3 MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS Q J boys brigade 3-8 Dec Mission Trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia 26 boys, together with friends from Girls Brigade and Red Cross taught English, helped to build a house and hosted children from an orphanage to a dinner. For photos and stories, check out google.com/site/fmspug/ 21 Dec Christmas Fellowship P6 Boys, Seniors (ex-boys), Officers and Teachers celebrated Christmas with a time of fellowship; strengthening the mentoring culture in the 33J family. For photos and videos of activities in 2012, check out ALDERSGATE PRAISE CENTRE (APC) 168 students are enrolled at APC. With parents and teachers as partners, APC continues to impart Christian values for intentional character building. Focussing on one value each month, children are taught to have reverence for God, humility, respect, integrity, selfdiscipline, etc. During the school holiday period, children were treated to a deluge of holiday activities including visits to attractions. 4 ANIMAL MINISTRY 13 Oct This new ministry conducted its first Animal Blessing service. CHINESE MINISTRY Chinese Ministry continues to hold Yum Cha sessions every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, hosting an average of 20 people each time. CHURCH SCHOOL Due to the increase of children in Church School, changes were made to accommodate the different levels of students. Attendance: 8 marketplace ministry Dec Sale of Christmas Cards an initiative to encourage all church members to write a card to their colleagues or friends to spread the spirit of Christmas and to increase the visibility of our church. Approximately 500 cards were sold. missions 6-10 Dec Medical/Discipleship Mission to Cambodia 11 volunteers led by Dr Linus Chua went on the trip with a 3-fold aim to: A) continue last year s medical outreach in Prek Omperl Methodist Church, B) minister to residents of new Methodist hostel and C) do a recce visit to the hostel and Hope house ministry with slum children. Christmas celebration was held on Sunday night at the hostel. The residents put up a traditional Khmer dance. At the end of group discussions, 14 hostelites said the sinner s prayer. 5 In and AROUND

6 Pastoral Care Ministry 24 Nov PCG Leaders Meeting & Training 25 PCG leaders attended the training on How to care for the bereaved and the sick by Pr Patrick Wu. OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS Nov-Dec Dover Outreach 2012 Visited families at Block 32, 34 & 35, Dover Road. 110 signed up as volunteers (including Youth and Young Adults PCGs). Visited 141 families. Gave $10 NTUC Voucher to every family that we visited. Helping one family with financial aid, 2 with $50 NTUC voucher and another 3 to be followed up. Dec Dec Angel Tree Prison Fellowship Singapore Assist to raise $5,580 donation for the Angel Tree Tuition Ministry Took 16 children to Marina Barrage for kite flying 24 Nov Bethany Methodist Nursing Home Ukelele Team visited the Peace ward. 14 volunteers led a Hokkien-Mandarin sing-along 30 Dec Christmas Service AMC Chinese Ministry sang carols at Peace Ward and Pastor Lorna preached at the service Dec Methodist Welfare Services Assisted MWS to give out 37 Bursaries from Methodist Welfare Services for Bursary Awards In and AROUND 6

7 SPORTS MINISTRY The football team is gearing up for the upcoming CrossRoad Cup 2013 scheduled for kick-off on 31 Mat. Please keep the team in prayer as they reach out to pre-believers through this tournament. Also, for GOD s protection against injuries YOUTHPHORIA 31 Dec On New Year s Eve, the youth had their annual Prayer and Praise event where they prayed for the Dover community, the Funfair, Fairfield Schools, and the Body of Christ in AMC. WOMEN S SOCIETY OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE (WSCS) 9 Dec Jumble Sale More than $3,000 was raised for Church Outreach & Social Concern (Dover Ministry) through the Jumble Sale. 23 Dec Christmas Celebration Christmas Celebration was held for domestic helpers. 8 domestic helpers attended with 12 church members including WSCS members. Lots of food, games and gifts. Rev Edmund de Souza was the speaker. 55 people turned up and 20 came forward to receive healing from God. Testimony - Josephine Chan Before the service, I was having pain in the lower back that I found it hard to bend and take out the laundry from the washing machine. I have to sit on a stool to do it. I did not tell my husband about this as he would always assume that it is all in the mind. I was feeling so uncomfortable that I thought of giving the service a miss but Desmond was very persistent that we should attend, to lead by example of a PCG leader and also to lend support to Wai Cheong and Irene as they are bringing their god daughter Valerie to the service to seek healing. While seated at the pew, I was still in pain (worse as the bench was hard and with no back support) but I did not respond to the calling to move to the front for those who need healing (I was too shy lah). However, I did as instructed by Rev De Souza to put my hand on the area where we need healing (my lower back) and focus on Jesus as he prayed for all of us. He said to trust in Jesus and Jesus has compassion and will heal us. Slowly we prayed and slowly my heartbeat quickened, I was shivering and the pain slowly eased away. I was so relieved and frightened at the same time. Thank you Jesus! Have mercy on me Jesus! As I sat there watching Valerie, out of her wheelchair, struggling to walk, step by step with the help of the intercessors, tears just flowed.. Oh Jesus please have mercy on Valerie that she too be healed. Amen. Testimony Mr Freddy Wee I wish to thank those who prayed for me. Through their collective prayers, the Lord has taken off much of the stiffness and pain in my legs. Above all, I thank our Heavenly Father for His great powers of healing. In and AROUND 10

11 CHURCH CAMP 320 washing of fellow campers' feet was a deeply touching experience for campers were challenged to pray and prepare their hearts forty days before 13- December 2012, the day they headed for Malacca. The some campers during the Sacred Pathways programme segment where we learnt that believers do encounter God in different ways. Pastor Benny Ho shared four inspiring messages to the English congregation while Reverend Ding too delivered messages which ministered to the hearts of the Chinese service campers. Felicia and her husband, Tard, together with their 5 children, shared with our children God's truth, teaching them to memorise Bible verses and to love through various interesting activities and helping them to be better behaved using creative means. Despite the drizzle on Saturday, the Amazing Race participants carried on diligently to find the various check points. It was a planned route that took them to some of the historical sites in Malacca town and of course the food trail at Jonker Street. It was a time where everyone literally "let their hair down". Many were encouraged by Rev Ding who went through each station with enthusiasm and a big smile. Praise God for giving us a vision to reach out to those who are without hope in the world and also that each of us may be willing to walk across the room, or in our church context, to walk across the road (Dover flats), to walk across the field (FMSP & FMSS) and reach out to those who need to hear the good news found in Jesus Christ.
