1 Weekly Connection June 4, 2015 In This Issue This Sunday & Week Ahead Joys & Concerns Upcoming Events Children & Youth Women's Ministries SAGE Mission From the Church Office Sharing God's Word Worship 8:30 & 10:45 am Ephesians 4:1 16 Baptism Sunday! One of the greatest joys in ministry is watching kids grow. Seeing them grow in their faith, watching them use their talents, bearing witness as they become the people they are called to be. There in the water, we celebrate the gifts that God has given to each of us for ministry, and we welcome the newly baptized child, youth or adult into what we call "the priesthood of believers." Paul's letter to the Ephesians mentions that some will be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists; some pastors and teachers. I like to picture that there's a giant ellipses at the end of that passage... Three little dots that mean AND SO ON! And all the rest! And all the other joyful callings we have yet to imagine or witness, but that we know God is dreaming up for these young people, from the moment they are born... A lot can happen in the space of those three little dots, trailing off into the sunset... But I like the next bit too. The part about all these varied gifts being for the same purpose: "to equip the saints for ministry." That's important work. That's why we're here. That's why we keep coming back to the water. See you Sunday! Rev. Erin Wathen, Senior Pastor This Sunday & the Week Ahead Please visit our web site for more details on upcoming events. This Sunday we will celebrate baptism and confirmation of the following children: Baptism Allison Baier, Patrick Sullivan, Hana Bowsher, Annalyse Yoder Confirmation Ben Seitz, Natalie Raaf Special Music Kristy Blomquist, Peggy Kelly & Cindy Egger Farris offering "Nothing But the Water" 1/5

Women drove ambulances in war zones and replaced men in military office positions. The skills women learned, along with gaining a new sense of independence, changed the role of 20th century women completely. Nancy Cramer has taught children and adults for more than 30 years. She has volunteered in a number of areas: Science Pioneers, Unity Church of Overland Park, Northeast Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and the Bellefontaine Corps of the Salvation Army. The past four years she has been one of the many volunteers at the National World War I Museum. Her interest in this topic has been the subject of four published books with several more planned in a series called "World War One Poppy Books." 3/5
