But what does His birth mean to you as we go into another year. Paul wri ng to the Gala ans says My children, I am suffering birth pain for you again. I will suffer un l Christ s life is in your life. Gala ans 4: 19. Just as our Lord came into human history from outside of it, He must also come into us from outside. Have we allowed our personal human lives to become a Bethlehem for the Son of God? We cannot enter the realm of the Kingdom of God unless we are born again from above by a birth totally unlike physical birth. John reminds us, You must be born again. (3:7). This isn t a command, but a fact based on the authority of God. The evidence of the new birth is that we yield ourselves so completely that Christ is formed in us. And once Christ is formed in us. His nature immediately begins to work in us. God Evident in the Flesh. This is what is made so profoundly possible for you and for me through the redemp on of man by Jesus Christ. (With acknowledgment to Oswald Chambers.) Happy New Year! Barrie & Maria
Update A message received 27th December from Zimbabwe Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. May the Lord abundantly bless you all. Stay in the ever loving presence of Christ. All my love to you all, I miss you greatly. Elizabeth Museka. Congratulation to......philip Fisher and his girlfriend Catherine on their engagement....emily Fisher, who celebrates her 18th birthday on 14th January. Look Up Look Out 4-6pm Sunday 31st January The intention is to allow space for us to explore the essence of mission, the heart of who we are called to be as disciples. The hope is that, as we meet and talk together, we will find ourselves inspired by the Holy Spirit, not least through one another. It may well be that these gatherings will generate creative ideas that will come to fruition in 2016, as well as enabling conversations between individuals that will continue to develop thereafter. I would therefore encourage you to come, as together we Look up and Look out. Norman Ord Inspire, Divisional Newsletter Issue 37 2 Rotas FLOWERS Thank you to those who bring the flowers which add so much to our worship from week to week. Flowers during January will be brought by: 3 10 Emily Fisher TEA & COFFEE Thank you to those who serve tea and coffee after our meetings and add to our fellowship. This years event was in aid of the local Macmillan Cancer unit at the Lister Hospital. The evening was led by Lieutenant Megan Lowe (Bishops Stor ord) and raised nearly two thousand pounds. In addi on to the Corps Band and Songsters, there were performances by a mbrel group and two local school choirs (Pixmore Junior School and Fearnhill School). 4
The Macmillan Team together with Corps officers Barrie & Maria Sampson, Bandmaster David Fisher and Lieutenant Megan Lowe. It was on a Star Wars night Letchworth band playing to a packed auditorium on the night of the premiere of the new Star Wars film. The local cinema had approached the Corps and asked for the band to play fes ve music un l the showing of the film. The last piece of music played was an arrangement of the Star Wars main theme when the crowded cinema erupted with cheers and applause. Unfortunately Hans our soloist was unable to a end but we did have two tuba-ckers! 5
Carol Service We enjoyed a morning of celebra on which included cra s and other ac vi es for families to share. A selfie of the cast, before for the start of our na vity. 6
Our na vity drama told of a grumpy innkeeper whose sleep was disturbed as he answered the door to many visitors!...and then discovered a very special baby had been born. At the end of the service, Father Christmas visited and the children received gi s. A erwards, we enjoyed fellowship over lunch. 7
Fun and games at the JAM club Christmas party. Twenty three children enjoyed the end of term Christmas party. The children made Chris ngles. Parents joined the children and Childrens workers to sing carols at the end of the evening. The Band went carolling at local public houses in Letchworth, Baldock and surrounding villages. The Songsters, supported by corps members sang carols at Residen al homes in Letchworth. 8
Members of the band carolling at Asda in Stevenage On December 22nd, we had a Standing Day at Sainsbury s, Letchworth, ending with carolling by band members in the evening. During the day we heard from those dona ng about what the Salva on Army meant to them and received many words of encouragement for the work of the Army. Thanks to the generosity of the public, a total of was raised. 9
Bickerdikes Garden Centre Sunday 20th December Carol singing was enjoyed at the garden centre; the band played carols chosen by the public. Bickerdikes Garden Centre provided refreshments. The Band at Lister Hospital on Christmas Day with the Mayor of Stevenage, Professor Howard Burrell. 10
