What an amazing feeling! But have you ever experienced the opposite, being shunned or somehow locked in guilt? This isn t what we want to feel, but sometimes we inflict it on other people. Matt. 6:14-15 and Eph. 4:32 share a picture of how God treats us based on how we treat other people. If we show forgiveness as God does, then our sins are forgiven. But, if we withhold it, God counts us as far away from him. Our attitude and willingness to forgive not only can hurt our earthly relationships but can become an obstacle in our relationship with God. No Christian is an island. God invites us to participate in his divine, mercy-filled character. Refusing to do so really does have negative effects on our lives: a dampened spirit, a heavy burden and spiritual bitterness (not to mention being far away from God). But transforming to become more like Christ and to forgive as God forgives pours out mercy not only on others but on yourself. For with the measure you use, the same will be used to you (Matt. 7:2). We have the wonderful opportunity to show the world what kind of a loving God we have by the way we love and forgive others. God has blessed us with the gift of his Son, even while we were still sinners. What an amazing feeling of spiritual restoration we have received. What an amazing gift we can pass on by how we imitate Christ. We must forgive as God forgives. ~Addison~

BY FAITH-BY SIGHT-The Historical Connection: taught by Skip Cole in the West Fellowship Hall. Learn a bit more about people, places and events which are mentioned in Bible accounts as we place them next to archeological evidence and historical records. Consider that while we are called to walk by faith (trusting what we cannot or may not actually see), we also understand that the Bible record is one of actual historical value with tangible evidence. Jesus was and is a real figure in history and so were His friends, Apostles and enemies; they lived in real time and in real places - among real folks; So too were all the previously recorded people, places and events predating the coming of Christ. Explore Pharaohs, Caesars, Kings, Tyrants, palaces, cities, battles, disasters and other interesting things mentioned in scripture and corroborated in archeology and historical records. Join us for a different look into Scripture for inspiration, encouragement and enlightenment. Did you find any satisfaction in that experience at the time? Do you see it differently now in hindsight? How would you rate your grit? What do you personally need to do to improve your grit? What are some examples of unrealistic expectations in your life? How do they diminish your ability to find satisfaction in the midst of discomfort?
