We pray for their safety while in school. The Bentonville Harvest Festival will be celebrating its 40th year on September 9th through 11th. The Bentonville Community Church will host the Community Church Services on the 11th. All three churches will gather and have worship service together. After church there will be a carry -in dinner in the Fellowship Hall at the campgrounds. It will be a wonderful day of fellowship. Our annual church picnic will be held on September 18th at Lake Adams in West Union. We pray that the weather will be good and everyone will have a wonderful time. Last year the weather was great and the children had a good time and so did the adults. Our condolences to Ron McDaniel and his family in the passing of Mary Sue. She had been in bad health for several years. Our prayers are with the family. Please pray for our country and the leaders and all the families that have lost everything due to the bad weather we have been having. Please pray for Raymond Dryden, Sue Stanfield, Betty Osman, Mary Mason, Ron Palmer, Pat McFarland, Junior Morrison who fell and for all who are ill. They had a great time and some showed interest in attending church services. We want to thank everyone who helped in any way to make this possible. On Sunday, August 7th, the children sang one of the songs that they learned at Bible School. Bonnie Hawkins, Virginia Grooms and Pastor Lee attended the State Council in Greenfield which was held on August 4th, 5th and 6th. Congratulations to Brooke Justice and Chase Armstrong who were married on August 13th. Brooke is the daughter of Brian and Regina Justice and the granddaughter of Rose Gill. On Sunday morning, August 14th, Bella Dettwiller and Lauren Hoop sang for us. During the evening service Richard and Susan Brown and Bella and Brady Dettwiller sang. It is nice to have the children participate in our services. Our Wednesday evening Bible Study was cancelled on August 17th due to the fact that a few of our little group could not be there. We are starting to study the book of Revelation. Everyone is welcome. On Sunday morning, August 28th, we opened our church to new membership. Our new member is Sammy Thacker. May God bless him. The Singles and Doubles Sunday School class will host their annual Coats for Kids auction on Saturday evening, October 8th. Soup and sandwiches will be served at 5:00 pm and the auction will start at 6:00 pm. Everyone is welcome. The food is free and the money from the auction will be used to buy coats for needy children in the county. The new season for the Adams County Youth Rally is starting. The first quiz will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 9th, at the Adams County Christian School. Pray for all the children and leaders. 5 August was another blessed month. Several of our church went back to work and many of our youth returned to school. We helped prepare them for this new adventure by having a back to school celebration where all staff and students were prayed over. We also organized the annual prayer around the schools, which was attended by nearly 200 people. As a church we will challenge you the same as we challenged each of them. Instead of talking about your school and administration, to someone else, talk to God about it. Our children need God s protection and direction in their lives. H i l l s C h a p e l Count Your Blessings! We are entering into one of my favorite times of the year. It seems God shows off some of his artistic flare in southern Ohio as the leaves begin to change colors. The cooler evenings allow comfortable walks to enjoy creation. Unfortunately, like so many other things we take God s power for granted. We become so accustomed to His presence, His power, and His majesty that we begin to ignore it. Others who don t experience it every day stand amazed, while we seem completely unaware. As I read various passages of Scripture this week, an often quoted verse spoke to me in a different way. Phil. 4:6 Don t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. I know how hard it is to not worry about things and of course I know we are supposed to pray about everything. However, the part that spoke to me was the last phrase thank him for all he has done. How many times would we worry less if we thanked him for all that he has done. Far too many times we get so caught up in our problems and the next big catastrophe we completely forget where we have come from and the provisions he has supplied in the past. Help us make this month better. As you begin to recognize that you are worrying about things, reflect on God s awesome power and provisions in your life. The Kings Daughters class will meet at the church on August 4th at 1:00 pm for their monthly meeting. We are continuing our lessons on Faith. Everyone is welcome. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." Psalm 33:12 The children will be going back to school the third week in August. We pray for them going to and from school. There is so much happening in the world today that we need to pray for their safety. On our prayer list please remember all who are ill and have lost loved ones. Please pray for our Third Elder, Sue Stanfield, who was in a car accident and has a lot of physical therapy to do for recovery. Also remember Raymond Dryden, Ron Palmer, Charles Harmon, Judy Little, Derek Smith, Mary Mason and Larry Rigdon. Our Annual Soup Supper at the Fellowship Hall will be on Friday night, October 28 th, with serving time starting at 4:00 P.M. The auction will start at 6:00 P.M. The money received from this fundraiser will be given in equal amounts to the 3 Missionary Couples that we support monthly. Write this date on your calendar. A meeting of the Adams County for Christian Values will be held at the Adams County Christian School, Tuesday night, September 6 th at 7:00 P.M. One thing that has been discussed in past meetings, is the election this fall. There are those in the community that are wanting to have the sale of alcoholic beverages put on the ballot in 10 different precincts. Pray folks!
