We are looking for volunteers to come and work at the school any day between 10:40 12:15p.m. We are hoping to tap into members of our community who do not necessarily have children amending our school(although we would love parents as well). Can you please help to spread the word. If you know anyone who is interested, please ask him/ her to contact the school. Parent Teacher Interviews: Have you booked your interview time. Mid Winter Swim:- The mid winter swim will be next Friday 29 th June at 11:45. PLEASE REMEMBER if your child wants to swim, he/she needed a signed permission slip. No signed slip, no swim. Slip to sign is at the back of the newsletter Year 5 and 6 Camp Fundraiser We have made over $900 for our camp. If you have any scrap metal or know anyone who has some they want to get rid, please donate it to the school. You can drop it off at ASM Recycling, or if you have a load which needs picking up, you can either ring Ben Sheppard or Kimblerly Sinclair Talent Quest Finals This Friday the 22nd at 1pm. You are welcome to come and celebrate Maungaturoto Primary's talent. To this end a rule has been introduced (in line with other sections) that: All chickens must be born after July 1, Order forms for those who would like to buy three week old brown shaver hen chicks are in this newsletter at the back please fill in and return your order no later than 25 th June. Date For Pet Day and Flower Show Friday 19 th October Due to the threat of Mycoplasma bovis we will not be having any calves at our Pet Day and Flower Show this year. To ensure participation for all children we will be slightly changing the organisation. Timetable of the day will be as follows: 8:45 11 o clock. All children will participate in preparing flower show exhibitions. 11 o clock 11:15a.m. Morning Tea. 11:15 12:30 Children with Lambs / Chickens / Goats will go to their animals for judging. These animals will be split into smaller groups so judging is faster. All place getters, apart from champions, will be acknowledged in the ring. All other children will be with their class teachers until lunchtime. 12:30p.m Lunchtime /activities. 1:30p.m. Prizegiving of cups. Every child will be invited to do a Photo Pet Project. These can be of any pet, and the pet does not have to come to Pet Day. These projects will be displayed in the MPR. Grandma s Lounge ROOM 1 SPOTLIGHT CLASS Hook into Writing Introductions I love going to my Grandparents house. Playing games, snuggling with Sophie ( their cat) and eating delicious food from the oven. By Lauren The Ocean The soothing water covers my body, completely trapping me in its arms. It relaxes me, showing me things I have never seen before. New Caledonia is such an amazing place. At 2pm, the sun sheds light underneath the water, whilst heating the vast ocean. By Oscar Taupo It s 8am, I m staring at the crystal, blue sky as I grieve in silence. The Tiki watches over me. Rushing water fills my ears. Chattering voices overwhelm my thinking. I watch the birds sing their song and fly around the Tiki. I am at peace. By Sarah My Happy Place My happy place has an amazing set and some brilliant sights. 4 Mid Winter Swim! WHERE: MAUNGATUROTO SCHOOL POOL WHEN: Friday the 29 th of June 12pm HOW BRAVE ARE YOU? We are having a Mid Winter Swim for the whole school. This is a fundraising event for the year 5/6 camp in You will need: Togs and a towel (you don t need a bathing cap) A gold coin donation and a PERMISSION slip 3illed out by a parent to get through the gate. ( bring this slip on the day-no SLIP NO ENTRY!) ENJOY!!!!! On sale will be American hot dogs $3 Milo 50c a cup.has permission to participate in the Mid Winter Swim. (parent signature)..
