Our 10-week study is Nancy Guthrie s The Son of David. This study covers the books of Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, Ezra-Nehemiah, and Esther, where we will see how the heroic figures in the Old Testament were mere pointers to Jesus: the greater Savior, Redeemer, Shepherd, and King. Study books will be available in class for $8. THE STEPHEN MINISTRY RETREAT is Friday and Saturday in the Spitzer Education Building. ONE MORE VOLUNTEER IS NEEDED at the Volunteer Ministry Center next Sunday, January 10 from 4:30-5:30 to serve dinner. Contact Mark at or MLampley@sequoyahchurch.org to help the hungry. MISSION TRIP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED as we prepare for mobile medical clinics in Haiti. Ways to be involved this year include: 1) writing a devotion for one of the seven days of the trip, 2) dropping off unwanted eye glasses in front office to replenish what we take from Lion s Club, 3) counting pills Monday, January 11 anytime 12:00-6:00 p.m., January 12 th and 13 th anytime 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and January 18 th -20 th if needed. NEW EXERCISE OPPORTUNITY! Christopher Quinn is offering a Boot Camp on Saturday mornings during the winter months (January - March) from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in Barron Hall. He will modify instruction so that people of all ages may participate! The cost is $10/session. VOLUNTEER DRIVERS are needed to take seniors with disabilities to various appointments, shopping, and other activities through the CAC s Volunteer Assisted Transportation Program. Volunteers will drive agency-owned hybrid sedans or wheelchair accessible mini-vans and receive first aid and CPR training. Volunteers who are at least 21 years old, have a minimum of three years driving experience, and who have an excellent driving record are needed for weekdays, evenings, and weekends. 6 THE CHURCH & COMMUNITY LUNCHEON is on Thursday, January 14 at Noon. This month s program is Mild Cognitive Impairment led by Monica Crane. Lunch is $5 and the program is free. SAVE THE DATE: MANTREAT AT MONTREAT April 1-3 for men focusing on your personal journey of faith through prayer, workshops, and activities (golf on a par 5 course anyone?).
