Lead pastor s column: It s spring! It was the first day of spring. And there was still snow on the ground. ;( Life is like that, you know. So often we stand on the brink of possibility and growth, hope and new life. All around us are the memories of the past, of what was. Ultimately they will melt and give way to what will come. In Lent, we hold on to the hope and expectation of spring. We know with God and his forgiveness that new life is possible for us. It s just under the surface waiting to spring forth. It cannot be contained. The cold of winter gives way to the warmth of spring. Death and new life. We can count on it. Who knows what tomorrow will bring to us. The details may not be clear. But know that, just below the surface, God is doing something great in your and my life. New life emerges. We are set free to live and grow in the Son and the warmth he provides. When death took its toll on his body and darkness covered the earth, God raised him and brought life and immortality to light. (1 Timothy 1.10) So we hold on to hope and ask God to bless our lives. We give thanks It was the first day of spring. And there was still snow for Jesus and join together with the people of God to remember his life, death, and resurrection. We open ourselves to the new life God promises. Spring is here! The Rev. Dr. Jack Horner
