Sunday 17 February am Morning Worship led by Majors David and Jane Alton Theme: Calling of Disciples To KNOW Christ ~ To LIVE Christ ~ To SHARE Christ

BOSCOMBE CORPS NEWS Prayer Requests We have a number of our congregation who need our prayers at the moment for various reasons. Please pray for Georgina Bentley and for Joy Cox who is undergoing surgery on Monday. Thank you for the flowers The flowers today have been given by the Varley and Whittingham families in memory of Keith and Ged. Beloved husbands, fathers, grandfathers and greatgrandfather. Both greatly missed. Have You Heard the News? Major Georgina Atkinson is featured in this week s edition of the Salvationist. She was interviewed by Lieut-Colonel Jonathan Roberts (Editor of Salvationist) about her Life of Faithful Service. If you would like a copy of the article, please speak to Joanne. Calling All Knitters! Last Christmas Carlisle Salvation Army knitted lots of little angels and left them all over the city to be taken home by passers-by, reminding them of the true meaning of Christmas. We would love to be able to do this in Boscombe this December. We would like to aim for at least 500! So if you would like to knit some angels, please see Christine Stringer for the pattern. Thank you! Funeral Arrangements for Margaret Kendrew The funeral is being held on Friday 22 February at the Bournemouth Crematorium commencing at 2.30pm. The service will be conducted by Major Colin Hunt. May God bless Gillian, Peter and the family at this sad time. Band CDs for Sale Stuck for what to buy as an Easter Present? Why not buy someone you love the latest Boscombe Band CD An Easter Tale. Speak to Tom Hinchliffe who would be more than happy to sell you a copy. SP&S Roadshow The SP&S Roadshow will be held at Boscombe Corps on Thursday 21 February from 12 noon until 7.00pm. The shop will carry a selection of stock include uniforms, casual clothing, CDs and books.

PRAYER MATTERS Monday 18 February (NSB343 'O Worship the Lord') Love is... Restorative. Love doesn't discourage, is not negative or dismissive, and doesn't leave people despairing and without optimism. Love brings Hope... and the Love of Jesus restores us. It not only heals but releases us into our full potential. (IW) Tuesday 19 February (NSB895 'The Saviour Sought') Love is... Forgiving. It's not easy to hold a loving and forgiving attitude when someone hurts us and treats us unkindly... but Jesus tells us we must go out of our way to do just that. (1 John 4:16) Father God, Your forgiveness sets me free. Please change my heart and help me to forgive instead of holding grudges. (IW) Wednesday 20 February (NSB907 'What a Wonderful Change') Focus on the Helping-Hand Appeal, and particularly the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, where every day is a struggle for survival. It is harsh and squalid, unfair and neglected... but not hopeless. Pray for the Salvation Army as it works and walks alongside these communities, supporting them to start self-help groups. (THQ) Thursday 21 February (NSB940 'For the World') Give praise and thanks to the Lord for our Army's heritage of communicating Christ, unashamedly, and for the freedom we have to proclaim the Gospel. (THQ) Friday 22 February (NSB838 'How Wonderful it is to Walk with God') Give thanks today for the combined, faithful service over very many years to Boscombe Corps (and other Corps too) of both Margaret and Tom Kendrew. We remember them both with great affection as we served alongside them. Pray especially today for Gillian and Susan and all the family members. Place them in God's Hands at this time, especially Alison and Joanne. Saturday 23 February (NSB300 'Gracious Spirit') Love is... Humble.. and Gentle.. Patient,. Bearing with one another in love. (1 John 4:16) God Himself showed us the importance of love by allowing His only Son, Jesus, to die for us. We are who we are because of that love. My Father, thank You for Your constant love. In Jesus' name. Amen. (THQ) February (NSB87 'Jesus, what a Beautiful Name'') Tomorrow is the start of Boscombe Corps hosting the 'SleepSafe' week. 7 churches have committed to ensuring there is crisis provision, a winter emergency beds scheme, for rough sleepers who want to make a change in their lives. There will also be practical support, advice and encouragement to make that sometimes difficult transition off the streets a little easier. Just now, let's pray for many opportunities to present themselves every day next week, 'Wherever a human being exists, there is an opportunity to do a kindness'.

BOSCOMBE CORPS PROGRAMME This Week s Programme Week beginning 17 February 2019 All Week BH1 Project 10.00am to 4.00pm (Monday to Friday) 10.00am to 2.00pm (Saturday and Sunday) Tuesday 19 Bournemouth Area Fellowship Band Practice 9.30am Wednesday 20 Crafty Ladies 7.30pm Thursday 21 Home League (Guest Speaker: Nigel Bishop) 11.00am SP&S Roadshow 12.00pm to 7.00pm Senior Band Practice 7.45pm Friday 22 Boscombe Corps Meal Run 6.30pm Future Events February 2019 Monday 25 to Sunday 3 March 2019 Sunday 3 Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 Thursday 7 Sunday 10 Sunday 17 Monday 18 to Sunday 31 Boscombe Corps Self-Denial Altar Service Divisional Celebration (including the installation of our new Divisional Commanders) 4.00pm 24-3 Prayer SEE INSERT Divisional Adult and Family Ministries Boscombe Corps SEE POSTER Open Band Rehearsal Joint Concert by Boscombe Band and Bournemouth Concert Brass 7.45pm Prayer Breakfast 9.00am Bible Study 6.00pm Boscombe Corps Fundraising Event Joint Concert by Boscombe Band and Epiphany School Choir SEE POSTER Mothers Day Please join us for tea, coffee and fellowship in The Sanctuary after the morning meeting

As we continue to seek God s will for our corps, it is vital that we spend time in prayer. With this in mind, there will be a 3-day prayer event in the Sanctuary and parts of the main hall from 10pm Thursday 7 March until 9am Sunday 10 March, concluding with a prayer breakfast at 9am. The prayer space will be open on Thursday from 10pm 1am, then 6am 1am on the Friday and Saturday and from 6am 9am on Sunday morning. We would like to know that there are at least 2 people in the prayer space for every hour it is open. There is something very powerful about a continuous stream of prayer. We are so excited about what God will do for us, in us and through us! Please be an active part of this and sign up on the rota in the foyer as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please speak to Majors David and Jane.
