How is your family growing in the midst of these challenging times? Seek out Gods Grace (Luke 2:41-52) Let us pray for families that they may be strengthened in their fidelity to God and one another and be fillled with love that binds them together. (Vocation View is sponsored by the Serra Club.) IS YOURS A HOLY FAMILY? When the Bible says holy it means separate or different. The word implies being healthy and whole in a world where much is un-healthy and fragmented. Family holiness includes humor and laughter, compassion and understanding, and the capacity to forgive and be forgiven, to love and be loved. That s holiness. Holy families are not free from conflict, nor are they free from pain. Holiness in families, rather, comes from learning to forgive and to be reconciled, and learning to face our problems and do something about them. In family life, holy means striving to surrender to God s light within us when the darkness around us seems overwhelming. It means struggling day after day to bring creative order - if only a bit of it - to the chaos in our lives. When we work at cultivating forgiveness, reconciliation, and community, we embody God s holy will in the context of family life. Consider it with prayer and hope this week. Is your family a holy family? PRAYER TO THE HOLY FAMILY Jesus, our brother, son of God and son of Mary, I thank you for the gift of life you have entrusted to my care. Help me be a parent both tender and wise, both loving and forgiving, able both to discipline and to give freedom. Mary, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, nourish our family with your faith and your love. Keep us close to your Son, Jesus, in all our sorrows and joys. Joseph, Foster-Father to Jesus, guardian and spouse of Mary, keep this family safe from harm. Help us in all times of discouragement or anxiety. Holy Family of Nazareth, make our family one with you. May we be peace-loving and peace-giving. And may we always have God as the center of our hearts and our home. Amen MASS AND RALLY FOR LIFE: The 2nd Annual Diocesan Respect Life Mass will be celebrated on January 16, 2010 at 9:00 am at the Cathedral of St. Paul. Bishop Baker will be the Main Celebrant. What would our life be like if we did not have Jesus? A mess! Christmas is about the Christ child who has made a difference in our lives. Christmas is about love, peace and family. Let us strive to be love and peace to all who may come our way this Christmas Season and the coming year of Thanks to all of you for the many wishes of Christmas Blessings, cards and gifts. May the Lord continue to be with all of us as in God s peace, blessings, and love! I close with this poem to help us remember the reason for the season. Father Vernon God Sent Us a Savior If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator. If our greatest need had been technology God would have sent us a scientist If our greatest need had been money. God would have sent us an economist. If our greatest need had been pleasure. God would have sent us an entertainer. But our greatest need was forgiveness. So God sent us a Savior. --Roy Lessin
