3 At the last School Assembly.. Wendy from Project energize spoke about and introduced Home Play Challenge. Some information is below and your child will also have information about the challenge ask your child about it Have you checked out our website lately? There is a new link from the front page to the school calendar. Follow this link and you will find the most up to date google calendar which is updated as events come to light. Winter chills sickness.. Like most schools in New Zealand, our absentee rates are raised at the moment as there seems to be quite a bit of winter flu and tummy bugs about. Please keep your child at home if they are unwell and talk to your child about the normal precautions to stop the spread ie washing hands regularly, keeping warm and covering the nose when sneezing or coughing. A quick check on the MOH s website indicates that nationwide rates for flu are up but are still below the rates presentation rates for this time last year. Follow the link to: PTA NEWS Michael Mangan Concert A concert by Michael Mangan will be held on Tuesday 10 August, 2010, from 11.15am to 12.25pm in St Patrick s Catholic Church. The cost will be $2.50 per child with a maximum of $5.00 per family. This is part of exposing the children at St Patrick s to different types of music and performers. Michael Mangan is a contemporary Catholic composer and music liturgist. He has worked as a Specialist Music Teacher in Catholic schools and parishes for 15 years and has been involved in parish music ministry since he was in high school. Michael s 140 songs, psalms and acclamations are widely used in schools and parishes throughout New Zealand. The concert is also open to parishioners, friends and family for a gold coin donation. See letter as part of newsletter School Cross country By now you should all have received a flyer regarding the fundraiser for the cross country. Tomorrow the people who are running the fundraiser will be talking to all the students. Your children will then bring home a form to get sponsorship for running the cross country. Please support them as the more they get sponsored, the greater the prize for them. The school will receive 50% of the amount raised. Balloons over Waikato This is a wonderful annual event and we have the opportunity to have a balloon visit our school in April For this to happen, we will be selling raffle tickets for Balloons over Waikato. The tickets sell for $2 each and our school will receive $1 for each ticket sold. In early September a raffle book (20 tickets) will come home with your eldest child there will be only one book per family. If you are able to sell the tickets, great. If you are not able to sell them, please return them to school as soon as possible.

The event offers a unique opportunity for kids between 5-18 years old to enjoy the achievable challenge of taking part in the Greenfingers Kids Marathon. Entries close 6th September 2010 Where: Start/Finish at Flagstaff Park Commodore Ave Hamilton. Start time 11.30am Distance: 2.195kms Course: 2 laps in Flagstaff Park Eligibility: All school age children are encouraged to participate. The maximum age is 18. Entry:Change entries close date to 6th September Enter Online: Enter online at Bodywise Programme.District Health Board & Sport Waikato initiative. (For managing weight issues in children 5-12yrs) Bodywise is a family based Programme held in Hamilton aimed at managing weight issues in children of primary school age. Our next age group, starting end of July is for children 8-9 years.groups run for 6 weeks, meeting twice weekly, then support offered to children and their famlies for 12 months.
