2 Welcome to Mercy International Centre Welcome to Catherine's House, the first house of Mercy built by Catherine McAuley in response to the needs of the poor of Dublin. It is home to the Mercy family from all over the world. Catherine's House is a Centre of Hospitality, Heritage, Pilgrimage and Renewal. It is a Wellspring of inspiration for those who come to continue Catherine's mission with new life.

3 Conference Facilities Located in the heart of the city, and well served by public transport, Mercy International Centre is an ideal venue in which to hold conferences, training programmes, seminars, workshops and meetings of all kinds. The Centre can cater for a variety of sizes of groups and all rooms have high speed internet access, data projectors, screens and flip charts. The larger rooms have a sound system facility. The buildings have lifts and are wheelchair accessible. Morning and afternoon teas can be provided. A full meal or lunch can also be provided or can be ordered from nearby suppliers. To check date availability and prices visit or bookings@mercyinternational.ie Tours of Mercy International Centre Tours are available by appointment at a.m. Monday to Friday. A tour takes approximately two hours and includes tea and scones. Cost is 5 per person. To book a tour bookings@mercyinternational.ie Self-Catering Area A self-catering area with two single bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchenette, sitting room, wireless internet, washing machine/dryer, iron/ironing board and car park is available. 3 nights - 1 person 225, 2 people 375; 4 nights - 1 person 300, 2 people 500; 5 nights - 1 person 375, 2 people 625; 6 nights - 1 person 450, 2 people 750; 7 nights - 1 person 525, 2 people 875. B & B Mercy International Centre offers bed & breakfast facilities to Sisters of Mercy, Associates, co-workers and family and friends of Mercy. Single rooms and double/twin rooms are available. Bathroom facilities are shared. Kitchenette and sitting rooms with TV are available for guests with coffee, tea & biscuits available all day. Breakfast is served in the dining room on the lower ground floor at 8.30 daily. Our beautiful chapel and garden cemetery are available for all and internet access and laundry facilities are provided for guests. Cost: 50 (single); 70 (double/twin). There is a 20% discount for priests and religious ( 40 for single; 56 for twin).

4 2013 Programmes Watering the Roots at the Wellspring of Mercy Sunday, 2 June Saturday, 29 June Mercy International Association is offering a month-long renewal programme for a third year. The programme is designed for vowed Mercy women seeking renewal and refreshment. It offers the opportunity to take time out in an atmosphere of warmth, hospitality and internationality in order to discern more clearly the invitation of the Spirit in how to live out the mission of Mercy in our church and world. Spiritual Guide and facilitator is Dervilla Byrne rsm. Weekly themes explored are: 1. Religious Life: A Deep-down Impulse to Care and Make Creation Whole (2-7 June) by Marie Chin rsm: Human beings make sense of their lives by telling stories. We will explore religious life in light of the current global reality of our unfolding contemporary story. All over the world there are women and men who, touched by their encounter with God, yearn to respond to a deep-down impulse, a call, to find the intersection between an old and new story. This call impels them to live fully in this place of intersection in order to recover the meeting place of their own deep impulse to care and the world s deep hunger. Religious life searches for and finds God in these dangerous meeting places and has the possibility of telling a profoundly new story. Religious vows can be experienced as the elegant choices we make daily for the sacred task of doing the transformative work necessary to bring healing and wholeness to our world. 2. The Liberating Face of God s Mercy in Luke-Acts (9-14 June) by Veronica Lawson rsm: The Lukan narrative, with its emphasis on mercy and compassion, has a particular resonance for us as Sisters of Mercy who have committed ourselves to a mercy way of life in an Earth community being shattered by displacement. During this week, we will reflect on the contemporary experience of displacement and bring that experience into dialogue with Lukan stories of mercy, compassion, justice and liberation against the backdrop of the Hebrew Bible. 3. Contemplating Catherine...Nourishing the Soul (16-21 June) by Madeline Duckett rsm: How do we sense another s soul and what moves her to do what she does? Perhaps it can be known in some small way when something of another s life, vision, motivation and legacy stir us deeply. In this week we will explore and contemplate together aspects of Catherine s life, vision and the legacy she left. We will seek to sense the soul of Catherine within the facts of her story. In this we may know again the deeper roots of our own Mercy hearts. We will draw upon imagination, creativity, lived prayer and experience to plunge deeply into the Wellspring of Mercy and be nourished at the source. 4. Touched by the Holy: Contemplation, Gratitude, and Compassion (23-28 June) by Janet Ruffing rsm: Participants will explore the deep roots of mercy spirituality in the interpenetration of contemplation and action in our lives as women in the church today. We will explore the mystical roots of compassion with guidance from Julian of Norwich and Meister Eckhart, the healing of the soul wounds inflicted on the feminine through Teresa of Avila, and the relationship between non-violence and compassion in Catherine McAuley and Julian of Norwich. Finally, we will ponder the mystery of "joys and sorrows mingled" as we embrace the prophetic dimensions of our service to church and world. The weekly gatherings will examine different situations of injustice, the socio-economic situation in which it is found and various Mercy responses. It will use a theological reflection process which will draw inspiration from scripture and Mercy spirituality and invite participants to explore how they are being called to respond in light of the communal reflection. Donations to Mercy Global Action will be received gratefully. No booking necessary. All are welcome. These Mercy pilgrims will undertake their journey in the light of the story of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy. Through presentation, discussion, reflection and prayer, pilgrims will engage the history and charism of Mercy, returning to ordinary life better equipped to be Mercy leaders in their schools and world. Price: 250 (non-residential only) Come Home to Catherine Sunday, 28 July Saturday, 3 August Facilitated by Anne Reid and Áine Barrins rsm This programme is an experience of being with Catherine at home in Baggot Street. It offers an opportunity to pray with Catherine in her places and spaces, and to walk in her footsteps through the city of Dublin reflecting on her life and ministry. There will be input and time to reflect on and reconnect with Catherine, the tender woman of mercy who continues to inspire and journey with us towards God. Price: 520 (residential only) Catherine McAuley - An Inspiration and a Challenge Sunday, 11 August Saturday, 17 August, Facilitated by Brenda Dolphin rsm During these days we will spend time with Catherine McAuley in prayer, reflection and pilgrimage, open to being inspired and challenged anew in our Mercy living by this remarkable woman who continues to touch the hearts and minds of all who come to know her. Sullivan rsm Catherine McAuley still has much, by word and example, to teach us, especially today as we recommit ourselves to a renewal of our communal lives and ministries. Catherine took Jesus' invitation, "Follow me," very seriously. What she tried to be and do as she strove to "resemble Jesus Christ in some one thing at least" speaks to the heart of our Mercy lives. Her example, values, instructions, actions and sufferings offer us encouragement and motivation for our own conversions, and will be the content we will explore together during our week of retreat. Several Dublin Buses, including the 37, 38, 38a, 38b, 39, 39a, and 70, stop directly in front of the house at the intersection of Lower Baggot Street and Herbert Street. From the airport, transport options include: (1) Dublin Bus 747 to O Connell and Abbey Streets (Cost: 6.*) Transfer to Dublin Bus 38 or 38a.
