Yet, some of the best things that happen in the life of a church occur by responding to the opportunities and needs that just appear on their own. There is a place for strategy and there is also a place for opening the sails and letting the wind direct. Knowing the potential and limits of both is key in the life of a church. Metropolitan Multi-Ethnic Church Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC Dr. Clifford Jones Room # Panel Discussion of Churches Practicing Hopeful Imagination (See five churches listed above.) Room # Medium Multi-Site Rural The multi-site congregation model: will it work any where? Multi-site is a relatively new model for reaching the unchurched culture. Why is the multi-site model working in so many places in the U.S.? Is a multi-site church feasible in a rural setting? Do multi-site churches always have to be mega churches? How can an off-campus worship service be used to reach people who will not come to a steeple? What is the leadership model for the multisite congregation? Mission Baptist Church, Locust, NC Dr. Ronny Russell Room 4:00 4:15 BREAK

Even though it 3)what is the full missional potential of your congregation Will Your Congregation Still Exist 10 Years from Now? Reinventing Yourself as Pastor/Staff Discerning the Movement of the Holy Spirit in Your Church? Is Worship a Barrier or Bridge to Your Church Growth? Curious Conversations for God s Unique People God always goes ahead of us whenever he is leading us. This session is for those who want to plan next steps for your congregation s future by discovering the ways God s Spirit has already been at work among you and connecting the dots of those experiences and learnings to discern where God may be trying to take you. God calls congregations to be passionate about mission and ministry. Nevertheless, God s people don t always agree when trying to discern that call. This workshop will present principles and models to help congregations have constructive conversations that are honest, but loving and respectful. Utilizing these methods can help congregations Al Cadenhead/Staff Providence Baptist, Charlotte, NC Jayne Davis, Min. 4 Impact or Irrelevance? When Change is Needed But Not Wanted When the Church is the Church for the Community The Creativity of Leadership behave in ways that model healthy Christian community to a world that often seems only to know how to argue and fight. Which describes your future? The line between maintenance and missional ministry for an established congregation is a fine one. What can leaders do to lean into the future with hope? Learn 4 essential practices your congregation must engage in if you are to impact your tomorrow proactively. How to move forward without having to move out of your church. Building deep ownership of new directions, from established members and newcomers. The church is not the church until their neighbors see and experience God's love and grace coming through the church. This perception does not happen when a congregation is a private club or in a one-time event the motive of which is to make themselves feel good about themselves. It comes through authentic caring and relationships with persons in the community. This seminar/workshop explores the biblical mandate for lifestyle compassion ministry and offers a model for its development in any church in Inasmuch Life. Before Angry Birds filled one s Facebook in the 140 characters of the Twitterscape, creativity and improvisational activity were more than digitized illustrations. Today more than ever, leaders must be creative, thinking on their feet and going with their gut. This workshop will examine ways to work with improve, ignore the voice of judgment and to lead on bravely and creatively. Bill Wilson, Pres. Center for Congregational Health, NC Eddie Hammett, Author, The Columbia Partnership David Crocker, Founder Operation In As Much Bo Prosser, National Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, GA
5 Congregational Governance and Leadership for Impacting Tomorrow Many congregations develop plans, dreams and good ideas for reaching their communities and making a difference in the lives of members and prospects, but governance and organizational structures often handicap, paralyze or sabotage their efforts to implement these ideas. What adjustments need to be made to deacon bodies, committees, councils, teams and business meetings to facilitate healthy mission and ministry? This workshop will explore the principles and practices of congregational governance, leadership and organizational structures that will foster forward movement.
