Dear Brothers and Sisters, Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27 (Please read 1 Cor 12:12-27.) Paul is telling Christ followers that yes, they are each unique, wonderfully made by God, with special gifts and qualities. As Christians, each has an important part to play in the work that the church does to participate with God in building and refining the Kingdom on earth. And so it is with us here at St. Paul-- we learn and grow as individuals, and we discover gifts within ourselves and in others that can only be put to use in the living, growing organism we call church. We are walking through difficult times in the world, but nothing brings people together like hard times-- and coming together around Jesus Christ our Savior. 2 HURRICANE RELIEF UPDATE-- "Currently, at the Church of the Promise (Louisville), there are over 1100 flood buckets and over 700 health kits. Please convey to your districts how very thankful that I am to be part of their efforts and how good those efforts are. We should be moving the buckets to a semi sometime next week for shipment to one of the UMCOR warehouses. As I write this, I'm not sure which warehouse, Illinois or North Carolina. Blue Line Transportation from Danville has graciously donated a truck, a driver, and fuel to move the supplies." ~ Jim Morse, KY Conference Disaster Relief St Paul UMC-- Hygiene Kits will be assembled Oct 8 and sent on to UMCOR. You may donate $ to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) through our church or online. During our joint worship/ picnic/ service event with Hope Lutheran Church on Sept 10 we assembled 53 Red Cross kits, and received a thank you note from Red Cross. Power Zone Sunday, October 8 - from 4 to 5:30 pm, >>>All children and youth needed to help pack the Hygiene Kits to go to disaster relief areas. Let's do our part to help!! We will have a snack supper. The St. Paul United Methodist Women will meet Sat., Oct. 21 at 10:00 for brunch and program. Marti Booth will be presenting a program on her visit to Greece this past summer. Please come and support Marti. Bring small plastic children size cups and children's scissors to be taken to the Conference Meeting at the end of Oct. These are donations for the Portland Center in the Heartland District where the Conference Meeting will be held Memorial Church in Elizabethtown. Charge Conference 2017: Monday, November 6 Churches in Franklin & Anderson St Paul UMC, 7:00 pm St Paul Ministry Council Please set aside Saturday, November 11, from 11am until 1:00pm. All who are involved with ministries of this church, and all who would like to be, are invited. Food provided! We will be very mindful of time. Heads UP: Fall Ecumenical Food Drive for the Frankfort Food Pantry will be held on Sunday, November 12. Thank you for all you have done in the past. Traditionally the Ecumenical Food Drives provide us with enough food alone to assist local families in need for 1 2 months. The monies raised then help us to purchase food in other months. We couldn't put food on the tables of our hungry neighbors without you.

PAUL S ANNUAL BAZAAR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, :00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. BURGOO, CRAFTS, SILENT AUCTION, WHITE ELEPHANT SALE, PAUL SAWYIER PRINT SALE, AND BAKE SALE LUNCH - 11:00 a.m. Burgoo, Hot Dogs, Chips, Homemade Pie and Beverage Bazaar news: The craft workshop meets on Monday evenings at 6:00 alongside the Prayer Shawl Ministry. We are still hoping for new people and new ideas. Everyone is encouraged to work on their own crafts at home if you cannot make it to the workshops. All our ladies, and some gentlemen, are asked to bake something for our baked goods sale. Also, please be thinking about and working on silent auction items. We appreciate all the efforts that each one puts into making our Bazaar one of the most outstanding endeavors in our church. The beauty of everyone working together to bring this big day to fruition is touching beyond words. Thank you in advance for being a part of this, and once again, making it a great success. There will be a White Elephant sale at the Bazaar so, start getting our your "white elephant items" that you would like to donate to the sale. Please price them (there are price stickers in the Bazaar supplies). We will announce the time that we will be setting up the room for the sale for you to bring your items. Is that a loaf of bread she is holding? And is that a pistol in her apron pocket?!)

7 ~~~We would like to express our sincere thanks to our wonderful St. Paul family for your loving support during the passing of our dear sister, Pat. Your many cards, prayers and words of sympathy were very comforting. The dinner for our family following the burial was delicious and beautifully presented (as always), and gave us a chance for some much needed family time together. The plant from the Church is beautiful. I just hope we can keep it healthy. Pat was such a lover of plants and flowers. It will be a wonderful living reminder of her. It is at times like this, that we are reminded of how fortunate we are to be a part of such a wonderful and caring family of believers. May God continue to bless each of you in your service to Him and to others. Sean Ryan Prayer with Pastor Rhoda Raglin Leadership Workshops: Pastoral Care with Dr. Steve Stratton Conflict Management with Roxie Bennett In our new Discipleship track, Rev. Andrew Singh will be teaching on Leading Prayer! October 22 October 28 Bishop Leonard Fairley will be preaching at Mt Zion UMC (Washington County) as they celebrate their 225th anniversary! The United Methodist Women of the Kentucky Conference will come together for their Annual Mission Celebration at Memorial UMC in Elizabethtown. Kentucky s Churches to Assemble! This year s assembly of the Kentucky Council of Churches focuses on the contrast between God s lack of partiality (Acts 10:34) and the many forms of partiality or privilege enjoyed in our society. Workshop leaders and keynote speakers offer an exciting line up. It will take place October 19 th and 20 th at Jeffersonville Christian Church (Louisville). Anyone can register, regardless of whether you are part of a denominational delegation. We have 2 members on the Board of this Council: Linda Axon for Church Women United, and Pastor Donna Aros for the KY Conference of the UMC.

8 Kroger Community Rewards Program We presently have 28 households who shop at Kroger and for the period of July through August, 2017 we earned $ for the quarter from Kroger. The more members we have participate in this program by enrolling and shopping at Kroger, the more money we will earn quarterly! There has been a change to the Kroger Community Rewards. In past years August 1st began the re-enrollment period. Effective immediately all participants will roll over and stay enrolled instead of having to re-enroll each year. Seven church families are presently participating in the automatic bank draft (deduction) process to make their tithe to the church on a regular basis. It requires a one-time set up in which you choose the amount you want to transfer on a regular basis, weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. This amount will be automatically deducted from your account into the church's bank account. You authorize the start of the deduction and the amount and frequency of the electronic transfer. You can stop your deduction or make changes at any time. 100% of your tithe goes to St Paul. To start your automatic tithe bank transfer, please see Steve Coleman, church treasurer or complete the form available in the church office and turn it in to him directly.
