You can sign up to bring flowers on almost any Sunday to celebrate or memorialize a special date or event, or just because it's Sunday. The sign-up sheet is located in the Social Hall. Write your name next to your preferred date and, if you wish, include a special note for the bulletin. HOME GROUPS Mondays at 6:30pm, and Tuesdays at 3:30pm The Tuesday afternoon group is studying the overlooked, insightful and delightful letter to the Hebrews. PEOPLE S KITCHEN Thursday, Oct 25, 12 noon Prado Day Center, SLO - Carole Harden will be in the Social Hall after church to explain more about People s Kitchen and how Trinity is involved in feeding the homeless of SLO County. CRAZY SONG FESTIVAL Sunday, Nov 4, 3:00pm Come out and enjoy this fun afternoon event presented by Trinity UMC. Original songs, a world championship carrot peeling contest, and a melodrama written by Mike Eggleston are among the entertainment. A free will offering will be accepted at the door. CENTRAL COAST LAY SERVANT COURSES Saturday, Nov 10 & 17, 9:00am-3:00pm SLO UMC Two courses are offered: Lay Servant Basic Course and Leading in Lay Pastoral Care. You must attend BOTH Saturdays. The cost is $45 for the book and lunch both days. Registration forms are available in the church office. Deadline to register is Nov 2. ALL CHURCH CLEANING DAY Saturday, Nov 17 Believe it or not, it s that time of year again! Join the Trustees in the Sanctuary for a couple of hours of cleaning and polishing just in time for the holidays. A cleaning day for the Social Hall and Kitchen is scheduled for December 8. 5 A LITURGY OF A TO Z AT TRINITY FROM 93 TO 2000 ACOLYTE studies met weekly. Thanks, Ed Womack. Acolytes helped give children s message. *BUILDING projects added the social hall, offices, upstairs, restrooms, expanded sanctuary and a northmost classroom. Thanks, Crizer Construction and Shong and Sons Construction, contractors; and Chris Isler, builder. CONFIRMATION classes met over many weeks and took an annual mission trip. Two DOZEN new members on average joined each year, 164 in all. (Although none of them were average.) *EARLY morning men s study met at 6:00 a.m. every Tuesday, with some fascinating studies. *FUND-RAISING was everywhere. 6 years of capital funds drives paid for the new construction. GUEST musicians included the Mozart Festival, Silly Song Festival, and much more. Plus, great music blessed every Sunday morning worship. HOMELESS shelter meals for Prado were prepared, and Trinity s food closet kept stocked. *An INVESTMENT Club was tried. (The recession a few years later was probably not our doing.) *A JOB fair with adults sharing their professions with youth, was eye-opening. KNITTED items galore were found at the UMW Holiday Bazaar. *LENTEN and Advent evening worships were held weekly, often with drama and art. * MUSIC MATTERS taught music to VCC children and others. Thanks, Marian Kaser and Kim Rosen. NEW member classes each had seven sessions, with closing dinners with church officers. Thanks, Rev. Ed. OUTSIDE groups from the community regularly used our facilities, including AA, Literacy Training, scouts galore, and many more. *PROPERTY just to our west was purchased, 1¾ acres with house. This cost us 13 years of paying the mortgage, but helps fund Trinity now. We still own ¾ of an acre. How to best use it? QUILTERS, heritage quilters, knitters and sewers made beautiful handiwork. *ROAD clean-up of Turri Road began, especially with our youth. Thanks, Sandy Green. *SIGNBOARD out front was donated by Mary Boardman who also welcomed everyone to worship. TRINITY Love and Care included visitors and callers. Thanks to Jan Carpenter, Marie Shutz, Deborah Whitson, Alice Ogle, and so many others. *UNUSUAL sightings of Biblical characters were reported during worships. *VILLAGE Children s Center was led faithfully by fine teachers and director Janet Neilsen. WORSHIPS were held on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas Eves. Thank you, Rev. Ed. XPECTATIONS of all members were adapted and recommended, including regular worship attendance, giving, prayer and participation in at least one serving group. YOUTH Groups for Middle School and Senior High, and Sunday classes for each, met weekly. ZIP lines were never here. Nor zebras yet at Blessings of the Animals. But zillions of other gatherings were here, including adult classes each Sunday morning, family campouts, guest adult enrichment speakers with Mike Rosen, Halloween Haunted Hoot, Round Robin Dinners, Tuesday Crew, annual Vision Days, Walkathons for Hunger, and zo much more.
