Come join in the fellowship and get to know your brothers in Christ. There will be uplifting messages, sport activities, great meals, and generally a very relaxing time in God s created beautiful nature. These items were delivered a couple of weeks ago and the leadership team at the Ronald McDonald House was stunned in very positive ways with the outpouring of support that this congregation showed to them and the many families that will walk through their doors! Although we may never see or know about the lives that have been touched by these very simple acts of service to our community, we can be confident that our God and His great Name is being proclaimed!!! ~Anthony~

Netherwood News We will have our Sunday evening Worship Service in the auditorium for tonight only due to the youth ministry banquet that will be taking place in the fellowship hall. Thank you for your understanding. Fall Quarter Teachers are needed for the 4 & 5 year old Bible classes for Wednesday night and Sunday. See Ray or Carrie Candelaria. 4 Sunday AM Adult Classes FALL Quarter 2016 Bible 101 The Big Picture-taught by: Scott Nance and Scot Ruska, in the Auditorium We at Netherwood have been doing a lot of Bible reading this year. As we read through the Bible, we find it is a complex work: 66 books by 40+ authors over millennia of time. It s not obvious how all of that fits together and it s important to our understanding. In this course, in keeping with our theme of Equipping, we will present the Bible as a whole, and fit all the books into The Big Picture of God s revelation. By the end of the course, we will have covered: The names, author, and content of all the books; The stages of the history of God s people and how the books fit into that story; The categories of books (e.g., history, poetry ) and how the type of book affects the way those books are understood; The way each part of the Bible is part of God s revelation of His abiding love for each of us. This is a repeat of the course presented by Walter Lane and Scot Ruska in 2014 and will cover the same material. One in Christ A Study of Unity in Ephesians-taught by Craig Hayes in the West Fellowship Hall In Ephesians 1:5, Paul writes that God predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself. Paul then goes on to show what God intended for us a unified working body. So what does it mean for us to be unified? How is unity created and maintained? What can we do individually to realize Christian unity? And what might be accomplished if we saw unity as God intended? Equipped to Help-Ministering in Times of Crisis -taught by Walter Lane-East Fellowship Hall If you have a heart for helping others who are going through suffering seasons but are unsure of what to do or say, then join us in a very practical discussion of how we can help and not hurt our brothers and sisters who are dealing with crises. Among the topics we will explore are: Identifying the suffering, being a comforting comforter, the lost art of listening, empathy, prayer, what to do when you are in over your head and helping the helpers. (Will be taught in the Young Married Class next quarter) Genesis Ends, the Exodus Begins, Part II taught by Zane Heard and Randy Dupuy Discussion class meeting in Room 104 In this fall's discussion class we'll see Jacob's descendants grow into large and powerful nation - one that looks threatening to a Pharaoh that did not know the Joseph that once saved his nation from famine. This Pharoah will enslave the nation of Israel and God will rescue them through Moses, a reluctant hero. We'll pay attention to how God got things done, why He worked that way, and the significance for us today. A Design for Living-taught by Scott Paden (Young Marrieds) Upstairs in the Family Life Room Obstacles are everywhere! Some of them real, some fabricated by us. Each of us has things that separate and hinder us from being useful. This class will focus on a daily process and principles that can maximize our usefulness so that we can be closer to God and be of service to those around us! 1 Peter 4:7-11 Daniel - taught by Aaron Cordova and Curtis Burnett - Upstairs in the Young Single Adult Class (Ages 18 to Twenty - something) We will be reading and studying the book of Daniel. Analyze the dreams and vision that took place throughout the book. What they mean for us and the future. As we read this book we will see the pressures that Daniel faced and understand how he overcame it, so that we can take his life and apply it to ours in the world we live in today Living in Tension taught by Anthony Favors Upstairs in the High School Room This quarter, the student ministry at Netherwood will just begin to scratch the surface of LGBTQ issues including what God s word has to say about these issues mainly considering how disciples of Jesus are called to respond and live in the tension of both grace and truth. We will not and cannot cover every single aspect of these issues and there will be no easy answers but we WILL grow in our knowledge and understanding of people and most importantly, God & His word!

Small Group Questions September 4, 2016 You have to forgive and forget When is the last time you forgot where you left your keys? Or where you parked your car in a big parking lot? Or your anniversary (gasp!)? How do we forget these things without even trying?! Read Jeremiah 31:34 What does it mean that God "will remember their sins no more"? How does that work? Read Ephesians 4:32 & Colossians 3:13 So we are to forgive as we have been forgiven by God. Think of a time someone has sinned against you - lied, gossiped, cheated, or betrayed you. Now that you remember the incident, how do you "remember their sins no more"? (Is the answer the same as the one above?) Discuss ways to accomplish this. How does it benefit us as forgivers to forgive? What does it cost us if we don t forgive? If there are benefits to forgiving, and costs for not forgiving, why is it hard to forgive? Close in prayer with someone in mind that you need to forgive. Ask for God's help in this and thank Him for his example of forgiveness.
