JOHN S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH A Stephen Ministry Church 104 Newberry Street, NW Aiken, SC Debt Free and Dedica on In 2013, St. John s had a vision of how we could be a more welcoming church and facilitate our mission to make disciples for Jesus Christ for the be erment of the world. This vision, and that of those who came before us are making it happen. Over the past four years, we have made improvements to our facili es beginning with the plans in our 2013 Capital Campaign. The Capital Campaign goals included: Sanctuary $703,300 Faith Center $2.4 million Playground $43,880 Courtyard $12,180 Buses $69,700 Jesus Teaches About Rewards Luke 6:17-26 Jesus blesses people who have faith. GROVE (5K-5th graders) Wednesday: Alleluia Choir 4 pm; Joy Choir 4:15 pm New Property Purchase (SCE&G): $350,000 During the same me we have completed repairs and upgrades beyond the Capital Campaign. New HVAC Church/Preschool Security Doors Fire Panel Upgrade New Kindergarten Pain ng & Furniture Chapel AV New Floor in Faith Center New Floor in Ward Hall Totaling $397,000 During the past four years we have con nued to be faithful in our support of missions. Faith Promise $618,000 Children of Pastors in Congo $50,000 Appor onments $935,800 Grand Total of all purchases, improvements, and missions: $5.6 million Your ongoing gi s support all the ministries of the church that happen here yearround. On January 27, the Church Council voted to pay off ALL of our indebtedness. Now we can dedicate everything done since these projects began. In the United Methodist Church we don t dedicate or re dedicate buildings un l they are debt free. We will burn one third of the mortgage at each of our three services next Sunday, and dedicate it all to the glory of God! In loving memory of Monty and Emmie Montgomery, the church council has set aside funds to assist with mission trip travel. 3 Lend A Hand If you are a senior or mobility impaired member of St. John s, the new ministry Lend A Hand may be able to help you with minor maintenance & repair tasks around your home. Since star ng in May, three families have been helped in several ways including hanging pictures, moving furniture and changing light bulbs. If you need some assistance, please call the church and a representa ve of the ministry will call you to discuss your needs. The UMW presented Applefest funds to Christ Central, the St. John s SEED program, and Community Care & Counseling of Aiken last Sunday at the 11:00 service. Each recipient received a check for $13, The SEED program s Valentine Art show is up in the hallway on the first floor of the Education Building. Please take some time today, Feb. 10, to see what the classes have been doing!. Ministry Meals is looking for volunteers interested in delivering Wednesday Night Supper meals on Wednesday afternoons.
