2 From your Pastor: Finally, May has arrived! As we begin our warm-up for summer with spring activities, school winding down, graduations and all the rest, it is good to remember the new life we enjoy from the renewal of nature is more than just an emancipation from vile weather. There is a spiritual reality at work as well that our faith perceives. Yes, the Earth has been renewed, and we know it in the green grass, the birds chirping and by the fact we can actually smell outdoor things now. We may feel physically rejuvenated as well but the joy of Spring is also one that is experienced in the soul. This is due to Easter grace. Freed from cold weather, indoor activity and rigors of Lent, we are unbound. Let s make sure to use this freedom well in body and soul. The exercise program for our soul has at its core (pun intended) the same four pillars we have been banging on for months: Unity, the Good, the True and that which is Beautiful. These Four Transcendentals and the exercise of them is what will shape us best in the likeness of God. These are capacities God endowed our souls to adhere to, and precisely where the grace of Christ seeks to dwell. Our lives of holiness and virtue begin and end through these qualities, and it is these that will make us most happy. We practice for heaven in the here and now. As move closer to summer, one item of business that is important for our parish and the diocese as well, is our attention to the Catholic Family Sharing Appeal (CFSA). Our identity as the Faithful is rooted in our commitment to the faith on a personal, community and universal level. The yearly CFSA campaign is vital to the diocesan programs we use as a parish as well as the various needs of the Church world-wide. Please remember your pledges, both those already made and the ones which have not been submitted yet. Our participation in parish offerings and activities always must go hand-in-hand with those of the diocese, as they are two parts of the greater whole we call The Church. We are a local and global People of God, and we are free to do it because we can by the grace of God. Fr. Fitzpatrick LIVE THE LITURGY Inspiration for the week... "Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love." So many people hunger for love. All of us desire to be intimately connected with others, God, and our world. Many things can work against this and cause us to feel alienated and even profoundly sad. Pope Francis tells us that our "infinite sadness can only be cured by an infinite love." We have been touched by God's love. We are called to bring that love to others so that their sadness and wounds can be healed. We must do this even for those we do not particularly like or who have hurt us. We cannot let anything stand in the way of love.

3 Parish News & Activities Sometimes our actions speak for themselves; other times, words are needed. Whatever the situation, Jesus knows how to speak to each person's heart; we simply need to follow where He leads. USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities How to Build a Culture of Life, Baptisms We welcome James Thomas and Connor Michael Rempp, sons of Joe & Pam, who were baptized on April 28th. Birthdays Happy Birthday to Barbara Stevens who will be 76 on May 8. Coffee and Rolls Coffee and Rolls will be served on Sunday, May 13. On the schedule to serve are Ryan & Brandi Marso and family. Rolls are picked up at Casey s in Tea and juice is picked up at Sunshine. Thank you to all who volunteer for this ministry! More information can be found at TEA AREA FOOD PANTRY Open M-F, 9 AM - 3 PM, Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea. May items needed are canned meats (tuna, chicken, ham, etc), spaghetti noodles and sauce. Items can be dropped off at the Food Pantry or at St. Nicholas. Box is located in the church entry. St. Nicholas Men s Prayer Meeting Thursday, May 10, 7:00 PM at St. Nicholas Church. All men of the parish are welcome. St. Nicholas will serve lunch at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House Monday, May 21st Three or four volunteers are needed to help serve the meal at 11:20 AM. Donations of the following items are needed: CANS OF CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP; Oreo or similar type cookies; cans of Hormel chili with beans; and fruit or applesauce cups. A six week program held every Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM. Presented by Dr. Marcie Moran, this is a program for adults who have lost a loved one from the tragic and senseless crime of a murder. This year marks the 22nd Annual Bishop's Fishing Tournament at Big Stone Lake and for the first time ever Pierre. Your participation in these fishing tournaments helps support the funding of seminarian education in our diocese.
