2 MEETINGS - EVENTS & F.Y.I. ST. GEORGE FOOD PANTRY GIVING TREE 2018 The St. George Food Pantry was thrilled to accept the 110+ Christmas gifts we provided this year. The MAPC Elves delivered them on Wednesday. Please know that the families are appreciative of your generosity. As always, the Board of Deacons wishes to express its gratitude to our church family and friends for helping make this Christmas a happy one for those who need a little extra help at the holidays. CHRISTMAS EVE POTLUCK The Christmas Eve pre-service potluck dinner will be held in the social hall at 6 pm. A ham will be ready to join your best side dishes. ARTIST WALK AND TALK - Today Today, following worship and a quick walk through in coffee hour, two artists, currently exhibiting in the congregation s art exhibit, will discuss their work and answer your questions. Judy Lindblad, humorist; and Valerie Bernardino, artist, will share their approach to their art, what motivates them in their art form, and where they feel the Spirit. Join us as we discover their secrets. FROM THE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRY MAPC GOES CAROLING TODAY! Join us for Christmas Caroling from 2-5:00 pm, today. We will leave from MAPC promptly at 2 P.M. Our caroling will end at Clifton Healthcare Center (formerly Communicare of Clifton on Probasco) and we ll return from there to MAPC. BONES OF CINCINNATUS CHRISTMAS CONCERT Next Sunday, December 23, 4:00 pm Mt Auburn Presbyterian Church Tis the season To come to the Bones of Cincinnatus concert! You will be treated to beautiful arrangements that showcase this gifted brass orchestra and have the opportunity to sing-along to some of your favorite Christmas Carols, accompanied by over a dozen trombones. 3 PROGRESSIVE EDUCATION COMMUNITY Adult Encounters, Sundays at 9:45 a.m. in the Geier Room. Advent Series continues: Spiritual Practices for the Season, a Thoughtful Christian study for Advent. Each Sunday in Advent, we will use a different method to reflect on Scripture and practice a different way of praying. No advance preparation is needed; come to one or all sessions as you are able. Sunday, December 23: Road map of faith and Sent as Light into the World prayer Sunday, December 30: NO ADULT EDUCATION CLASS Godly Play Following the time with the youngest disciples, the children leave for the Education Wing, with the Godly Play storyteller, for a time to learn about the Christian faith through stories and play. We are always in need of Doorpersons who help in the classroom and support our Godly Play Storyteller, Bess Lindeman. No experience is necessary; only a commitment to our young children is required. Nursery Care Nursery care is provided from 9:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. for infants and children up to 3 years of age. CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING Supporting Our Past, Present and Future Leaders By giving to the Christmas Joy Offering, you provide assistance to current and retired church workers and their families in their time of need, and you contribute to the development of our future leaders at Presbyterian-related racial ethnic schools and colleges. The entire offering is divided between The Assistance Program and racial ethnic education. These are the programs supported through this offering: The Assistance Program of the Board of Pensions Racial Ethnic Schools and Colleges Racial Ethnic Leadership Development The Christmas Joy Offering will be received on Sunday, December 23, and Christmas Eve.

4 OPEN STACKS BOOK CLUB TURNS 15! Yes, 2019 marks the 15th year since we first met to discuss the Da Vinci Code. It is hard to believe, but true. Be on the lookout for the entire list of books we read during that time, along with other celebration surprises. We are meeting in the home of Pat and Gary Basler on January 4th. We gather at 7pm with the discussion starting at 7:30. For the month of January, levity is the theme. We will discuss The 100-Year-Old-Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disappeared, by Jonas Jonasson. It is a humorous account of a man who desperately wants to forget his 100th birthday. The story reminds us to live life to its fullest. Hope to see you all there. As always, please bring a snack and drink to share...everyone is welcome. See Nan Costello for a library copy of the book. FROM BUILDING & GROUNDS This time of year comes with a lot of extra paper, cardboard and plastic wrappings of all kinds, due to special holiday gifts and purchases. In light of our commitment to Earth Care, please help the church follow the guidelines of the City of Cincinnati s recycling program Recycling cans are located in the church kitchen, and in the Geier Room. Our church recycling bin is located in the parking lot next to the waste dumpster. Please do not place plastic bag liners in the recycling cans and DO NOT place plastic trash bags in the church recycling bin! Also, remember that cardboard, if it contains food debris of any kind, is NOT recyclable. No food waste should be placed in the recycling bin. To save space, break down all cardboard boxes before placing them in the recycling bin. It s acceptable to leave labels on the items indicated in the graphic below. Thank you for your help and THANK YOU for recycling!
