Please pray he is able to meet with leaders of school groups that are operating and to maintain an ongoing connection with them. 2 August Pray for the Hamilton prayer group meeting on 5 August, and pray for Sylvia Coulter who will be there to share some current SUNZ prayer needs. 3 August We are writing up the 2016 research undertaken by SUNZ into the state of children and family ministries across New Zealand. Please pray for wisdom and insight as we analyse the data and prepare the report. 4 August The Wellington Children s Ministry Network is meeting at 1pm at the SUNZ office. Please pray as they look at setting up more Children s Ministry Network groups in Wellington and Lower Hutt. 5 August Pray Day Join others round Aotearoa, New Zealand to for pray for schools. Spend some time praying for your local schools each day this week: the Boards of Trustees, principals, teachers, support staff, students and their families, Christian staff and students living out their faith, volunteers who are involved in running Christian programmes in the school. PRAYDAY Monday 1 August 6 August The Waikato/Bay of Plenty Regional Committee will be meeting tonight in Hamilton. Pray for them as they plan for the activities for the remainder of August Please pray for the right person to manage the SUNZ Resources for Life operation and National Support Centre and give thanks for all the past hard work of Maurice Roberts. 8 August Please pray for God's leading as we prepare for the SUNZ AGM on 28 August. Pray that the people of God's choosing will be there to serve on the Board and FARC (finance group) for the year ahead. 9 August Otago/Southland Children s Ministry Network meetings are coming up in Dunedin and Invercargill on 11 and 14 August. Pray as participants explore ways to use music and song with children to worship God and learn great truths about Him. 12 August Please pray for Otago/Southland Youth Consultant Aaron Douglas preparing to preach and speak about Exodus Prime at Glenavy Community Church, South Canterbury on Sunday. 13 August Liz Eichler is running a You're Losing Us workshop in Otaki. Pray for all those who attend as they focus on how to grow a lasting faith in children and young people, and plan how to do faith formation more effectively in their church. 14 August Please pray for Southern Region Director Nigel Winder preaching at Lochiel church and encouraging fellowship from God's word. 15 August Give thanks for our finance team of Simon Rowbotham, Anitha Yadavaraj and Phuong Dang. 10 August Finance Audit and Remuneration Committee meets tomorrow. Pray for members Alastair Boult, Meredith MacKenzie, Wayne Fraser and Simon Rowbotham. 11 August Paul Dadd is telling the story at Thursday night children's church at Starship Hospital, Auckland. Please pray for this ministry, that God would continue to use it to bless children and families at Starship. Pray for more volunteers to get involved. The monthly meetings have been on a Tuesday for many years, and have now changed to the third Wednesday of the month. Please pray for more people, for Joy Whitehead who leads the group, and for Rosemary Squires who hosts. - Tuesday 16 August
3 17 August Paul Dadd is in In Greymouth to run a WAY2GO Focused children's ministry training day. Pray for good attendance and for people to get a lot out of the day. 18 August Praise God for Heather Zwies and her ten years of loyal service as Camps Administrator. Heather has managed a huge number of changes over the years and has been a rock for many volunteer camp leaders and staff. She has an incredible servant heart and has often gone beyond the call of duty in her role. 19 August Pray for those preparing for the Leader s Lab and the SUMMIT weekend at Willow Park Conference Centre in Auckland on August. Uphold Leaders Lab key speaker Clayton Fergie, and workshop leaders Warahi Paki, Brooke Turner, Hilary Hague, Neville Bartley, Annette Osborne, Andrew Ramsbottom, Nigel Winder and Richard Starling. 20 August Aaron Douglas is catering and hosting a fundraising dinner for his work with SUNZ, with guest speaker Tim Shadbolt. Please pray for a successful and enjoyable evening. 21 August Give thanks for the impact Andrew Ramsbottom s presentation on intergenerational worhship made at this year s WAY2GO conferences, and continue to pray for his children s ministry work in Auckland. Wednesday 17 August 22 August This week Annette Osborne is in Wellington with Hilary Hague and Alison Davies. They are contacting all the SUPAkidz and SURGE Clubs to ensure they are running safely and well. Please pray for these clubs and the schools they work with. 23 August Please pray for Youth Consultant Steve Adams work with storytelling events and around the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. 24 August Pray for Aaron Douglas as he mans the SUNZ table at The Abbey conference for Anglican youth leaders, and also runs the workshop on transitioning young people from intermediate to high school youth ministry. 25 August Please pray for venue preparations and practical arrangements for the SUMMIT weekend, and safe travel for all those attending. 26 August The last meeting for the current SUNZ Board is at 3pm today. Thank God for the long hours that board chair Maureen Gunston and members Alastair Boult, Meredith MacKenzie, Ruth Vercoe and Kim Shaw give to ensure governance is handled well. PAGE 3 27 August Please pray for today's Leaders Lab leadership development conference and for good networking and fellowship with SUNZ volunteers & supporters at the SUMMIT celebration dinner tonight. 28 August SUNZ AGM is being held this morning. Thank God for all His provision through people, prayer and finance over this past year. Praise God for so many faithful supporters! Pray for safe travel home for those who have attended the SUMMIT weekend. 29 August Praise God and rejoice with former Nelson Youth consultant Rebekah Smith that her annual scan shows the MS has been stopped. 30 August Please pray for funds for the appointment of a new Canterbury/Top of the South youth consultant. 31 August Give thanks for the 'You re Losing Us Workshop' that Aaron and Nigel ran with Te Anau churches last month. Pray the flow-on strategic discussions will lead to a deepening of faith for the children and young people connected to these churches. - Wednesday 31 August
4 1 r Give thanks for South Island Camps Facilitator Ben Necklen and his excellent work on new audit processes for our adventure activities. Please pray that there will be an appointment to the position of the North Island Camps Facilitator: for the person called of God to be appointed with the financial support required. 2 r Tonight and tomorrow two Youthserve community projects are running in Dunedin and Invercargill. Pray for Aaron Douglas co-ordinating both and running the Invercargill programme, and for Brad Kelderman running the Dunedin programme. 3 r Pray that good connections with key Maori influencers can be made as National Director Wayne Fraser plans towards a special position on the SUNZ staff and leads the team in exploring our bicultural relationships. 4 r Give thanks for our administration team: Glenis in Auckland; Debbie in Waikato; Alison, Janet and Hope in Wellington; Kelly in Christchurch; Heather and Bronwyn in Invercargill. 5 r Pray for the Children and Families Team at a Carey Baptist College block course on children s ministry from 5-9 August. Pray for beneficial networking opportunities with other leaders from around the country, that their time will be inspirational and refreshing, and that they will hear God s voice. Thursday 1 r 6 r Give thanks for SUPAkidz and SURGE clubs around the country and for all the volunteer leaders. Please pray for encouragement, wisdom and sensitivity as they operate in the delicate school environment. 7 r Please pray for the successful distribution of the Te Tia Bible Reading Guide into Cook Island Maori churches in the Cook Islands, Australia and New Zealand. 8 r Give thanks for those who have so generously responded to the latest round of staff support appeal letters that have gone out. 9 r Pray for the Otago/Southland SUPAkidz and youth camp leaders who are gathering this weekend in Wanaka for training. Praise God that SUNZ is able to offer these weekends for free as a way of investing in our volunteer leaders and showing our appreciation for them. Pray for Nigel Winder, Aaron Douglas and Ben Necklen as they facilitate the training. 10 r Please pray for early registrations for spring camps and for the two E3 Adventure journeys in December. Please pray also for the camp directors planning their programmes, and that all positions for team members and cooks will be filled in good time. PAGE 4 11 r Please pray for the new youth resources site, that school groups will be able to register on the site and receive resources to help them reach out to their schools. 12 r Give thanks for the young people involved in Youthserve local mission projects over the last school holidays. Please pray for Auckland Youth Consultant Andy Banks as he develops an all-age version of Youthserve and balances his SUNZ and church roles. 13 r Annette Osborne, Paul Dadd and Hilary Hague travel to Nelson, Blenheim and Greymouth. Please pray as they run a series of children s ministry training events with Anglican churches. 14 r Thank God for our Advisory Group and the wisdom they bring when we seek their support. 15 r Please pray for Relationships Manager Paul Martell as he manages fundraising and looks for new ways to build SUNZ income. 16 r Give thanks for the Otago Regional Committee and their willingness to fundraise through catering, support staff, pray, promote events, manage a local resource library and offer outstanding southern hospitality. - Friday 16 r
5 17 r Please pray for Scripture Union in the Pacific and for Pacific Coordinator Sam Emery. Praise God that SU Tonga is now present in every secondary school in Nuku alofa and pray for the successful spread of their ministry into the outer islands. 18 r Give thanks for Richard Starling and the Stay Real and Crossroads teams working with at-risk youth in Christchurch. Please pray for the young people they work with and their whanau; for the Stay Real programmes at Aranui High, Mairehau High, Shirley Intermediate and Chisnallwood Intermediate. Pray too for protection of the carving studio and other facilities. 19 r Please pray for the children s ministry research booklets as they are mailed out across New Zealand this week. Pray for the people who receive them, and pray that as they read them, God will use the information to strengthen their ministries and grow His kingdom. 20 r Give thanks for the marketing team of Jamuel Enriquez, Paul Martell and Janice Hunt. 21 r Please pray for TSCF and their on-campus work with tertiary students, and for the building relationship between TSCF and SUNZ. Saturday 17 r 22 r As school holidays approach, please pray for refreshment for SUPAkidz club leaders and for their plans for term four programmes. 27 r Pray for Southland SUPAkidz Camp Mega Makers, that the children and leaders will all experience God this week and be drawn closer to Him. Pray for sustaining for Nigel Winder as he leads this camp. 28 r Thank God for the families of staff members and their support. Pray that those who face personal challenges or illness within the family feel supported through these times. 23 r Leadership Training for the Southland SUPAkidz Camp starts today. Please pray that the time will be useful for the leaders and that they will have a sense of God working in them and through them as they prepare for the camp. 29 r Please pray for Aaron Douglas preparing to run Queenstown Spring Capers camp from 3-8 October and two Transitions evenings on October 14 & 15 for Year 13 students preparing for life after school. 24 r Mountain Adventure camp at SU Adventure Lodge is running from tomorrow till 1 October. Please pray for good snow, safety on Mt Ruapehu and for God s message to impact the campers. 25 r Pray for Aaron Douglas preaching at Wyndham Presbyterian Church and for the assembling of the Southland SUPAkidz Camp leaders as they set up and prepare for camp starting tomorrow and running till 29 r. 26 r Ponui Xtreme youth camp begins today and runs till 1 October. Pray for safety, fun, and that campers will discover and draw near to God in a new way.
