items --Holiday/seasonal items NOT Acceptable Items -No Teflon whatsoever due to toxins --No paint, pesticides or other chemicals --No electronics unless they are working radios, phones, cd/dvd players or flatscreen TV's less than three years old. -- No VCR's, vcr tapes, computers, printers or cassette tapes. --No knives or other weapons --No mattresses. -- No used candles --Clothing: No lingerie or pj's, nightgowns, socks, unmentionables, etc. unless they are new. **Items may be brought to the church any time and put in the Sunday school classroom at the end of the hall. If you have large items that you need help getting to the church ask Linda Benjamin for help. ( )

5 PAGE 8 KidzMin Moment March was all about the life and walk of Jesus, we spoke a lot about Jesus as a real human, with a real family and a real story. Jesus life shows us what true faith and true Sacrifice really is. April will kick off with a huge Alleluia! As we conclude our Life of Jesus unit on April 8th learning about the different symbols of Easter, and then on April 15th we ll mosey down the old road to Emmaus. PAGE 5 This Month The Spotlight shines on Lincoln Cole! Lincoln chose this month s Bible study theme and his strong faith foundation is an inspiration to his little brother and classmates. Lincoln celebrated this years Lent by giving up his gum chewing habit and he made it the full forty days! He also did brilliant as he kicked off another cycle of youth lay readers on Palm Sunday! Way to go Lincoln! Wednesday Night Faith Discovery We are well into our Job studies this month which so far have included some very mathematical skills as we calculated just how blessed Job was before and after his suffering, created some Job pottery pieces and compared and contrasted Job s faith during his ordeal with Christ s faith during his trials for Lent tie-in. We are excited to continue on into April learning more about Job and his story! Grown Ups and Kids helped to roll roller-bandages and pack hygiene kits on March 10th. Special Thanks to Bruce Thomas for crafting the roller bandage roller! It was a big help and so much fun! Ogden Baptist is celebrating a big anniversary in years of fellowship and service!
