As for the 1st trip to grandparents day, I was reminded of the significant role we play in the development and growth of our children and grandchildren and the role models we are in their lives. Do we as Catholic men and women exhibit the kind of life that we expect our offspring and their children to follow? Do we accept our responsibility in the role modeling we need to show by being involved in our Church, such as attending Mass regularly, taking the sacraments of Confession and Communion, and being involved with sharing our faith within our own families. As I sat in church Friday morning I was amazed by how packed the place was, but I also thought about how empty it is at other times of Mass. We need to do a better job if we are to have our children and grandchildren continue to participate in there Catholic Faith as they grow May 4 KC Officer Meeting 5: Tootsie Roll Drive 9 Holy Hour for Vocations at St. Clement 4 PM 11 First Degree 6:30; KC Membership Meeting 7; Ladies Aux Happy Mother s Day! 17 4th Degree Mass 5:30; Social 6:30; Dinner 7:15 KC Center, Sheboygan 18 $2 Burger Night Family Night 5 23 Clergy Appreciation / Recognition Night; Social 5:30 / Dinner 6:30 June 1 KC Officer Meeting 5:45 8 Installation of Officers 6:30; KC Membership Meeting 7; Ladies No Meeting 13 Holy Hour for Vocations at St. Clement 4 PM 15 $2 Burger Night Happy Father s Day! 21 4 th Degree Meeting Social 5:30pm, Installation of Officers 6:30pm, Dinner 7:00pm, Klemme s Wagon Wheel, Howards Grove 30 KC Charity Fish Fry

4 (Continued from page 1) into adulthood. I just read an article questioning why 80 to 90 % of men do not continue to go to church as they become young adults and it seems that there is no current consensus on this issue. I ask that you look at your lives and role model and encourage your family members to join you as you actively practice your Catholic Faith. We must be the example of what being a practicing Catholic Man and Women is all about. Going to Stevens Point for the State KC Convention is interesting to say the least and educational as well. Some of the activities reinforced my previous comments and thoughts as we sat in the Saturday afternoon Mass which was celebrated by four of the five Bishop s from Wisconsin. The Pageantry and Celebration of Jesus gift to us of forgiveness and Communion was very moving for me, as was the size of the group there in attendance (somewhere between 700 to 800 people). Now that I have had time to reflect on this wonderful event I ask myself why again do we not see this in our everyday Church services? The answer to me was not that difficult to reach as we had a gathering of Knights of Columbus men and women who are practicing Catholic individuals. So what s the point, again we need to be the role models in our communities, our Church, and our schools. Take the time sharing, participating, and helping in your parishes. Not only are you role modeling your beliefs and commitment to our Church but you are fulfilling our legacy of a member of The (Continued on page 5) Pope Francis Prayer Intentions for May Vatican City, 1 May 2017 (VIS) The Holy Father's prayer intention for May is: Christians in Africa. That Christians in Africa, in imitation of the Merciful Jesus, may give prophetic witness to reconciliation, justice, and peace. Chaplain s Column Brother Knights and Families, May is dedicated to Mary. Her feast on May 13th, as Our Lady of Fatima is very significant. It is the 100th Anniversary of her appearance to Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco. My Chaplain s report has part of a homily given by Supreme Chaplain Lori at Fatima in March of He states: When Our Blessed Mother appeared to the three children, Europe was engulfed to the conflagration of world war. At the time it was thought to be the war to end all wars, but through these three youth, Our Lady of Fatima warned the world that another unimaginably violent war was in the offing. So also, through her, the world was warned of the dictatorships that would foment world-wide violence, most especially Stalinist Russia. We need to ask for Our Lady s intercession for the world today --- a world that faces new and massive threats with the rise of radical Islamic jihadist groups like ISIS on the one hand, and the rise of anti-religious secularism on the other. In the Middle East, innocent people are being beheaded because they are Christians, while in the West, Christians are giving up on their faith and joining the ranks of those who deem religion as either irrelevant or dangerous. On the other side, we see widespread apostasy and, in its wake, the steady loss of religious freedom. Let us earnestly beseech Our Lady of Fatima to intercede for us so that we might stand in solidarity with persecuted Christians by evangelizing, by spreading the Gospel of Jesus, in which the truth about human dignity and freedom is fully revealed. I pray that Our Lady of Fatima will open our eyes more widely to the glory of God shining on the face of Jesus, a light brighter than that of the sun, the light of truth and love for each we were created. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us! In the love of Christ! Fr. Dick

5 Fourth Degree News From Your Faithful Navigator Sir Knights and Ladies, ` Spring is here and we are continuing our celebration of the Easter season. The days are getting longer and new life is seen in all the trees and plants that have been dormant all winter long. Inspired by this new life, hopefully we can use this time to grow our faith and be thankful for all the gifts that we have received from our Heavenly Father. The month of May is dedicated to The Blessed Virgin Mary. The entire month falls within the liturgical season of Easter, which is represented by the liturgical color white the color of light, a symbol of joy, purity and innocence. I would like to welcome our newest 4th Degree member who joined our Assembly at the Exemplification in April Sir Knight Dave Schleicher (Lady Nancy). In addition Sir Knight Brian Brecheisen is transferring into our Assembly from South Bend, IN. The Eastern District is scheduling another Exemplification in fall please continue to recruit new members for our Assembly. Vivat Jesus! 8 Campus Corner Christ Child Academy Recently, the CCA 8th grade class visited Acuity Insurance to tour the facility, learn about the company and its culture, and to hear about future job opportunities after high school and college. The students also rode the Acuity Charity Wheel and enjoyed lunch. The annual 8th grade Living Last Supper was held Thursday, April 13 at Immaculate Conception Church. The performance was well-attended and reverently acted by the 8th graders who worked on this for months. We are proud of their efforts in bringing Jesus' Passion to life for all. Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29 the CCA school play and dinner theater Dinner at Eight, Dead by Nine, was presented by our middle school students. The dinner and performances were held at Ss. Cyril & Methodius in Fr. Cherne Hall. The play went off beautifully to sold out shows both nights. Congratulations to our many talented thespians! Christ Child Academy will be celebrating Grandparents Day & May Crowning on Tuesday, May 2, beginning with Mass at 8:30 am. Following Mass, we will have a short program, coffee and donuts and classroom visits. Please join us for this very special day as a way for the CCA school community to say thank you to all the grandparents who support Christ Child Academy and its students. The CCA Spring Vocal and Catholic School s Band Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 6:00 pm in the Staskunas Activity Center/Gymnasium. Thank you to Annie Kincaid our music teacher and our band director for working with our students and preparing them for their performance. Melissa Raff Grade 4 Christ Child Academy "If you want your children to keep their feet on the ground, put some responsibility on their shoulders." Abigail VanBuren Seton Spring has sprung at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School: Pre-K children welcomed spring with songs and poems about flowers & bugs. They created a flower garden by painting flowers and butterflies. They also made a book about Holy Week that they could take home and read to their parents. 5K students looked at an image and decided if they saw a duck or a bunny, and then had to write about why they saw what they saw it s all in how you look at it! They learned about why the days of Holy Week are so special by washing each other s feet, going to the Living Stations, and by making Resurrection rolls. Grade 1 students learned how to care for the earth and wrote a statement about how they would promise to help the earth. They studied about bees and then wrote an opinion paper about whether they liked bees or not they read the papers aloud in class. The students also made Resurrection eggs as a culmination of their Holy Week/Easter unit. Grade 2 students learned how to use an atlas and then they wrote a fictional story about traveling the world. They studied time and money in their math classes and learned about soil, seeds, planting and worms in science class.

9 Grade 3 children enjoyed a Junior Achievement presentation from officials from the city of Sheboygan: Mayor Mike Vandersteen, City Planner Chad Pelischek, and Director of Public Works David Biebel. Grade 4 students studied the Southwestern region of the U.S. and then compared it to the climate & terrain of WI. They wrote a persuasive paper and learned the importance of using evidence to support their statements. They also worked hard with fractions in math class. Grade 5 kids created life-size representations of some of the body systems. They also created their own classroom government and wrote a classroom constitution! They acted out the Stations of the Cross and made a class video to keep. Middle school students were very busy: English mastering the use of adverbs. Religion covenant people of Israel and Judah, Baptism & Confirmation and the church s heritage. Science types of energy & converting energy, sound waves & light waves, and electricity & magnets Math congruent angles, lines & shapes, rates & percentages, and trigonometric ratios (solving missing sides of a triangle) Medjugorje Message May 2, 2016 Apparition - monthly message on the day for nonbelievers through Mirjana: Dear children, I am calling you to pray, not to ask for but to offer sacrifice sacrificing yourselves. I am calling you to reveal the truth and merciful love. I am praying to my Son for you, for your faith which is all the more diminishing in your hearts. I am imploring Him to help you with the divine spirit, as I also desire to help you with my motherly spirit. My children, you must be better. Only those who are pure, humble and filled with love sustain the world they are saving themselves and the world. My children, my Son is the heart of the world. He should be loved and prayed to, and not always betrayed anew. Therefore, you, apostles of my love, spread the faith in the hearts of people by your example, your prayer and merciful love. I am beside you, I will help you. Pray for your shepherds to have all the more light, so as to be able to illuminate all those who live in darkness. Thank you. We re grateful to be together for our Catholic education. The Holy Spirit is alive at Seton Catholic School! Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School has much to be thankful for! We are very blessed. Alice Oberbroeckling
