The weather has been so cold that we had to cancel some night services but things look better this week. The Kings Daughters Class will meet on February 2nd at the home of Mary Ann and Wendell Young for lunch. The lesson for February is Exodus 18 (When The Kids Are Grownups Too). The church has been collecting cans of soup each Sunday for the Community Care Center. The Community Church service in December was very good with lots of good music. The youth have a project going this month and we will know more later. Rev. Myers finished his sermons on Revelations and I think we really enjoyed hearing them. We will be having a dinner at the Bentonville School on February 11th. There will be soup, sandwiches and desserts. We are in much prayer for those of restored health. They are Mary Mason, Darrell McDaniel, Ronnie Palmer, Danny Little, Rick Miller, Pat McFarland and Russ and Dana Arey. Have a safe and warm month. Spring will be here soon. Our church lost another long time member. Virginia Grooms passed away on January 8th. She attended faithfully until just a few months ago when her health failed. She worked in our Care Unit and was one of our delegates to the First District Council. She will be missed by us all. We extend our sympathy to her daughter Sally and her son Chester and their families. Our morning services were cancelled on January 14th due to the weather. Also the Adams County Youth Rally, which was scheduled for that afternoon, was cancelled. Our condolences to Michelle Hoop and her family in the death of her sister-inlaw who passed away on January 15th. Our youth will be having an Italian Dinner in the Fellowship Hall on February 3rd from 5pm to 7pm. This is a benefit for our teen group to earn money to purchase tickets for Winter Jam 2018 which will be on February 17th. We are proud of them for wanting to earn the money themselves. Pray that they will have a good time and a safe trip. The next Youth Rally quiz will be on Sunday afternoon, February 11th, at the Adams County Christian School at 2:00 pm. Your prayers and support are appreciated. Our prayer list has been long so far this new year. There are many to pray for and a lot to pray about. DAILY PRAYERS DISOLVE YOUR CARES (Helen Steiner Rice) We all have cares and problems we cannot bear alone, But if we go to God in prayer we are never on our own. And if we try to stand alone, we are weak and we will fall, For God is always greatest when we're helpless, lost and small. And no day is unmeetable if on rising, our first thought Is to thank God for the blessings that His loving care has brought. So meet Him in the morning and go with Him through the day And thank Him for His guidance each evening when you pray. And if you follow faithfully this daily way to pray, You will never in your lifetime face another hopeless day. 3 H i l l s C h a p e l We are already in the second month of Many of our New Year s resolutions have been placed on hold until Our promises of a slower less busy year have already been pushed aside by the chaos of life. If we are not careful, 2018 will just continue our busy spiral and before we know it, it will be gone. A phrase my father often said Just one life will soon be past. Only what s done for Christ will last, challenges me with a question. What have I done for Christ so far in 2018? More than 10% of 2018 is over and what have I accomplished? If we do not intentionally guard our hearts, our enemy will win the battle by keeping us busy doing other things one day at a time. If the first two paragraphs were anything other than uplifting for you, realize you are not alone. I am in no way writing this with a judgmental attitude, because my year too has been chaotic. So I am sharing with you, what God shared with me through prayer, His Word, His creation, and His people. Within the last few weeks, I was struggling to keep my head above water. My father was on a vent in ICU, my friend was struggling with life threatening issues, and I was worn out. Instead of relying on God, I was relying on my abilities and just asking Him to help me. One morning, I woke up, and began my day with praying through a Psalm. The Psalm for that day was Psalm 46. As I began to pray through the first verse of Psalm 46, I began to recognize my points of failure. I had not been relying on God as my refuge and strength. I had been asking Him to merely give my strength. When I made it to Psalm 46:10, God blew me away when He spoke through His word and said Be still, and know that I am God! I continued my day visiting my father and friend in the hospital. The words of the Psalmist remained on my mind throughout the day. Finally, I left and started my two hour drive home physically and emotionally drained. While stopping to get gas, I received an from a missionary friend who said God had laid me on their heart to pray for me and they felt led to share with me their favorite song. The problem is they didn t say what their favorite song was. I was a little confused as I climbed back into my truck and continued toward home. As I approached Chillicothe, I saw a huge vibrant rainbow. While thinking of the promise the rainbow represents, the silence of my truck was broken with the voice of Kari Jobe singing Be Still. Immediately, I felt God s presence and knew He was not expecting me to take care of all the issues I was facing. He merely wanted me to allow Him to work through me. You see my friend had shared their favorite song, but as an attachment. One that had been loading the whole time and that began to play as God reminded me of his promises with the rainbow. My encouragement to you this month is, remember who you are. Remember where your strength comes from. Remember the calling God has on each of our lives to love each other and be His light to the world. Don t allow the enemy to use the chaos of life to destroy your peace, alienate you from His presence, or cause you to forget His promise. Be still and allow God to refocus your attention to His purpose.

The Meeting of the West Union Helping Hands has been cancelled for the month of February. The Meeting of Adams County for Christian Values will be held at the Adams County Christian School on Tuesday night, February 6 th at 7:00 P.M. We are taking part in the Baby Bottle Drive for the Adams County Pregnancy Resource Center. This fundraiser for the Center will be going on until March 4 th. Those celebrating Birthdays during the month of February are: Tony Kiser, 15 th ; Maurice Riffle, 19 th ; Gracie Little, 19 th ; Carole Beery, 23 rd. Those on our prayer list: Rose Gill; Bob & Shirley Pell; Those that have lost their loved ones; The Unsaved in our Families and Communities; Those in the Nursing Homes and Hospitals; The Police Officers; The Fire Fighters. 5 B e a s l e y F o r k C h r i s t i a n U n i o n With the year getting off to somewhat of a snowy start, we did not have service on January 14th and the Youth Rally was also cancelled due to the inclement weather. Some of our church family have also caught the sicknesses going around. We are praying for health and sunshine ahead. But, perhaps the Lord gives us these times to rest and reflect. In our sickness, we can praise Him for the health we do have and thank Him for times of rest that He gives us, even if we are forced to rest. And, even though the snowy weather may cause difficult travel and cold temperatures, as we sit in our warm homes, we can thank Him for all that He provides to see us through it. We can watch out our windows at the blankets of white and marvel at His beautiful creations. On January 7th, we held Sunday School elections. We pray that God guides each of us in our positions and that we may glorify Him in our duties and service.
