Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan s Purse On Sunday afternoon, November 4th, the St. John s family will unite as a community to learn more about Operation Christmas Child: What a wonderful opportunity to participate and have an impact on so many lives. We will see how a shoebox is packed, hear stories from shoebox recipients and discover how they make their journey around the world. GROVE Sunday at 6 pm (5k-5th) Wednesday Choir Alleluia Choir 4 pm (grades 2nd-5th) Joy Choir 4:15 pm (grades 3k-1st) We have placed donation trees around the church with suggestion tags attached. These donations will be used to fill the shoeboxes. We are also accepting monetary donations to cover the $9 shipping cost of each shoebox as well as the shoebox supplies. The Packing Party is meant to be a night of learning, fellowship and mission. We will be packing shoeboxes, participating in activities, eating pizza and then we will end the night praying together over the shoeboxes. We hope you ll join us in this very special evening! Coming: November 11, 2018 St. John's is joining other area churches in hosting the 6th annual Churches United Fall Harvest on Oct. 27 from 12-3 Salvation Army Church on Gayle Street At the St. John's booth, we will be giving away clean, used coats and jackets (all sizes), homemade cookies, and Joseph's Coat handmade items. We will also be sharing our church ministries: Grace Kitchen and Jack Meeks Ramp Ministry. Please donate all sizes of clean coats or jackets (look for clothing racks in the narthex). 3 Applefest News Twice Loved Treasures will be receiving your items in the gym beginning Monday, Oct. 29 through Friday Nov. 2 un l 2:00pm. We are happy to receive household items, toys, spor ng equipment, and tools. We can NOT except TV s or computers. Help will be needed all week to help set up items in the gym and to work the day of Applefest. If anyone is interested in helping with Twice Loved Treasures please contact Marsha Mikes Second Hand Rose dona ons will be accepted beginning October 29, at 4 PM. There will be dona on mes every day the week of Oct. 29 Nov. 2. Start preparing your items for dona on by laundering, folding, or hanging each item. BATTLE OF THE SAINTS We need 7 golfers to compete in the Ba le of the Saints Golf ou ng on Nov. 7 at Houndslake Country Club. We will compete against St. Paul's, St. Mary's and St. Thaddeus. The tee me is 12:30 followed by a buffet dinner. The cost is $30 for golf and $15.95 for dinner. All golfers interested please contact Bill Bourbeau at or bbour1@msn.com. Teams must be finalized and fees paid by Oct 20th. The format will be 8 foursomes consis ng of 1 golfer from each church in each foursome.
